It's funny watching him and thinking his physicality is not enough for the Premier League, all his coaches that doubted him probably thought the same about their level as well.

Yeah, I think he's made incredible progress in the last year, considering where he started off from.

Not sure how far he'll ultimately go, but he's young enough to have a chance if he continues to work hard and learn, like he has apparently been doing.

  2. Wasn't sure where to put this but thought folks would enjoy the story of the ridiculous rise of Gift Orban over the past year, as he is gaining a lot of hype in Belgium at the moment. It's an incredible story really, and one that almost didn't happen. I know there are so many guys like this that didn't quite get the right break at the right time and fell by the way side.

I'm still not 100% convinced on Diaby. He obviously has bags of potential, but his game is largely based on pace and finishing. I'm not sure that's what we need, especially in a league where he won't get oceans of space in behind.

That's not to say he won't be a good player, it just it feels like we need someone with a bit more creativity against the low block.

The Premier League tends to be quite open and high tempo so he would fit well I think.

However, having seen a fair bit of him now, I know what you mean. I think someone that plays with a bit more subtlety and 'cuteness' would be nice. Wouldn't be upset about Diaby at all though.

The news that Spurs might pass on Kulusevski has me all in on that move now. Especially for around £30 million?! That would be an unreal deal. The thought of him joining us instead and going on to be brilliant, and so making a fool of Spurs would be incredible. Would make up for the whole Modric fiasco.

Dont find any reason why we should go him over Diaby

    Never said we should do.

Just saw he was linked and when looking at the two, I noticed how poor Diaby's defensive numbers were in comparison, so just wondered if that might be something taken into consideration.

Mainly on the left isnt he? We need the finished article on the right side (and left for that matter) for the next signing.

He's left footed and is comfortable on either side if you look at where he has played over his career, also played a fair bit as a second striker and even sometimes up front.

De Zerbi is intensely competitive and has been attracting interest back in Italy so it feels like strong early moves to persuade him to stay.

Seems like he's quite happy to stay from what I've been reading. The Prem is the place to be right now, and with how well he's done at Brighton, likely getting them into Europe, at least one more year there makes a lot of sense.

Apparently that Mahmoud Dahoud is someone he tried to sign for Sassuolo when he was in charge there. He's also apparently trying to sign one of his players from Sassuolo for Brighton too, in Davide Frattesi.

Doesn't seem like he's even going to be leaving anytime soon.

Feel like Brighton are shooting their shot this Summer. Rather than signing unknowns they mould into world beaters, they're adding some established nous to go alongside what they already have.

Yeah, they're likely to be in Europe and so I think it makes sense.

Be shocked if it’s Leicester. Pretty sure this lad is the player @KaKa is a big fan of.

Id guess Brighton from that list based on how early they are doing their business.

Don't think it was me, as I haven't seen much of him, but know he was highly rated at Dortmund, but was in and out of the team due to some injuries previously.

That first window in January after the takeover we were linked with him very strongly, and there was a lot of talk that Dortmund were trying to tie him down to a new contract to discourage the interest, as his deal was due to be up at the end of this season.

It appears that never materialised and so if he's on a free, there's a good chance we may well be trying to sign him.

He's supposed to be a bit of an Ilkay Gundogan type I believe? Think he would be well worth a pick up on a free.

Kulusevski for the price mentioned (30-35 million?) would be a great buy. PL proven, good attitude, friend of Isak’s, will run all day with great energy levels and potential to hit double figures in both goals and assists. Think he’d fit in a Eddie Howe team perfectly.

I'm actually desperate for this to happen now

His profile is so well suited to Howe's style. Think Spurs haven't got anywhere near the best of him due to the way they setup.

He's never been a regular first choice, Lamptey, has he?

Aside from a worldie performance against us under that fat sack of kebab-eating shit, he's not been especially noticeable

He was pretty much first choice around that time with Brighton I think and was doing well regularly but then the injuries started piling up.

Spurs apparently may not be taking up their option on Kulusevski. Seems an odd one but for €35m he’d be a decent option.

    Wow. This is really interesting.

Think in a more attacking and dynamic side like ours he'd look superb.

He'd be a great fit teaming up alongside his fellow Swede Isak.

Jefferson Lerma on a free linked

Can't see this one happening. Just being linked because Howe bought him when he was at Bournemouth maybe?

Pretty average ball winning midfielder that commits a lot of fouls and isn't very good with the ball, as his touch and passing are not the best.

I don’t really care enough to even think that deeply about it to be honest. It is what it is. I just know it gets thrown around here (and elsewhere) quite a bit and is almost exclusively a number that is far different than the most important stat: goals actually scored.

Well I'll be darned ... you are Steve Bruce! ;)

xG as a stat means fuck all. It’s the hip thing to throw around right now but when it comes to any sort of goal stat there is only one that matters.

Isn't it just supposed to give some idea of the quality of chances created  and how well teams were able to take advantage of those chances?

Don't think it's supposed to be a predictor of results or anything like that.

As long as that Tyler Adams doesn’t play for Leeds we’ll be fine against their high press.

They don't press anymore. Allardyce will have them sitting deep, and I think that will really suit us as long as we stay patient and move the ball around well against the low block.

Every time I see him. He just makes the wrong decision every time.

Was at his best when he just played as a wing back bombing up and down the touch line. Was simple and straight forward for him. He's a fantastic athlete so it really suited him too.

But he keeps wanting to play in central midfield apparently and doesn't want to play as a full back/wing back anymore.
