Mourinho doesn't make sense for where the team currently is as far as the kinds of players he'd have at his disposal, and the players that they can afford to bring in to build up the squad. If they want a big name it would have to be someone younger with a big reputation when they played, that is still on their way up, but that has had some success already and that can grow further with the club going forward. The likes of Xavi and Alonso, and perhaps Fabregas.

They will not bring in Mourinho. It just wouldn't make any kind of sense. They are trying to finally move onto a model where they bring in more affordable emerging players to make up the squad, and so will likely be after someone that has shown they will play these sorts of players and can coach them up to develop further. This is everything that Mourinho is not. If the club was in a position to go after more established players and was trying to win now, then perhaps they would have considered him then.

David Ornstein has reported that the club will stand by Slot even in the event that his side does not qualify for the Champions League in 2026/27. Yup, I'm not convinced Isak was really injured towards the end of last season when he was out with a Champions League place on the line. He had already started his campaign to go to Liverpool. And now with the Liverpool season going to shite and like you said, that World Cup place waiting over the summer, which he will be picked for as long as he's fit, he will be prioritising that, and will likely pick up another "groin injury" again soon.

I'm almost 100% certain the team would function better with Miley in that position ahead of Tonali. We'd for sure keep the ball better, and string together more convincing passages of play with the football more often. He's also far more likely to get you a goal or an assist even from that position. All I consistently see Tonali do that really stands out is running back to take the ball off someone when a team is coming at us in transition. Even with winning the ball back he doesn't tend to do so as much outside of those transition moments. I cannot believe the fuss made over this guy. I keep watching and looking for more and I never see it. I really do wish he was actually as good as we keep being told he is, especially by the media. That would actually be really nice.

Would be a really good move for him. Would be playing in a team with a bunch of good players and could just play off of them. Think he'd do really well there and they'd like him a lot. Would be somewhat similar to the Luis Diaz situation at Liverpool, as a good few of them had decided he wasn't good enough and now they all wish he'd stayed instead, as Gakpo drives them mad. Hopefully Newcastle would find someone better than a Gakpo to play there if Gordon goes. Just think Gordon really could do with playing somewhere where he doesn't get so much stick and he can just enjoy his football more freely to reach his absolute best levels, and it's never going to happen at Newcastle.
