Every other nation has gone for pragmatism to win this tournament. Brazil went for the samba, dancing, fairies approach and rightly got dumped out.

Part of their problem is that Neymar is undroppable. When your star player offers nothing for 85 minutes, it's no suprise that you struggle.

If they actually decided to build a team out of hard working, pressing players, who were prepared to put a shift in and play football, they might get somewhere.

I've no sympathy, they didn't select Joelinton who would have been perfect for them today and they played Paqueta and Fred over Bruno who is twice the player of either.

Football has moved on, you don't get to just pick your flair players anymore. Fuck em.

I think they have players good enough to allow for Neymar to feature and provide a moment of brilliance.

The problem is they have him in there in midfield with Paqueta, which is crazy. Casemiro was pretty much alone in there.

If you have Neymar in there with Casemiro and Bruno I think it probably works out fine tbh. Their coach is having a laugh.

Honestly, that Croatia goal. They're breaking and Antony is walking. If you're ever gonna track a runner, track him when it's in the last minute or ETv when youre on as a sub.

6 of them forward and they're jogging back.

Yeah, only to then be bawling his eyes out at the end.

Should have put more into it when the game was still being played.

Southgate really left Foden and Wilson on the bench at 0-0 and brought on Henderson to shore up the midfield

the arrogance here after the fact is amusing too, don’t deflect it on shit Lebron Jokes…

to be clear our left side of defense consist of two guys at Fulham, our other center back is considered “the best mls center back” (whatever  that means) and Dest is allegedly another Yedlin to you lot (you know, a player who loved Rafa, our club and hated Bruce but people still want to call out).

Get some rest, direct the anger to Gareth!

Why doesn't Cameron-Vickers start? I feel like he is better than at least one of your centre backs, but maybe I'm wrong.

As much as I love Sterling, he has to be dropped for Foden. Foden and Saka either side is easily our best attack. Mount starting so high up centrally and Kane dropping back just means we have too many centrally. We need to push Kane forward by moving the ball up the sides rather than through the middle, then those behind can support rather than hinder.

I agree. They restricted the gaps in midfield and it needed someone really clever to drop into tight spaces and combine quick passes to open them up.

Not a situation for Sterling to shine in at all. Foden, Kane and Saka would have manged to string something together in there I think.

Cannot believe Foden isn't an integral part of this team.

US are a striker away from being quite good.

That striker they had actually looked alright. Quick, athletic and strong. Has scored well in the Turkish league of late.

They didn't really get the ball to him enough in the final third, to really allow us to see how he would actually take a chance created for him.

Absolutely love that USA midfield though. Very very talented.

Was mad how far back he was so often, compared to where we'd usually see him. Definitely been told.

The USA played a very tight midfield block that needed players in the England side to drop in there and be able to play quick combination passes, but they seemed very hesitant to do so. They looked as if they had no idea of how to deal with that.

This is a horse shit take. The U.S. were not dross. Their midfield played well.

Some real bad takes here in general.

As a neutral observer of the game I thought the USA looked great. Just a bit hesitant with the final ball especially from out wide. Trying to cut back instead of whipping across earlier.

The USA looked a much more modern and dynamic side. Made England look like a plodding outfit that weren't sure of what to do to open them up.

England desperately need a more modern manager before this generation of talent goes to waste. That really is the issue with them.

It's not that strange a thought from BG given that in the aftermath of the last England tournament game several of our players were racially abused.

As a black African man, reading the comment made me cringe tbh. I found it embarrassing.

It's just the internet though so whatever. In real life, I would have stood up and gone elsewhere. Find it incredibly uncomfortable how much you lot go on about race.

We just watched a great game and nothing racial happened whatsoever, and there's always someone aching to go on about how '4 black lads scored' and how the racists must be so mad.

It's really weird man. But you lot really seem to gain something from this sort of chat so carry on I guess. But I want you all to know it's really weird.
