  1. The USA has good enough athletes (yes, even the ones left over after basketball, american football, hockey and baseball have taken the very best of them), however unless these kids start joining European clubs at a very young age i.e. after high school, rather than playing college soccer, they will have no hope. Look at Hargreaves, he joined bayern at a young enough age to truly develop into a good player despite not growingup in Europe. Adu is also still young enough to make something of himself if he is truly dedicated to doing so, as he has made the move to Europe while still young.
  2. I'm not sure Keegan was ever that interested in Dunne. Probably just linked due to him having managed him at Man City. Looks to me like Keegan is more interested in Cuellar. Dunne's age, salary and relative similarity to Faye and Taylor might have ruled him out.
  3. It is hilarious, like. It is though! The same guys dismissing him will tell you we should get Lennon, which is an absolute abomination.
  4. Just a very good all around midfielder. Good passer, lovely technique, can beat a man with a nice little move, however won't blow by them as he does lack real pace. He also has a good workrate and doesn't shy away from defensive work, although not a great tackler or battler per se he will make a nuisance of himself.
  5. It's so funny, but this is the kind of player Mark Hughes or Moyes would pick up for a pittance with no one batting an eyelid and then when they start flying everyone acts surprised. Stephen Warnock, David Bentley, Jagielka, Lescott, etc. If any of these had been suggested prior to joingin either blackburn or Everton I wonder what the reactions would have been. PUT A BID IN!
  6. I like him. Would do better in a three man midfield than he has as a winger, where he lacks a bit of pace. The guy is only 22 years old but has a lot of prem experience and a good background at Arsenal. I would definitely go for him. Could be another Bentley situation all over again. He and Bentley performed at a pretty similar level at Arsenal. He has arguably done better at Birmignham than Bentley did at Norwich. I remember wanting Bentley when he was available after leaving Arsenal and there were a lot of naysayers then, claiming he was an average Arsenal cast off ... Basically, the guy is so cheap that it can't really hurt us too much. At the worst he would be a very good squad player. He has more quality than Milner, Duff and Smith so why the hell not. He's so young theres no telling how good he could become. Also a full Swedish international so he's getting a lot of great experience. Put that bid in.
  7. How much did those greedy twats get in the end then?

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Clichy not even making the squad as well who could be argued is just as good. EDIT: You b******. Clichy is the most complete of all three in my opinion. Domenech is nuts. Hard to say between him & Evra tbh. Evra is slightly better at defending but i'd say Clichy is better offensively. Abidal is a much defender than both but has been gash this season and offers little in the final 3rd. Agrred Abidal has been really awful and as you say doesn't do enough when he gets forward. It really should be a head to head between Clichy and Evra. I prefer Clichy's game though. I think he is tougher than Evra and has better stamina. That guy just doesn't seem to tire all game, and he constantly gets up and down the pitch. Tough call between the two though.

    6 + 5 = 2012

This is an important point. The last thing you want is for English lads to feel they are entitled to a place in the team. Just yesterday Capello was emphasizing the point that it's not really about the quantity of English players, but more the quality. I believe the foreigners are really psuhing English youngsters to improve and become better, quality players. Take that genuine competition away and I feel the overall quality of theseplayers will be greatly reduced.

Way, way down. Could really see him doing well in the tournament too. Anelka and Henry have had long seasons and are a bit older, more jaded etc. Gomis and Benzema could really breakthrough in the Euros.

People say the stupidest things ... it's not just about scoring against Ecuador is it! The guy has been banging in goals ever since he was introduced into the St. Etienne first team, he looks to be a real powerhouse striker with pace, athleticism and some fine finishing ability. He is also only 22 years old. The match against Ecuador was his first introduction to the full national team and he didn't seem to be overawed or intimidated at all. He scored two quality goals which were very good finishes regardless of the opposition. Now taking all of this into account I would say people have every right to be impressed.
  13. If they gave us either Palacios or Valencia in return I would take that deal.
  14. Dos Santos is a lefty isn't he? Left footed but plays on the right for Barca. Even when Messi was injured, Henry was prefered on the left than him. MJ what the point in the Dos Santos signing if we're looking to get Bentley in too?. Smacks of us neglecting the positions that actually need strengthning yet again.. I doubt Dos Santos would be brought in to start in the first team, besides he also playes as a second striker.

Americans can't play "soccer" so no.

Now that is a sobering thought
  17. Signing Bentley would mean the end of Lennon tbh. Aye, and Kewell the end of Malbranque.

Too late my friend ... we'll have to hope for other irons in the fire.

We'd obviously have a chance (provided the top four don't come sniffing), but these goals tonight won't help us. If nothing else, they'll add a few million onto the asking price. Has he been named in France's Euro 2008 squad? Likely he will be after that debut (added to the squad that is). At the very least he would be a heck of a player to bring off the bench if they are chasing the game. I don't think they have any other striker like him at the moment who is big and strong. The closest thing is probably Trezeguet and he's been left out completely. Doesn't look anything like Trezeguet to me. I meant stature wise the only other French striker who even comes close is Trezeguet. As Trezeguet has been left out of the squad completely, it is likely Gomis will be named in the final squad now as he is so different to the other French strikers i.e. more of a target manish sort. Comprende?
  20. Dos Santos is a lefty isn't he?
