It has to be said we would be nothing without Jonas. has to be the most effective ineffective player ever. Everything goes through him and inevitably then puts us in decent positions.

Colo does well against strikers that do not overwhelm him physically.

Steven Taylor has such great attacking instincts. Should be a right back. Regarding Ameobi, he still has his moments of complete cluelessness, but I haven't seen him work this hard in forever and that includes the first game.

Martinez has already taught Zoggy how to look up and pass.

Martinez is going to be awesome for Wigan. Zoggy is really going to develop under him too. Why is he going to be awesome? Judging from what I saw from Swansea last season. Excellent football from a team that didn't really have any outstanding players. Wigan already has some decent players in place and with the backing of Whelan, and Martinez smarts in the transfer market I think he will be really good. Hopefully, I think he'll do well to be fair although I keep thinking back to Ince when I see this situation, though Martinez will be a completely different kind of manager and a lot more creative than Ince was, plus the gap isn't as big. Yeah, I think the experience of managing in the championship will put him in a better position than Ince was in. Outside of that though, I just think he is a cut above Ince as a manager. Swansea played some absolutely amazing stuff last season.

JK's posturing about not coming back due to his health were simply his efforts to secure a two year deal rather than a temporary gig. England are unspeakably bad. Completely incapable of playing the ball from back to front through midfield (it's like watching Newcastle!!!). Holland on the other hand play those lovely little balls through centre midfield and it opens everything else up. England are strictly hoof hoof hoof and when they're not doing that they are giving it away at the back with some shocking attempts to play it out from there. Pretty shocking stuff.

David O'Leary is probably my least favourite manager. Just a completely smug, slimey sort of individual. I really couldn't see any sort of good coming from appointing him. If Ashley stays I really hope he opts for Curbs.

From what David Craig has said the next thing I am expecting is the sale of more players. If Mike is insisting on getting £100 million then this is only going to be possible if the wage bill is reduced quite significantly. This has likely been the battle all summer. Getting rid of expensive players who are not attracting too much interest. The season is about to kick off though and clubs will be getting desperate now so it will be interesting to see what happens this week.
