  1. What a clown for staying at the premiership champions... Well it doesn't sound like he wants to stay does it. He's turned us down on the basis of Barton being at the club. I think it is common knowledge that Man U are willing to let him go as Lyon and Bordeaux have also enquired I believe.
  2. This is getting worrying now. We really need some players. Silvestre is an idiot if this is true.
  3. Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is chasing a series of targets with proven quality and experience the main requirements, and for that reason, is not in the market for wantaway West Brom star Curtis Davies. Steven Taylor earned his manager's wrath for needlessly aggravating an ankle injury against Celtic, although the damage is not thought to be too serious. However, while Allardyce has high hopes for the 21-year-old, he wants to surround him with old heads. He said: "I am looking for experienced defenders. I have Steven Taylor, who is a very, very young and very, very good prospect, and I would put Curtis Davies alongside Steven Taylor. "They are both in their early 20s and in the Premiership, that would be the wrong thing to do. "Somebody with more experience needs to be brought in as well as David Rozehnal, who has been pretty impressive in the time he has been here. "Peter Ramage did a terrific job in the first half with Paul Huntington gaining more experience. "I have got Huntington, Steven Taylor and Peter Ramage - I don't need the inexperience of Curtis Davies, as good a player as he is. "He is definitely a Premiership player, but I need more experience in there in those positions to achieve the clean sheets we would be looking for in the Premiership." Get a feeling Taylor won't be in the starting lineup next season, which might be a good thing. Bring him along a little bit slower. If we sign someone like Campbell or Hyypia then Taylor can take over in a years time or so.

    Dyer's replacement

None of you see Geremi playing in the centre of the park then? People would rather Milner there? Yikes!

    Dyer's replacement

Forget Emre ... if we play three in midfield, it should be Butt, Barton and Geremi. Geremi has said he would play anywhere today, but also confirmed that his favourite position is CM and that is where Allardyce told him he wanted him to play when he signed. Best news I've heard all day, thought he was brilliant there last night.
  6. One has broken his leg and the other has broken his face.
  7. Thought Kewell was nailed on? I'd take SWP now. Though I imagine we'd have similar problems with his wages. Oh rest assured, you'll be siging Kewell as well. That move is yet to come, but it will happen. So we'll sign 2 of the most overpaid, injury prone players in the Premiership, going against everything we usually look for in a player. Best days behind them, limited sell on value. To go with Rose (17), Bale (18), Taarabt (18), Kaboul (20) and Bent (23). K then. Apparently so. Yes.
  8. Um ... Viduka wasn't owned by anyone though. He was a free agent with no contract with any other club. Borough didn't just give him to us free of charge.

  10. I like the way you think coach. Unfortunately I think his salary would be the killer. :-[ Hardly, as Campbell himself was lured to Fratton Park by way of wages, he's on good money there so I don't think they'd have a problem paying Dyer similar, although not as much he's getting here but then I doubt anyone other than West Ham would pay him the kind of money he gets here. Well if that is indeed the case someone needs to give Harry a call then!
  11. I like the way you think coach. Unfortunately I think his salary would be the killer. :-[
  12. You could argue that the behaviour of Portsmouth and West Ham have forced them to have to spend those amounts on Chopra and Richardson though. If Nugent cost £6 million then Chopra's price was always going to go up because he actually scored more goals last season. Chopra also has the experience of being a part of a premiership club, albeit he didn't play much, but Nugent hasn't even tasted the top level at all. So using these kinds of arguments Cardiff were always going to take the mick.
  13. Dyer will want to go to Spurs but West Ham will throw a lot more money at him ... guess we'll soon find out whats more important to him.
  14. I agree with Dave. I think Sven is going to be great, but Allardyce is the right manager for us. Newcastle definitely isn't the place for Sven. Too much pressure, expectation, and Alan Oliver. Dyer will end up at Spurs they will want to quickly make up for losing out on yet another left-winger, by signing yet another right sided player Lennon, Malbranque, Routledge Tainio and now ... Dyer
  15. Good stuff. Happy we played well, which obviously helped. Great intro for the new guys, particularly Rozehnal who is coming in from another country.
  16. "It's up to him whether he wants to continue through the pain barrier, as he has been doing in the past few weeks. "When he is fit it will help his mental state and the football talent will emerge." That bit is a bit weird to me! Is Luque still slightly injured then or what? Because it did kind of look that way at times.
  17. 1 left back, 1 right back and 2 centre-backs would be ideal.
  18. Ramage I'm afraid appears to suffer from the Bramble disease ... for which there is no cure.
  19. Can anyone think of any top prem experienced defenders outside of the premiership who we could be looking at?
  20. What, like I did five minutes ago? Oh yeah!
  21. Well at least now we know. I like it when Sam lets us at least know the players he isn't after. The pool of defnders shrinks yet again though. Who could we possibly be after? Anyone get the feeling Taylor might not start this season ... Rozehnal is looking really classy and if we add another top experienced defender, we might be better off pairing this defender with Roz. Someone ought to change the thread title by the way!
  22. Homesick Dyer seems set for £5m move to West Ham George Caulkin Kieron Dyer was omitted from the Newcastle United squad for last night’s friendly against Celtic at St James’ Park and while the midfield player was in the stands – with the injured Michael Owen – to witness a 4-1 home win, he is now likely to complete a £5 million transfer to West Ham United. Dyer has told Sam Allardyce, the Newcastle manager, that he wishes to live closer to his Ipswich-based family and a move to London is believed to be imminent. While Sven-Göran Eriks-son is an admirer of Dyer, geographical reasons rule Manchester City out of the running for the 28-year-old. Tottenham Hotspur also retain an interest – and may yet attempt to trump any offer from West Ham – but although Dyer is enthused by the prospect of working under Martin Jol, the strict wage structure at White Hart Lane counts against them. Dyer earns in excess of £80,000 a week, a sum that does not worry Eggert Magnússon even if the West Ham chairman would prefer both the player and his present employers to compromise. Dyer’s long history of injury and illness remain concerns that, coupled with his salary, suggest Newcastle may be pressed to accept appearance-related payments. On Wednesday, Allardyce paved the way for Dyer’s departure for “family reasons”, an eventuality that most supporters would not bemoan. His eight years on Tyneside have been peppered with disciplinary problems, long absences and underachievement, while Dyer, who is not overjoyed at Allardyce’s desire to play him on the wing, is understood to accept that his career would best be served by relocation. That would leave Allardyce seeking reinforcements in midfield, but it is in defence where his priorities lie. The sight of Steven Taylor, the centre half, leaving the pitch in discomfort last night was a worrying development. Chris Mort, Newcastle’s new chairman, reiterated his support for Allardyce in programme notes that made no mention of Freddy Shepherd, Mort’s predecessor. “We have not set specific targets for Sam and we are not going to make wild promises for the future,” Mort said. “However, I think we have all been impressed by how Sam has set about his business.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premiership/newcastle/article2148332.ece
  23. imagine how f***** he was when he scored past the mackems ? True!
  24. Allardyce bigging up Luque on the official site saying he wanted both Luque and Eto'o when they were at Mallorca but he couldn't afford them Said they were trying to get Luque fit which would help him mentally. Apparently Luque is currently playing with pain! So a lame (literally!) striker put two past Celtic
