  1. So they should with the money they have, criminal really how poorly they've done in recent years. I'm still one who cheers on the English teams in Europe, even if I hate them like Manure, Chelsea, Man City etc. I know that's a bit old fashioned, still remember that time in the 70's and 80's when English teams won it every year, that's when I first start to fall in love with the game.
  2. I'm still counting the games down until we have to buy him, 15 now right, if we believe Douglas's claim of 20 starts. Don't give this fucking owner a chance to fuck this up. Pardon my french.
  3. Yeah I've heard that, no Joselu though

Then what was that board I posted on prior to this one called ? Didn't this one come into being because from two of the most popular NUFC forums at the time decided to join forces, or am I getting confused ? There was nufc.nu and Toontastic, nufc.nu become Howaythetoon and that and Toontastic were closed down due to fixtures copyright, eventually they merged to this forum basically, but then forum wars ensued and the Toontastic lot set up their own forum which is kind of natural looking back so today they are back home if you like. More drama than at NUFC I knew I wasn't going senile, despite the digs. I used to post on Toontastic, it was great on there but once this forum got up and running I didn't feel too much of a need to go back to Toontastic, I didn't even know they had relaunched that place until recently. Going back even further to BBS days through PRESTEL and rec.sports.soccer.newcastle or whatever it was that was my first experience of this computer based debating, it was great to have folks to communicate with who shared the same passion, we don't always agree but good to hear different perspective and have healthy debates.
  5. A draw or better for Brum today will knock the mackems down another place, only woeful Bolton behind them
  6. Mitro's was a blatant as it gets, and i say that as a Mitro fan who wants to defend him but i can't in that case. All about ones own opinions i guess. It is and they were absolutely correct not to appeal, despite what in my view was debatable, as the prevailing opinion would have sided with your view no doubt.

  8. Personally, even taking off my Black and White specs off, Mitro doesn't do much wrong other than going in a little overly aggressive with a shoulder barge, if it had been any other player, I doubt anything would have happened.

Whatever dude, he was in my experience someone that added to this place and toontastic prior to the merger of the two boards, he didn't spoil anything from my perspective, he did go a little too far with "Thick Mick" comments, when you get into personal insults like that you do cross a line. But the fact that people even talk about him mean he did add to the forum, obviously not to your liking, but he's not the only one there.
  10. Because i'd say their appeal wasn't frivolous despite it clearly being a red card. There's probably enough to say it wasn't frivolous in their opinion, not in mine like but. I get ya. But if we had appealed Mitro's what would have been the outcome ?

Even their twitter guy is miles behind ours It's funny though because the club can't do a thing right in the eyes of it's fans right now, not sure what there solution is other than to hold up their hands and say we are fucked !!
  12. Guess this is justice, but why only three games if they appealed I thought they tagged on extra games, hence why Mitro didn't appeal ? http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41419869
  13. Got f*** all to do with Dave. That's possible the trigger right there though. Personally speaking I cannot fathom how a 'fan' can even think like that. I imagine others are the same. You might know they are tough games but you never write them off. Probably just a poor choice of words on your part though, so why not just forget it. FFS another one

When I took my driving test at 17 my instructor was a right old bastard, he was basically angry with me for taking my test before he had managed to squeezed a bundle of extra lessons out of me. Right before my test, I was obviously in a nervous state, so he decides it's a good to time tell me and my dad that I didn't stand a chance. I however ended up driving the perfect test and passed, the drive home with my instructor was glorious, his face was a picture That guy is probably dead now, he was old then and that was 30 years ago, Crumpy could well be his son, carrying on the family business, I'm sure with the same happy demeanor, I wonder how many folks have clicked on his link and signed up with him based on his persona here

NE5 was actually a pretty good poster, his presence is missed, his blind loyalty to FS was hard to take for certain folks on here, but he was always pretty articulate in his arguments, certainly better a stating his case than me for example (not that I'm much of a yard stick), but generally owned Mick, their constant battles were a highlight around that time. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that NE5 was somehow related or associated with Freddie, his bias was too blatant to be otherwise and he kind of disappeared around the time of the take over.
  16. He scored a total of 6 goals last season, he has never scored double figures in a top flight campaign, despite playing 20 plus games a season for the last 5 seasons, his league goals record is 5,9,8,4,5. Three starts for us is enough to judge that he's the player is record suggests he is, as a sole striker that's not a good enough return. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joselu His goals per minute in those 5 seasons you mention though is 1 every 250 minutes...over a season that's about 13-14 goals? I don't really get all the love in with this guy, it's mildly amusing stuff but it never puts me in fits of laughter like you lot seem to constantly be in. Anyway, I've not heard this Lukaku song, what's the part that's offensive ?
  18. Hopefully Murphy's law kicks in with my comment and he proves me wrong, couldn't be happier if that happened.

Personally I give Freddie a pass on the Owen debacle, it seemed like the right thing to do at the time, replace the aging number 9 with a world class finisher. It wasn't until we got to know him a little better that he was just here for the money and had all but hung his boots. The aspect of his tenure that I do have a problem with is the general lack of research when it came to his managerial appoints, the incident in the Spanish brothel obviously, the "keeping the powder dry" pre-season and the way he handled the Bobby firing (not because he sacked him, but when he sacked him with no plan in place to move him up stairs and properly think about succession).

  21. I think Joselu was always getting that start after scoring and having a good all round game in his first start for the club. Mitro may not have even made the bench and probably won't on Sunday either, which personally I feel is a mistake.
  22. This is bang on and why I think we can beat them. Liverpool fans go mental at the fact that for all Klopp's high pressing attacking nous, his team often struggle to break well-drilled defensive teams down who play on the counter. It is a great point, but we'll have to do better than these teams and keep a clean sheet, to get anything out of the game if we persist with Joselu up front.

How many of these "hardy souls" made that trip because after watching the highlights, it's like a library when they scored their two goals ? 700 although apparently only around 200 of them were based in the North East and the rest were Southern based Exiles. I know it's really awkward to get to and a hell of a trip, but even if all of them were North East based, it's pretty pathetic really, but in a sense, they are getting the support levels their team deserves.
  24. I have no idea what this is in response too, seems like a random quote against a phantom reference.
