If the right player is available that we really want and there’s a deal to be done why wait until the summer? Someone please explain this to me? Why stand “still” IF we can improve our chances now already when it comes to reaching top 4. Even if we don’t make the CL then we have signed a player that improves us. It’s one less signing to make in the summer. By saying this I wish to clarify that I don’t think we should sign a player for the sake of it, or thinking short term. I’d like to think that we are attractive enough now for most players, or players that are more than good enough for now and the long term. I mean we might even be more attractive now compared to say that we don’t strengthen and risk not making the top 4 and try for players in the summer instead. Personally I can see the club rebalancing its budget. At least I hope so if there’s the right deal to be done.

i don’t understand the “we don’t need” to.

If the right deal is available to be done i.e. a player we like at a value that matches ours, we will absolutely do it this window.

However, in January I imagine either the ones we really want won't be as readily available, and even if they are we'd likely have to pay over the odds.

Looks like there'll be a lot of movement this January though, and so maybe some of the players we like will be made available at a realistic price.

They've been fucking most of us and our families over since the 80s, so get fucked

    My goodness man

Okay, well I hope things get better for you all.

They're only systematically decimating the country, no big deal.

Okay ... but how is going on about in on a football forum helping.

Of course not, but your posts were pretty fucking crass in the circumstances imo like.

Considering your main gripe seems to be about people posting over the top 'abuse' online (in itself an over the top description imo) about Joelinton's drunk driving, it seems a bit odd to then go over the top with the things you say to someone who has suffered the consequences of drink driving.

I only ever responded to his behaviour. Had nothing to do with whatever circumstance he has been through, and I'm sorry but you can't just go around taking that stuff out on other people that had nothing to do with it, even if they have been found guilty of a similar action.

Joelinton will get his punishment. Not sure what else people want. Just not a fan of the online group raging.

I hear you though. In all honesty I should have just exited the thread and not said a thing, if I found it all a bit annoying. I'll certainly keep that in mind for next time.

Not sure telling someone who's lost a love one to a drunk driver to grow up and that they're pathetic is 'saying the reaction is over the top' tbh.

I said he was pathetic after he said I was stupid, because I though it was a pathetic response.

And you know what, he's also not the only one that has been through some horrid shit by the way.

Howe's comments are pretty much perfect (as expected), and pretty much echo my own thoughts.

Joelinton has been pretty much a model professional since being with the club, and has by all accounts done a load of outreach and community work since he joined. He made a crappy mistake, like we all do at times, but that doesn't define him as a person, and one action doesn't change everything before it, so as long as he uses it as a learning moment, and is genuinely remorseful and more importantly owns his mistake, then everything will be kosher.

I'm a big believer that how you respond to mistakes is what defines you, everyone slips up every now and again, its natural and human, and so long as no-one gets hurt, what you do to rectify said mistake, is more important then the actual mistake itself.

Genuinely the normal defence that Tories run on a daily basis

You lot and the fucking Tories man

Always whining and bitching about them all the time. Utterly pathetic!

Kaka wouldn't have done a good job defending OJ.

You lot don't even understand the difference between defending him and me saying the reaction is over the top.

But you all seem to be having fun with the narrative so please do carry on.

Danilo is supposed to be very very good. Had a bad spell towards the end of the season, hence, the lower price than expected. Wonder if we should’ve been in for him. Young central midfielder that seems to have a lot of potential.

That Joao Gomes Wolves are signing is supposed to be really highly rated too right?

Lots of really decent central midfielders moving around. Hope we can land one ourselves.

Seems fairly clear that a lot of the players aren’t really playing for him plus he’s missing absolutely loads of key players. He’s toiling badly and it’s great to see as it’s all self inflicted.

Some job Marco Silva is doing too. Always quite liked him and his striking Portuguese looks. A fine man.

Always thought Everton messed up getting rid of Marco Silva. He's very good.

  11. Actually one of my team mates sisters in secondary school was killed that exact way.

However, in this culture of drinking I realise this is always going to continue to be an issue. He will get a harsh punishment and it will be down to him to learn from it.

Ranting and railing against him online achieves absolutely nothing and will not right any wrong you have suffered. But I've had enough of this so carry on if you wish.

I don't have the luxury of anything, but I've had the devastation of having someone very close to me killed by someone driving whilst over the limit. It's not a point scoring exercise ffs.

Well now you've abused him online I hope you feel better. I'm sure that's made a real difference.

Some of you really are some odd balls.

Boo him? Ban him for 6 months? Have any of you ever made a mistake? Have you no more info than news story? He was charged, he was not convicted. Thankfully nobody is hurt. Thankfully he isn't hurt.

He will be dealt with by law and the club.

He's a human being who's done a fuck load of good for the club and the city, but hey let's jsut make shit memes and songs and jokes about him.

You're wasting your breath man. Let them get on with it.

A lot of people are just desperate for any of these footballers to make a mistake so they can have a reason to hurl abuse at them and castigate them, because deep down they resent their success and wealth. Happens all the time.

The man will receive his punishment in due course and rightly so, and he will hopefully learn from it.

You'd think he's pulled out a machine gun and killed 5 people the way some people are acting. Stupid thing to do but he's human and will learn from it. Christ.

They all have the luxury of not having anyone being able to look into all the shit they've ever done. It's so fucking pathetic man.

We'll be playing a weakened side as well. We'll be prioritising the Arsenal game and the FA Cup over this I'm sure.

Apart from Antony and Dalot/Martinez coming back from injury it was an entire second string last night.

Not shocking if you get Nottingham in the final but I'm sure you want us.

This is another thing. You lot have a lot of games coming up that are arguably greater priorities.

Their record is nearly good as ours. The 2nd leg is at Old Trafford and they're not allowed to play Henderson. It would take something seriously special like

The Henderson thing is so unfortunate for them that's for sure.

I just think they'll be a bigger headache over two legs than Southampton though and they'll cause Man Utd problems with their pace upfront.

Going to be very interesting. Glad we got Southampton instead.

Would’ve preferred Forest, but that’ll do pig. Counting the days to the second leg already.

Nah man. They've settled on that front three of Awoniyi and Johnson upfront with Gibbs-White behind, and they are building some familiarity and consistency. Lots of pace and unpredictability between them all.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they knock off Man Utd. God knows who they'll pick up leading up to the 23rd of Jan too.
