Aye. He was top of my world cup wish list! Thought he was superb.Yeah, really think we could do with another left footer capable of cutting in from the right wing too, and he fills that need as well as being able to play upfront.
Crazy thing is he came close to joining Everton in the summer and really wants to come to the Premier League, so he'd be very open to the move. Wonder how much Ajax would be after.

Can't wait till both Gordon and McTominay are confirmed. Going to be an absolute hoot!

Kompany is something else man. Doing a spectacular job with Burnley.

I see from the last few pages the sheets are slowly getting damper and the onset of a full blown set of soiled bedsheets has begun

Someone's clearly run out to get him a shirt for the photo. Goodness knows what he turned up in that they had to do that

Can't imagine he'd have given too much thought to the "what if" scenario for a ridiculous bid for Chris Wood, though.
It probably features a unicorn, father Christmas and a leprechaun.
Don't think it's a case of considering 'what if' before then looking at players.
The recruitment team are just continuously looking at prospects and gathering info on players that fit the team and what Howe is looking for in every position.

Where are we led to believe that from? His time at Brighton?
Yeah, it was Brighton's whole ethos under him.
Have to say I think Nickson and the recruitment team have also done an excellent job in continuing to scout and gather information on players even under Ashley when they continued to look at players we weren't likely to sign under him.
I remember reading a bit on Nickson and his team and they apparently already had Botman and I think Guimaraes on the radar under Mike Ashley.

Yeah sounds like it was too good to turn down and unexpected so no replacement lined up.
Howe said we have a pool of players we like as far as replacements are concerned, but obviously he can't guarantee how negotiations will go for any of those options. So wouldn't say no replacements lined up. Just a matter of if we can land any of them.

Been a lot of discussions on Isak and where he can play on here.
Howe clears it all up at the 6 minute mark. Enjoy.

Will throw Sarr's name into the mix again
Not a bad shout. Has looked great this season, and has stayed fit. Watford are a pain in the backside to negotiate with though, and they will not be looking to lose him.

I cannot see any kind of reasoning behind going for Ziyech. He's been shocking at Chelsea, he's not a young player that you'd think might improve, he gets injured a lot, and he's likely on a big wage coming from those clowns. Would be a horrid move.

Ship has sailed on Ramos. This past summer was the time to do a deal for him.
Going to cost £60 million at the least going forward now. Don't think we'll be looking to spend that much on another striker.

Sounds like he wants someone versatile up top, a Marcus Thuram if you like..
Arnaut Danjuma would have made a ton of sense too, as he can also play across the front line and has experience of the league and so would be ready to play in that regard.
However, it's been pointed out that he didn't feature as much under Howe at Bournemouth and really only came to the fore after Howe left, and so maybe Eddie doesn't rate him as highly.

I definitely got the feeling it wasn’t Howe’s decision to let him go either.
I got the feeling they weren't looking to move him necessarily, but that Forest made a really good offer that made sense from a financial and longer term view, which is good reasoning.

My student said Modric, which was a nice thought
Oh wow ... if we're getting some sort of Modric and Joelinton hybrid that would be one heck of a player!

To be honest, they get asked the same questions from multiple journalists, multiple times a week, that must take up a good 3/4 hours of time a week, I can imagine it can get grating.
Imagine getting asked a series of questions every time you finished work for the day, would be infuriating
It's part of the gig though, just give some equally dull and moronic answer and pretend to enjoy it and keep it moving. It's such a bad look all that attitude
I appreciate Eddie Howe more and more every day man. He is so so good at all aspects of being a manager. Always hits the right tone even with the post match interviews.
-
Why are these managers so irritable all the time when asked questions after the match man ... just answer the questions and keep it pushing, you already know what it is and it can be a bit daft, just give your cookie cutter answers and get on with it

Recent Brazilian student of mine is massively into football, he's a Corinthians mega fan. I messaged and asked him what he thinks.
Thinks he can develop into a top CM. Has played quite a bit on the wing and in more advanced positions as he's so quick but thinks ultimately he's going to be best suited to playing in the middle. Always looking for the ball and is plenty physical even at age 18 and will develop into a bit of a beast.
He's quite excited at the prospect of Flamengo losing him, any way.
I read a scouting report and he sounded like a young Joelinton. Can apparently play up top, attacking mid, either wing and central mid, and is very aggressive and committed defensively.

The lady in the studio, who's name I didn't see, is probably one of the best female pundits they've had in there. Can see she really has a good understanding of the game and some good insights.

Son looks completely burnt out.
Spurs have completely wasted both his and Kane's best years for the most part. Think they'll both need to move on this summer.

Grealish is such a pansy man. Was strong enough to stay on his feet and keep driving forward, but just loves falling over and going to ground

Yeah, he's even played some games in central midfield as a number 8 at times too. Very versatile high energy type of player, which would suit us very well.
