  1. Yeah, it's not a bad shout. Especially while we don't have a quality option at right wing to create more threat. Once we do upgrade that right wing spot, Joelinton's deficiencies won't be as much of an issue. And we can just let him be the midfield enforcer he is. Willock will really need to be productive in those moments he starts though, because he is too inconsistent. We lose a lot of energy, physicality, ball winning, and set piece help in both boxes, if we're subbing in Willock for Joelinton. He'd really have to make it worthwhile. Personally, I'd probably just have Willock come on as an early sub, if we need some extra threat rather than have him outright alternate as a starter with big Joe.
  2. I think it will get better once these three settle in and get more familiar with the current setup. Joelinton will still have his moments where he may be a bit loose with the ball, but we should be better protected with Tonali deeper now. I think once we get a quality right winger in the team that will also help, so we are not also compromised in that position too, like we were with Murphy against Liverpool. I'd actually like to see Joelinton encouraged to get further forward and not be as involved in the initial build up closer to our goal. Let Tonali and Bruno deal with that, and down the left Hall can also take on those responsibilities (inverting at times if need be). That will help avoid a lot of those dangerous turnovers.
  3. I'm hoping Bruno further forward will be our low block buster. Adding in a right winger with some guile and nous, or at the very least quality to get to the byline and provide dangerous cutbacks will help too.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

This is mostly the UK media being lazy. There have been links with players in the mould of Huijsen at centre back. Joel Ordonez at Brugge. Abdukodir Khusanov at Lens. Tomas Araujo at Benfica. And for right wingers we've also been linked with similar younger talents too. Geovany Quenda at Sporting. Johan Bakayoko at PSV. Maghnes Akliouche at Monaco. We might go for an experienced player still in those positions but I think it will only be if the deal is really great value. For example the recent rumours Tomori is available for £25 million this January and he wants to return to the Prem.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

We were linked last year and I watched him in a few European games off the back of it, and I liked him a lot. Really seemed to play with intelligence and awareness, but still had good physicals and ability on the ball. I think he's been on our radar, but perhaps Mitchell has now been able to provide more info or data, or might now just be giving us the confidence to make this kind of move. Guess we'll see.
  6. Yeah, exactly. I'm really looking forward to it. It's an unbelievable ability he has that we haven't fully capitalised on yet. As your examples show, him being in that position was instrumental to our performance yesterday.
  7. I feel like he's always been our most creative player, it just didn't show as much because he was deeper, and even then he still managed it a lot of times. Almiron's purple patch was largely due to the understanding he developed with Bruno, who always spotted his runs in behind, even from that deeper spot. I think we're going to be blown away by how much more creative he'll be further forward. When he first came in from Lyon and all his highlights were doing the rounds, the first thing that stood out were the ridiculous through balls he played to forward players.
  8. Yup, constantly played the pass that put us in position to threaten or threaded the killer ball himself. Could see Isak was excited to have him closer to him. We will see a lot of passes sending Isak clear from Bruno.
  9. Worth watching for how gutted Carragher is every time we score and then when we equalise late on. Neville's misery while they lose to Arsenal is great too. Quite enjoyable seeing them both suffer as they're both so incredibly biased and annoying when they cover their teams during matches.

That's fair enough. I do think if he was playing week in week out he'd benefit, and his all around game wouldn't be looked at as poorly. The options Villa use there currently got example all are kind of bring shoehorned in there, and aren't as good. It'll be interesting to see what happens but I think clubs will come in for him.

Rogers plays just behind Watkins. None of those others are really left wingers, and none have had close to the production Barnes has had down that side. I think you underestimate what Barnes has been able to contribute in goals and assists in the Premier league, even when he was at Leicester. If we make him available we'll see. I'm certain there will be interest. Perhaps some of the clubs even battling to stay up would see him as a big signing that gets them over the line. Time will tell.

Villa were apparently looking at him around the time we signed him. They currently use McGinn and Ramsey on that side. I could see them signing Barnes. They don't really have a left winger, which is one of their issues. Brentford are comfortably established in the Prem now. They spent £30 million on an unproven Brazilian striker from Belgium this past summer. Barnes is on around the same as what they pay Aaron Hickey from what I can see, so not beyond the realms of possibility.

No for the first two based on what exactly? And for Fulham and West Ham what makes you think they have no more room to spend?

    £40 million?! Yes, absolutely!
  16. Man, this is pretty disgraceful from such an experienced player and previous captain. Must be absolutely killing the vibe around the place. As one of the people that thought we should have accepted the Bayern January bid as both Tino and Krafth were fit and available at the time, this is extremely annoying. It would have been good for him to get away too and link up with Kane who he's apparently close to, and who is a very stable guy. We have mismanaged his situation pretty badly.
  17. Yeah, it's not a bad shout, and I don't know why it hasn't been tried yet when the alternatives are Murphy and Almiron tbh. However, now Bruno is in that RCM position, it should improve things regardless of who is on that side now, until we can upgrade the position.
  18. Very well suited to breaking the press as he is uncannily great at it.
  19. This guy is an absolute mess if all this is true. Can't be helping the atmosphere around the place. Hope we move him on quickly when the window opens.
  20. Had some really poor moments today, but he kept going and didn't let his head drop, which was great to see, and he ended up with a really great goal. Just needs to now not be moved around any more, so he can build on this and really get into a rhythm.
  21. Very very annoying, but at least we have arrived here now, and there will be no more second guessing going forward, as all that has been done now.
  22. Really like that he just left Gordon on the left today. Some frustrating moments still, but it ultimately got him a great goal that should hopefully get him up and running now. It's taken a while but good to also see Tonali deeper and Bruno further forward. Really looking forward to that combo against teams that sit in deep against us. Think we'll find solutions to open them up more easily now. Eddie keeps plugging away. Think he should just stick with the current midfield and Gordon on the left now and let that all bed in. We'll see what happens with recruitment as the coming windows come around. If he and Mitchell are on the same page, I could really see things progressing well.
  23. Infinitely more dangerous when his forward runs into space are spotted and he is threaded through like Bruno did on the goal. Could see him reaching another level with more of that kind of service through the middle. Going to be very interesting to see how things go with that relationship developing further the rest of the season now.
  24. Pretty outrageous it's taken this long to get him in there. Thought he was great defensively, and just so efficient and sharp moving the ball. Improves our defending in midfield and allows Bruno the freedom to make things happen for our attack. Looking forward to the midfield developing further from here now.
  25. Been dying to see him in positions to thread balls through to Isak, and finally we had that today from the outset. Will become a lethal weapon with more game time with him in that position. Love seeing him higher up the pitch. Not a bad free kick for our equaliser at the end too.
