You are robbing Sir Bobby Robson and Keegan of their acheivments, and imo underminding what they did at the club. I agree that Howe`s first 18months have been fantastic, but he still have some way to go before he reached those two legends.

Keegan was appointed to a team that was struggling in the second tier, and steadied the ship, brought us back to the premier league, and made us title contenders. The entertainers

Sir Bobby Robson also took over a complete hoples Newcastle at the time, we had 1 point from the first 6 games. Kenny Dalglish and Gullit had ripped appart our team and team Spirit. Sir Bobby managed to get us up to 11th with those players, and later he made us a top 4 team in the league for some seasons.

Give Howe some time before we crown him the best manager ever, remember even Pardew looked the real deal for a season.

Pardew never looked the real deal ever.

Constantly harping on about how good you are and how you are just as good as any top managers is NOT confidence. It is actually quite the opposite if you have to keep mentioning it all the time, instead of letting other people recognise that in you.

Good to see the same old trope of it being all about just having good players. Bruce used to say the same old garbage. Funny how Eddie Howe rocked up and used most of the same set of players he was ruining to turn things around at the club.

I doubt Allardyce would have even signed any of those players at Man City in the first place, the daft sod. Easy saying they're good players now they are doing great though.

    This man is so lame.

  3. The progress made in the last year, and the atmosphere that has developed around the club has been immense.

Huge factors in him being so happy to remain and continue on the journey, so kudos to everyone involved tbh.

He's the centrepiece to it all and now he has his own team to be the face of, that can really push on towards challenging in the Premier League and Europe.

Loved the bit in the presser where he's asked about Allardyce's comments and how he stacks himself up against Pep, Klopp, etc. Just says he concentrates on himself and being the best version he can be. It was perfect really and a timely reminder, given Allardyce's return, that we've moved so far past the self-obsessed unjustified arrogance of their ilk.

I sometimes wish he'd come out swinging a bit more, sure, but the novelty of having a manager I don't hate will never wear off.

I've never really been a fan of all that sort of bravado. Those types of managers typically don't ever take full responsibility when their teams struggle and always start throwing the players under the bus or some other nonsense, and don't look at what they can improve.

Think Howe is first class in his temperament and approach to when things are both going well and also when they are not going so well. We are very very fortunate to have such a manager.

Tells you the buying clubs' transfer operators are scared and confused too.

Certainly at the bigger clubs. They are always so tied to paying huge amounts on players that feel have already proven themselves. They are mostly really awful at bringing through players of their own that they have nurtured themselves.

There are some on here who have a history of going off the deep end about everything. Pilko is not one I would put into that category at all. He was measured and talking a lot of sense when some of the weirdos on here were talking abouit how Benitez was done and was going to relegate us back in 2017-18. There are others on here who would doom merchant over potential sponsors. It's like their version of a German fetish with just a little less shit to clean off the chest.

So painful reading back over those posts from page 560 man, and all the usual suspects show up like clock work.

What I don't understand is why they always speak so matter of factly, and with such certainty, about how shit someone is after such little time?!

I can understand expressing some concern and not being sure if he was the right hire for the predicament we were in, but some of the proclamations of him being shit, or a wet blanket, or clueless, or no better than Bruce! ... my God.

    he turned us down iirc.

I really like the look of him, think he'd do great in the Prem.

Yeah, he's quality. Looked really good at Nantes.

Was surprised Frankfurt were able to get him as a free agent tbh.

His number for them this year are fantastic both in goals and assists. Really well rounded striker.

Amazing business for Frankfurt to make a £100 million on a player they signed for free in just a year. That's ridiculous.

Frankfurt signed Kolo Muani on a free just last summer man

Now they are going to get a £100 million for him in just a year. That is absolutely excellent work by their recruitment team and staff.

We're four clear of Liverpool with a game in a hand, won the league cup and are in the FA Cup final. This has been a great season so far to be honest.

All it takes is Arsenal and us to win at the weekend and half the forum will wet the bed again.

Well you're the one wetting the bed right now son

You seem incredibly flustered man. Imagine Liverpool hunting you down and nicking that top 4 spot right at the end of the season

Every time we've lost we've rebounded with a win.

Most of us had Brighton away as a loss anyway. They could only score a penalty against us in 180 minutes with a makeshift defence. We've done well.

Amazing celebrations on here. Biggest of the season so far. I hope you celebrate getting top four more.

    Stop crying Frog man.

Of course we're happy with that result, bodes well for us sealing a top 4 place, which Isak is powering us to

Meanwhile Martial is fumbling all over the place upfront for you, while you're £90 million man is throwing tantrums because nothing is coming off for him.

Just be grateful you didn't get a pair of red cards tonight.

Gave him the Youtube test..... creativity wise I prefer Maddison by a long shot.

A lot of his creativity comes from set pieces and Nkunku turning half chances into goals.

Seems a more vertical type player which  is good.

    And of course... Bundesliga tax.

I don't think they are that far off creatively, however Szoboszlai is more of a ball carrier and so he will do that a lot more, while Maddison will move the ball with his passing more often as he won't carry it as much, so I hear you.

I think Szobozslai's athleticism and physicality is better suited to Howe's style of play, and he is a full 4 years younger, and so will have room to grow still, and so for me I like the fit more.

He's looked really comfortable against Prem sides in the Champions League too, and so think he will transition to the league very nicely.

No nothing about him but sounds a better fit than Maddison from descriptions given. If intensity is indeed our identity then I never see how Maddison was ever serious target unless the price was very agreeable and is probably no more than a smokescreen for other targets. Also because of the progress we’ve made this season we may of skipped a transition phase of signings which Maddison might of realistically originally been part of but now with our style of play producing such good results we might be looking for this type of player combining the best of both styles.

This is a really nice breakdown of his game if you're interested.

I am on my knees for Szoboszlai

He is absolute quality man. For all the people that wanted Maddison and envisioned him on the right side, Szoboslai offers the same type of game, but more dynamic and suited to high tempo pressing more. Very versatile player too and excellent set piece taker. His breakdown on whoscored is disgustingly good.

Its just the classic tactic of trying to take the pressure off the players by having all the attention on himself. Mourinho and Ferguson were masters of it - though they didnt look half as undignified as Allardyce.

Think you're giving him way too much credit man
