Even with the Modric signing they still lack character, I still feel they are a fancy pants team and nothing more. They severely lack physical strength and explosiveness. Till they add a bit of this I think they will continue to struggle. I'm yet to be convinced.

Loser. To good not to be playing every week and making an impact somewhere. What a bum. What a ridiculous thing to say. He obviously thinks that he is good enough to force his way into the squad, so why should he not stay? That is like saying that anyone in our reserves should leave and go to a lesser club, for they are more likely to start in the first eleven. I cannot stand the whole 'would rather be playing for a lesser club than trying, and failing, to get into a better one' argument. He is an ambitious lad and leaving Chelsea for a team other than Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal would be a massive risk. Footballers cannot win. If they stay at a club and try and force their way into its starting eleven, they are classed as 'bums' who are clearly doing it for the money. Speculation-tastic. Good luck to the lad. I personally do not think that he will break into the squad, but fair play for continuing to try in spite of the fact that he could end up getting dropped from the England squad if he does not start playing regular football soon. He is a bum. He should be demanding to get the hell out of there! It's been two years of being mucked about at Chelsea while his best years go to waste. He is good enough to be in any other team other than maybe Man U. How he still thinks he can break into that team is beyond me. Chelsea are a joke and will continue to sign more players every window. They clearly don't believe in him enough. Avram Grant has been playing Salomon Kalou ahead of him for goodness sake. He's no 20 year old either he shouldn't have to be waiting around, he's a freakin' England international who should be in his prime right now. In my opinion he's an idiot and he should never have gone there. After that phenomenal season at City, both Arsenal and Liverpool were interested. I would have demanded to go to one of them rather than Chelsea. If he had he would be a fixture in their first teams. SWP you are a big fat hairy bum.

It is pretty annoying, but you just have to take it for what it is. It's still interesting discussing the players and learning about different players and how they might fit into our team and stuff. This link did seem like a very strong one though, so I am pretty surprised. We are probably in discussions with them to sell Emre, while someone else is in for Turan.

honestly spurs can and will Shut it.

I'm not worried about Tottenham or any other club as there are so many potentially young and promising players out there, as opposed to chasing the few established and experienced, not to mention expensive guys out there. I mean honestly, I only recently heard about the likes of Gomis, Gomez and Turan and all our rivals are not going to be able to sign every player under the sun so we'll get some good young talent in for sure, they are certainly out there, and we stand a chance with the strong setup we have at the moment. My only concern would be how soon. The earlier the better I say, and it is something we haven't really done for a while now, which is getting players in early and allowing them to bed in well before the season starts. Landing a target or two before the Euro tourney would be a great start and a very positive move.

Someone like Campbell might be getting a lot in wages but this is possible because he was signed on a free ditto for Distin.

I was just wondering where in France the restaurant he went to was.

What part of France ? You do know there are quite a few brothas out there with dreads don't you? You sure you about this? Did you hear Gomis name mentioned at any point?

Where is the transfer speculation? This thread stinks

Lets all calm down now. I have to admit I did want Cardiff to win this today. I think once Portsmouth knew they were playing a championship team they have pretty much felt the cup was theirs since then. Hence the lack of excitement. Pretty infuriating.

Are Man City confirmed? Read somewhere that Fulham might have got the fair play position. Man City confirmed yesterday, yes.

Everton, Portsmouth, Man City, Tottenham and Villa. All in Europe next season (Villa through the intertoto). Tough summer of recruitment for us

Never take off your best players when there is still a chance of extra time. Redknapp is a dumb ass.
-
Impossible. Your grammar is really slipping too.

Campbell is struggling

Quite stunning that! This guy has blown a hell of a lot of money on a bunch of players who don't even make the team anymore. Shocking stuff.

Damien Comolli faces questions over future Gary Jacob Damien Comolli is fighting to save his position as Tottenham Hotspur sporting director. The Frenchman has this summer's transfer window to recoup some of the substantial amount of money that the club have spent, under his direction, on players in recent seasons or risk being sacked in the autumn after three years in his post. Comolli's tenure has come under scrutiny in part because of the estimated fall in the value of some of his expensive acquisitions and some disagreements with Juande Ramos, the Tottenham head coach. Darren Bent, Younès Kaboul, Ricardo Rocha and Kevin-Prince Boateng cost a combined fee of about £32million in the past 18 months, but they are now arguably worth half that sum. This has led to questions about whether Comolli is delivering value for money. Tottenham would not want to disrupt their transfer strategy this summer by dismissing Comolli now. Daniel Levy, the chairman, has shown that he is willing to give his staff an opportunity to turn things around. He backed Glenn Hoddle when the board voted on his managerial future five years ago and supported Martin Jol, the manager last summer, when one director at the club wanted to replace the Dutchman with Harry Redknapp, the Portsmouth manager. Some fans have questioned Comolli's ability to spot a good player, but that does not appear to be a concern inside the club. However, there is some disquiet at White Hart Lane at the money - and hence profit - that could be raised by the sale of the players who have arrived under Comolli. There are also questions over the fees paid for some players. Gilberto, a 31-year-old Brazil left back, cost £1.8million in January, when he had six months remaining on his contract at Hertha Berlin. He arrived overweight and unfit. Boateng was bought for nearly £5million last summer, also from Hertha, despite Seville, the other suitor, offering half as much. Before that, eyebrows were raised at the arrivals of Danny Murphy and Mido for a combined fee of £6.5million. Comolli will have a chance to realign his transfer balance sheet, with Dimitar Berbatov expected to realise a profit of about £17million on the £10.9million paid to Bayer Leverkusen in 2006, if the Bulgaria forward leaves. Signings are not only the responsibility of Comolli. Every member of Tottenham's management group, comprising Levy, Comolli, Ramos and John Alexander, the club secretary, are supposed to agree about a particular player. However, Jol has since complained that he did not want some of the acquisitions, while Ramos rejected eight players offered to him in January. The club backed Comolli during his disagreements with Jol, but it is not certain that they will do so with Ramos, who holds a stronger bargaining position. There is no suggestion that the club will discard their continental structure, brought in by Levy. Ramos enjoyed success working under the system at Seville, where Ramón Rodríguez Monchi, the sporting director with whom he had an uncomfortable relationship, was credited with discovering the best players. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/tottenham/article3950212.ece

Utter bollocks. £10m was the rumour I heard No club could even buy his right boot for that, nevermind our rivals. I've only heard it the once though, hardly a major rumour. The Owen and Gera ones are a lot more widespread. Joleon Lescott ... what a monumental signing that was. It's always the successes that you don't quite anticipate that are the sweetest. The likes of Lescott and even Jagielka have shone so brightly for Everton this season, but you suggest Newcastle by a player from one of the relegated teams or a championship team and you will immediately hear some say buying from these teams is aiming too low.
