Smith's been impressive so far imo.
All he's doing is diving in on people, and offering no cover for the centre backs. Disastrous player.
Same old story, and people are conned by it, as usual.
Everyday I thank God for Tiote and pray he doesn't get injured. It's our only chance this season.
I can guarantee you right now that Smith will either give away a penalty in the second half, or give away a free kick on the edge of the box that leads to a goal. The guy is just a random entity out there, who bumps into things.

s**** header from Ryan Taylor btw. I know there wasn't much pace on the ball but heading it down in that position was asking for trouble.
It's an easy ball for Taylor to deal with. Could have kicked it well away. It was incredible. I mean if that doesn't hit krul where does it go exactly? Right back to a players feet right in the box. Krul messed up but Taylor was ultimately responsible for the goal. Crazy defending.

Ryan Taylor has been awful ... very fitting the part he played in that goal. Absolute buffoonery. He is definitely not a right back. Should be played on the wing only.

Out of interest would like to see Perch at defensive midfield or centre back in this game.
No I don't want to see him in the team.
He plays=we lose.
Stop being silly.

The over reaction on this thread is cringeworthy.

Think it will be a pretty straightforward win for Newcastle. Haven't really been impressed by Sunderland. Don't see where their threat comes from. Bent is the sort of striker I would expect Coloccini and Williamson to deal with, El Mohammady is decent but not outstanding in any particular way and he will be facing Enrique. Henderson will not cause problems for Tiote at all. Bramble is also due a monumental cock up. Newcastle win.

The way he responded to the hammering in the Wolves game was a big day for him IMO. It was the first concrete thing he did to show that he might have finally done what he's been saying he's done for ages - grown up.
Indeed. Thought it was really significant too. Had he snapped that day I actually wouldn't have blamed him. Was pleasantly surprised that he didn't.

Why is Amdy Faye bombing forward like he's some box-to-box midfielder?
Who is the Leeds manager? He must be nuts.
Simon Grayson, he's decent.
Yeah, I'm sure he is. Leeds seem to be doing okay for sure.
However Amdy Faye bombing forward? Nah ...

The only thing that worries me about him is he has a very limited range of passing. I've yet to really see him even try to hit a pass more than 10 yards.
Don't get me wrong, I echo what everyone else says about him being a very good player and a bargain at the price, but I don't think he's got much creativity in his locker.
And yes, I know he's not been brought in to ping 70 yard balls across field, I just think it'd make him an even better player if he had a wider range of passing.
This is a big reason why England are the horrific team that they are. The likes of Gerrard, Barry and Lampard always looking to play the hollywood passes and giving away posession time and over again. Sounds to me like you are pining for Nicky Butt! Mental!
The best midfielders are those that play shorter forward passes and continuously move into space to receive the ball and look to do the same again. Watch Arsenal and Barcelona and the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Nasri etc etc do it all day.
WHY DO YOU WANT NICKY BUTT TYPE PASSES FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!

Tiote allows Nolan to play CM and just get in behind the front two because Tiote literally does the work of two men. It wouldn't work otherwise. See the Nolan and Butt partnership which got us relegated. As long as Tiote is fit it is probably our best option. Playing Nolan as a second striker alongside Carroll just doesn't quite offer enough pace and mobility upfront.

Obinna will make us weep.

John Utaka would be useful if Portsmouth close down.

English players are so badly behaved it's untrue. It's already beginning to have an effect on the national team, which will only continue to get worse.
As a team Newcastle just aren't good enough for these kinds of distractions. Seriously have to get a striker in Jan or it's the championship again. Andy Carroll cannot be relied upon at all. In the meantime Shola should start every game and failing that Leon Best. Carroll is a mess.

We were superb against Wigan without Nolan eh lads!
What does this even mean?
It means his mind works in an astonishingly simple manner.

Thank you Jesus. Thank you Lord. It's just a point, but all things considered it is absolutely massive. We need every single point we can get. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Captain fantastic, Coloccini the great!

What exactly is Lovenkrands doing out there?

West Ham and West Brom now threatening to pick up points. Awesome.

Kevin Nolan is now pretty much undroppable. Just great.

Every f***ing international break we come back after we have looked shocking.
Was just about to mention this also. As most of our players are not internationals, it appears they just sit around doing nothing during the international break. Sloths.

Figueroa and Zog are a dangerous combo on the left. Having Perch teamed up with Guthrie, who is not a typical wide player and who is just returning from injury, to face them was a very bad idea. Routledge's tracking back and defensive work is underrated.
