Theres no law against playing two CB's who aren't absolute tanks, MYM was strong and athletic enough, they could and should have had a chance to play more together.

 

Playing 2 ball playing CBs both on the small side has never worked in the PL. It never will, either. PL strikers are superathletes in 2015. Partnering Mapou with a bloke who gets outmuscled and out jumped by Shane Long would never have brought out the best in him.

 

If you picked out maybe a dozen of the best CB partnerships in the PL, I couldn't think of one like that Colo/MYM partnership

 

Even if it was true that two technical CBs are not ideal together, the alternatives are so terrible that it was an absolute no-brainer to try it IMO.

Not to mention the long-term issue of grooming Mapou as Colo's successor.

They should be able to get at least £7 million back for him. That price is laughable.

The guy is still figuring stuff out at this level, as he hasn't been allowed to play enough games. Have no idea what the hell Warnock was doing not playing him. Even Pardew seems to know better.

They just need to keep playing him, and take away that fear of being dropped when stuff doesn't come off for him. We'll see what happens.

I don't get the hate for him (well ok I do) El Dia Despues have couple of episodes with him especially when it's him vs Ramos and Pepe which are just hilarious. Funniest part is he knows the limits as well, he seems to know how to not get sent off. I f***ing hate him for not picking Brazil cause he brings a certain type of mentality which is needed.
