  1. Just got caught up on the thread ...

Always fascinated by the Ferguson is coaching the striker out of Rooney comments.

When is Rooney going to take responsibility for the failure to live up to his vast potential. Extraordinary that people still make excuses for him. Probably why he feels he can keep getting away with not putting in the necessary work to reach that potential.

Ferguson didn't coach anything out of Ronaldo did he?! How about the likes of Cantona and Van Nistelrooy? Giggs?

    Maybe Rooney is just complacent.

He's a good player, and maybe that's good enough for him. Maybe he just isn't interested in being great.

  2. Things haven't been perfect for Pardew, but he's ultimately ended up with a better squad than most other managers.

Pochettino and Jol for example are both more likely to do better than us, as they did last season.

Have a look at their squads and compare them with ours.

Put either of them in Pardew's place and the improvement would be significant.

  3. Lambrini Football

    Mignolet, Boruc

    Mertesacker, Coleman, Zabaletta, Azplllcueta, Baker

Westwood, Millner, Dembele, Mata (V), Hazard ©

    Cornelius, Sturridge, Aguero.

    My issues

Will Zabaletta, Azplllcueta or Coleman (Neil) start?

Is Dembele worth it? (5.5 and I love the way he plays).

Was considering putting Rat into my team due to FM pedigree and also fat Sam has a decent defensive record.

After reading this thread I'm now considering Bellamy, Lambert, Countinhio and Lukaku. The big teams are so annoying, so much strength in depth it's unfair.

Coleman is great for a fairly inexpensive defender who'll start regularly and should rack up a decent total.

Especially in Martinez team, where he will look even better going forward.

I'm loving Everton this year for my fantasy football team.

Starting off with Coleman and Mirallas. Keeping an eye on who eventually settles into the striker position.

I'm toying with the idea of Barkley as a bench guy for £4.5 million. How likely is it that he breaks into the team early on Neil?

  4. I'm predicting a fairly average season for Cazorla, not sure why. Just seems like his spark's gone a bit, and they have Wilshere fit as well now.

I think Wilshere makes Cazorla better if anything. He'll open up more space for him.

  5. Can remember a Spurs supporter on here complaining about Bent and in particular his inability to play with Berbatov.

    Kingdawson i think it was.

Not sure they ever played together at Spurs. Think Berbatov had left by then.

Think it was Keane he said couldn't play with Bent.

nope bent played a season with Berbatov

Ah, right. Don't remember seeing much of them together.

Stylistically I would imagine it being a really good partnership, as Berbatov likes to drop off and get involved in play, and can also provide a nice through ball. While Bent will stay ont he shoulder and look to finish.

Guess we'll see how it pans out. Definitely keeping a close eye on them both for my fantasy team now.

  6. Can remember a Spurs supporter on here complaining about Bent and in particular his inability to play with Berbatov.

Think it was Keane he said couldn't play with Bent.

  7. Can't knock the decision by Bent. He's a great fit alongside Berbatov.

Whereas it wasn't clear at all how on earth he'd fit in alongside Cisse, as they appear quite similar.

  8. I have to say, and sorry if this is too negative, but I'm just looking forward to enjoying the first weekend of the season without having to be angry about our team selection, formation or performance.

I will actually be able to enjoy the first Match of the Day and all, which I couldn't watch most of last season due to being pissed off.

Come Monday, and well, let's see what happens then. I'm definitely going to be bricking it.We could potentially see Elliott, Shola and Jonas start as things stand.

  9. That's an unbelievable quote from Pardew

tbh I'm not so sure its all that uncommon a view among managers and owners in England, few sides have ever bothered to take it seriously, its just perceived as getting in the way since it doesn't have the financial rewards to really make it worthwhile see also cups; FA and League

Go look up Laudrup's recent quotes on the Europa league. He was pushing it as giving his team an advantage for the start of the season. Just a completely different mindset i.e. a positive one!

Besides even if Pardew feels that way, as the manager of the football club, he should never openly say that. It's awful.

People keep saying the cup isn't taken seriously, but the players and fans don't feel this way.

If Newcastle won it, it would be a huge deal. He just can't say that crap.

  10. Pardew is tragic man. All these discussions are just reminding me about how annoying things are going to be this season.

He just honestly doesn't know what he's doing, because imo he doesn't really believe in the players at his disposal. He literally knows nothing about them, and is incapable of appreciating what they are good at.

This guy played Perch at DM ahead of Anita repeatedly last season. He continued to play Jonas ahead of Marveaux, even though Jonas was absolutely rotten, and contributed nothing to our forward play.

Gouffran kept getting pulled early for Shola, who despite coming on at 60 mins looked more lethargic than everyone else on the pitch.

It's just sad. Very very sad.

  11. Yeah because Ba refused to play on the wing so we shafted Cisse out wide for a handful of appearances and had nowhere near the same effect. Then we sold Ba, instead of putting Cisse back through the middle, he gave Shola the nod and his excuse after the match was Ba's absence midweek had spoilt the gamelan prepared and Shola was the nearest like for like replacement. Baffling.

I remember this whole episode. I was trembling with rage.

  12.                                   Hart

    Zabaleta      Kompany        Lescott      Clichy

                      Fernandinho    Toure

    Navas                    Jovetic                Silva

                            Negredo/Dzeko

Looking forward to my fantasy team getting off to a good start (Navas and Fernandinho)

Navas will get James Milner'd. Very risky!

I've steered clear of Man City players as it seems impossible to predict who will be played.

I'll be surprised if Navas isn't a regular starter for them like.

    Prepare to be surprised then.

Milner started ahead of him in the majority of pre-season games, despite the fact Navas joined them very early on.

The constant rotating with Man City strikers and wingers will be a nightmare with City this season.

Definitely nowt to do with giving Navas a break after playing in the Confeds of course.

Alright, we'll see soon enough. That Pellegrini looks like he's got a whole lot of tinkerman in him. You just watch.

  13. I saw Laudrup earlier this week. Talking up Europe, and how the earlier start will have them raring to go at Man United in the first game, as they'll be more up to speed.

    What a contrast ...

  14. £8m, really ?. I'd say that's just about £8m too much.

You're looking at £20m including the wages, signing on and agent fees. That would be the summer and winter budget done.

West Ham are mental, they're spending that money to finish 10th or so. Just average, as is every team Big Sam builds.

You can say that about half league though.

Why should we bother with Gomis, he'll likely cost similar all in all - just too finish 10th. What a waste. Save the cash and finish a little lower down.

I didn't really put it right did i, what i meant was they are buying very average players. If you were going to spend £8m, spend on a little gem that'll improve your team, not on a bang average footballer.

I suppose i mean, West Ham are spending money on average players, when they could spend it on better ones at the prices they're paying for the s**** ones.

True I guess but Allardyce doesn't work that way, never has done. Whatever the price he'll improve them though, whether he's worth it though - probably not.

He is a bit weird Sam, he really like players as they get to about 30. What a w*****.

He just likes having them on that vibrating metal contraption, under the guise of rejuvenating their aging bodies, so he can watch they ass jiggle. Creepy guy.
