The Bruno and Paqueta thing is from Hope (I know) on a podcast (again, I know) a while back. Can't remember which.

You can't just extrapolate this across every signing, and claim Howe is 'fascinated with only signing players from other Premier League clubs'.

I imagine targets from all over including the Premier League are drawn up, and the best player is then signed.

If Howe was as rigid on Premier League players as you claim, he would have insisted on them far more firmly.

Go and read back on what he said about Tonali when he signed, and how much he watched him and fell in love with his game.

Howe seems to value the right attitude on the pitch and a certain level of physical capability, regardless of where the player is coming in from.

Fuck sake. Utterly sick to death of that.

It's Howe's biggest flaw; this fascination with only signing players from other PL clubs. The most expensive market there is. Being keen on Calvert-Lewin ahead of Isak, being allegedly sceptical about Bruno, allegedly saying no to Paqueta, his comments on Solanke, links to McTominay, Billing, Kelly et al. Smoke and fire.

The top clubs, which we want to become one of, hardly ever shop in the PL market. The fees and wages are over inflated for the level of ability you get. You get quoted £50m for Onana, you'll get quoted between £40m-£60m for Solanke. We got Bruno for £39m.

Ah, I see ... so Howe's arm had to be twisted for every foreign player yeah?

Care to provide any evidence of this? Or are you just choosing to believe what you want?

And yet yesterday the reports said that the club didn’t want to sell.

Trying to get the price up. Makes sense to me. Pretty standard procedure.

The perfect time to move out a few of our players will be this summer. Interested so see what we do and how ruthless we will be.

Yeah, I've said previously that the way this season panned out is likely to see a more ruthless approach to moving players on, as the squad still needs significant work, so there'll be no room for niceties.

And sure, summer would be ideal, but if great offers come in this January and a player/players we like can be brought in at the right value, then not adverse to us striking while the iron is hot.

  5. Can't lie, I'm kind of looking forward to the next evolution of the team.

Think it is absolutely necessary to take the next step. A big part of becoming successful is going to be getting the timing right on moving on from certain players. Necessary evil.

Surely this is their year - they have a canny team - always recruit well

Is Boniface out for the season?

Think Boniface is out for a while, yeah, but coincided with Schik coming back, so kind of worked out alright.

Think they might pull it off. Bayern have a major battle on their hands.

Coachable though you’d hope. He has all the athletic and technical ability you’d want. Maybe just caught up in the malaise of the club

Yeah, for sure. I really think he needs to get out of there for his own good. Needs a more challenging place to push him on.

  8. Just now, Sempiternal said:

You think? Don’t see that with him myself, he’s a game changer imo. Put him around better players and he will look immense

It might well be the environment, that's true. But yeah, I think he doesn't assert himself nearly enough.

Potter was at the game tbf, would be good for them

Thought he was another they would have looked at in the summer, but then there was some talk of it not happening due to the Brighton and Palace rivalry.

They would hope to go after their own Iraola tbf. Just something to evolve it with intention. I like O’Neill but in that circumstance it’s reactive.

O'Neil would have been more realistic and from what he showed at Bournemouth, his approach suits the profile of players Palace have I think.

Ridiculous how they can't just seem to get the manager right over there.

Parish has no ambitious vision. He might sack Roy but he’ll not bring in anyone progressive.

Such a waste of their academy, and pretty good recruitment.

Should have been all over  someone like Gary O'Neil when Bournemouth got rid of him.

Would make sense if we went for Sesko while his numbers / stock is down, just like we did with Isak, if we're confident in his ability and means if fitting in our team

    Yeah, absolutely.

Same with Goncalo Ramos at PSG.

Only ever seen bits of him after we were linked the first time. When his agent was down the Quayside.

Would expect more goals from him in that league. Considering they’re not fond of defending.

It looks like Openda the striker they got from Lens has far exceeded expectations and has made the number 9 spot his.

And so it's probably why they are looking to get money for Sesko now as they won't be able to increase his value if he isn't a main feature in the first team.

    For the believers.

Has anyone seen him play since he made the move to Leipzig? How has he been looking?

Him and Ramos being available is pretty significant. Would love another quality striker on the books.

The issue is there are some people who have no middle ground with it, they need to have a 100% strike rate or they are labelled a fraud.

Pizza Rob clearly knows someone within the club and picks up bits from them, I think he went through a period where the attention went to his head so he speculated on some bits which didn’t do him any favours.

I know someone high up within adidas so I get told various bits of their football activities including the dealings with us and Villa, I did put some bits on here about us serving notice on castore to go to adidas but people behave in a weird way about it so I haven’t bothered sharing anything since.

I am looking forward to the 40% discount next season on our gear though.

Genuinely can't believe how wound up some people get about transfer rumours or otherwise when it's from someone that might have heard something. It's ridiculous.

    Yeh Longstaff. Easily.

Yup. Think Miley and Anderson playing the same position and showing promise this season makes Longstaff really expendable, especially as they are both also club home grown prospects.

  17. Miley has more than held his own in central midfield at 17 years old.

He already has good size and athleticism too, and is strong technically.

Really surprised people think his value is too high.
