If and when our 3 year rolling PSR period improves, squad cost limits means we either have to grow revenue or sell players before we bring anyone in. Profit and losses are irrelevant. And that assumes pay for our purples remains static. If Isak, Bruno and Tonali demand an extra 200K per week between them, we almost certainly can't afford to grow the squad.

I thought any additional spending risks breaching the new 70% squad cost rule? So incomings must be funded by outgoings until we grow revenue.

Should we really be clearing out the likes of Targett, Kelly and Longstaff? Unless we're brining in direct replacements who improve on these, we need these squad players for cover and early round cup games. It's not like our squad is well padded out.

Not just revenue, but I'd expect global fan base for the breakaway 6 (even inc. Spurs) are miles ahead of every other club as well. The Premier League probably sees it as commercially desirable to keep those teams at the top.
