Could also argue that neither play as striker if you really wanted to be argumentative. Positions are far more interchangeable these days. Both have played as wide forwards and both have played as central strikers.

Ramos has never played as a wide forward.

Not that I've seen a lot of João Pedro but I rate him much higher than Sarr and Dennis just cause he's more elegant with the ball at his feet.

Imo, we're looking at him primary as a RW option. As already said though, we probably should've went in earlier to get a cheaper deal.. Still, think it could be a good addition.

He'd be the young versatile back up striker. He won't be coming in to start.

We're looking for more experience and production for the first team IMO.

I said something is wrong. I didn't say 'something is wrong at the club'.

    Come on Kaka, man.

Something is wrong how though? Listen man, I genuinely wasn't having a go at you.

I genuinely just thought it was funny because I didn't get why the Aouar signing was being used to disparage this link?

We already got us a pretty top rate midfielder ourselves from Lyon after all! And Pedro is just a backup striker. We'll still be in for first teamers this window.

I mean for as poor as his goal stats are he just can’t look as bad as wood so from that stand point the comparisons are ridiculous. I’d just like a prospect that can show he can score even in the championship.

I’ll obviously give him a chance but our budget will be more than halved so would need to be a hell of a loan signing on the wing/midfield

I'd be more concerned about his goal scoring  if Watford were a team that used the ball well and played our kind of style under Howe, but their football is poor. Even this season I've watched their first two games and they do nothing with the ball. Joao Pedro's attributes seem very well suited to Howe's football.

Wood is an awful fit in comparison, his link up play isn't good enough, his movement isn't great, and he just seems slow to react to what is happening around him in this style we are now playing. He seems too used to a very direct style like he had with Burnley with an aggressive focal point in Barnes next to him.

What's embarrassing is belonging to a forum community and then admonishing others for not sharing your views.

You compared this link to Forest signing Aouar and claimed something must be wrong at the club. That is ridiculous man

This is a young back up striker, so what does one have to do with the other exactly? I thought it was a silly, worst outlook possible reaction.

I don’t think I said he was Chris wood I said he couldn’t score like Chris wood. I was comparing their goal stats. So it was based on statistics and I did say in fairness the kid was young.

mate we get it you love FBref. (Only kidding  )

The thing about Chris Wood that really annoys me is actually his build up play, because it kills off so many potential moves.

Joao Pedro's link up play and ability on the ball seem very highly rated, it's important we have another striker that can bring those attributes first and foremost.

As far as goals go, he seems technically gifted and has far better speed and mobility at the very least than Chris Wood. I cannot imagine him not looking better in our team as a goal scorer with a better setup and players around him, and he'll have a ton of room to grow further. He's unlikely to look as far off the pace as Wood has for us.

Does this theory only apply to the people that don’t like him? how many times have the people raving about him watched him play? Probably much the same.

The difference is that the people that like the possible signing are basing it off his potential from the scouting reports on him, and the opinion of the Watford fans. They're hardly saying he is going to guarantee goals and be amazing. It's a fair assessment that gives him a chance to come in and show us what he can do.

However writing him off and calling him Chris Wood or whatever other nonsense that has been posted is based on what exactly? That is ridiculous, but sadly typical of a few on here. It's embarrassing really.

The Wood mark 2 comments are ridiculous, but people have seen enough of him to not rate him and not want to sign him.

    I doubt they have.

Every single scouting report on the guy gives glowing marks, and the fans that watch him every week at Watford are raving about him.

Everything you read about him based on all the modern scouting metrics are flagging him as high potential prospect.

It's exactly the kind of versatile striker the club have been after for that backup role. Looks a really good fit for what we're after.

We want signings, we want signings, we want signings, just not him, him, him or him or any if them mentioned, but we want signings now.

I can't even be irritated by it anymore, it's just so pathetic

The kid has already been deemed to be Chris Wood mark 2. I mean ... I can't believe it

By all the metrics @The Prophet has been posting, as well as the ones from that great Athletic article on him, he's right up there in potential with all the young strikers we've been looking at, but here we go ... can't score and is no good because he didn't do so for Watford, and is now no better than Chris Wood.

We were linked with him way back in June.

There was a fantastic break down of him in the Athletic around that time - https://theathletic.com/3334585/2022/05/30/watford-joao-pedro-transfer/

Seems a very highly rated prospect, with the added bonus that he played a fair bit in the Premier League last season, and so is aware of the demands of that.

Good move for our back up striker role and also has the versatility to play in the wide positions and attacking midfield. Exciting prospect.

I really don't think so like. He can easily play as an inverted RW and there are obviously countless examples of successful ones. Even then, our wingers often switch and Harrison is very good with both feet.

We see this all the time in football now, and most wingers can play both sides because of it.

Always surprises and confuses me when people think it will be this big change a winger playing on a different side as an inverted winger.

As you've said Harrison is especially adept because he is very two footed. And looking at his career numbers he has played loads on the right.

Reading the Spurs forum about Richarlison is quite funny. Exactly what I said he would be here if he came here. Already a fan favourite, because despite most hating him when he played for Everton he just gives it 110%. His effort and running is going to be improve Kane and Son a lot even if he doesn't even score 10 goals this year. His demeanor just increases the effort for the whole team. And off the pitch he's an absolute character.

If Conte ever goes to a back four with Richarlison, Kane, Son and Kulusevski starting together ... man, that would be terrifying.

I think I missed that interview when it actually happened.

I almost ruptured something from laughing so hard when I watched that earlier. The way he threw that in there at the end man

Well how do you think the search for attacking players has gone so far?

It's very difficult to say, because it depends on what is going on behind the scenes.

If we land Isak before the window closes because we finally managed to get Sociedad to agree to a fee that worked for us then I'd say amazing!

If we end up not getting anyone at all then incredibly disappointing.

It could be either extreme still really. We'll find out soon enough though.

I didn’t say things are awful, but we are struggling to make the signings the club wanted at the start of the window.

This place is getting well rawky when it comes to anything remotely negative.

I just don't understand why you can't just wait till the window closes man. There's never any guarantees of when signings are done by.

I mean I get that some people like having a bit of a whinge, but equally some others will find it tedious and a bit irritating, and so will comment on it as well.

It's just the nature of the beast really. Can't wait for the window to close whether we sign anyone or not that's for sure.
