I can't believe the way people keep going on about him man. I honestly can't

@KaKa  I mentioned him a page ago. Think he’d be a very astute signing.

Yeah, I have to say he looks incredibly impressive, at just 21 years old too. Would be very excited if we end up getting him for our midfield.

N'Golo N'Golo Kante N'Golo N'Golo Kante. Would have him here and let him rediscover his form again. Lost his way a bit at Chelsea perhaps?

Huge wages at 31 and would then need to replace him in what ... a season or two? Why?

We've been linked with Lillian Thuram's younger son at Nice, who is a DM with a very promising profile. Looking at his statistical breakdown on fbref, after he was linked, I couldn't believe how good it actually looked. It was a similar case when we got linked with Bruno in Jan, and I had a look at his statistical profile too.

Our scouting team is doing some really really good work. I think we are in excellent hands, and we are going to get some future stars that are not as obvious to everyone right now.

    Khéphren Thuram - https://fbref.com/en/players/7d9397f8/Khephren-Thuram-Ulie

Ironically in his statistical player comparison list you can find both Kante and Bruno listed. Along with the likes of Tonali, Zakaria and Kessie. All excellent players. Thuram is 21 years old. These are the moves we should be making. Not N'golo Kante man. Come on.

I dunno, I think him and Cornet would be decent. Certainly much better than Almiron, Murphy and Fraser... we can't always sign top 4 talent, but like Mane at Southampton was scoring around 10 per season before he went to Liverpool, Cornet and Sarr are doing relatively similar on a per game average. But both played in relegated sides - I think they could do better here.

Most fans never have any kind of foresight. They just want the obvious players that they see featured on Match of the Day every weekend.

Everybody wants to sign Raphinha for £60 million now, but when Leeds signed him there wasn't a peep. It went largely unnoticed, just go look at how basic his stats were in France the year before he came over.

But someone at Leeds actually went and did some proper scouting and recognised there was some Premier League potential in him due to how he played, and fair play to Leeds because they're now going to make a heck of a profit.

In the 2018-2019 season, Cornet and Sarr were both in France and at the time both played mostly out wide for their teams. They both put up better numbers than Raphinha ever did over there. Cornet and Sarr have both come into pretty poor teams in England and so haven't shown anywhere near their full potential, and would both be very smart pick ups that could erupt in that team we have right now.

But hey, never mind that, they play for Burnley and Watford, so not good enough. It's ridiculous really.

I swear people want these signings just so they can use them on FIFA or something.

We should be targeting the future iterations of these players not the ones on their last legs for goodness sake.

    I’d prefer Broja…

I like Broja, but I'm leaning more towards Goncalo Ramos, who we've also been linked with recently, and who had a really good season with Benfica. Think potential wise he's right up there with Ekitike, and is only 20 years old also.

He's available for £34 million, which is only a bit more than what we bid for Ekitike (£30 million). Dortmund and Bayern sniffing around too, but feeling is we are most likely to meet their asking price for him, similar to the situation with Reims regarding Ekitike.

Had a nice finish against Liverpool at Anfield, in the Champions League this past season. Typically played as secondary striker, just off Darwin Nunez when he featured.

I also think we need to show the football world that we are serious. At some point we’ll need to show that we aren’t an Everton or a Villa and can make transfers of a higher calibre.

You are absolutely gagging for some overpaid "big name" signing, and it's just not going to happen man. The likes of Pogba that you were suggesting are a complete no go. They're clearly targeting high calibre talents on their way up, which is the best approach, particularly for the manager we have, and I have no doubts we are going to be very competitive in the league really quickly.

Not a fan at all tbh. Scores goals, but think he's the shit when he's not. Depends a lot on service and doesn't work hard enough. Was more of a winger, but has become more of a poacher in the last few years. He clearly has some talents, but his attitude is piss poor and he's no Romario.

I'd rather go all in on Raphinha or Paquet, with a slight preference to the Raph as he has PL experience and just excites me more.

    Cool man, cheers

Be interesting to see if he gets a move back over to Europe and where he ends up.

Unfortunately, I think there's far too much interest in Raphinha now, and so his price has sky rocketed.

Who the frig is Dean Jones? Anywhere else other than Give Me Sport?

    I don't know man

Seemed a reasonable link as we were linked wit him loads in January. Looks like his people are offering him around, and we are a priority, if Dean Jones is legit :D

Now that we've closed the Botman deal, there's one thing and one thing only the club has to do. Go get Raphinha. If we get Raphinha I could even live with having Wood as 2nd striker until January and Shelvey, Willock, Bruno, Longstaff and Joe as central midfielders.

I see Gabigol is being linked quite strongly with us again. Looks like he wants to join.

What's the deal with him, do you rate him? Also, can he play as a wide forward on the right, or strictly as a striker? What position do you think would suit him best in the Premier League?

Looked good in an extremely manic Bielsa side.

Awful for England - offered zero protection or control during the Euros (and yeah I know we still shithoused our way to the final).

Not close to good enough technically or in his reading of the game to make an impact at City. 17 appearances, 7 as sub written all over him for next season.

Everybody looks bad for England. Having watched their last few games I couldn't believe how badly they made Belingham look.

Philips is best as the deep midifielder in a midfield three, which is exactly how Man City lineup, and so it will suit him perfectly. He is also accustomed to an aggressive high pressing game, due to his experience with Bielsa at Leeds. He'll be a good alternative to Rodri.

Think it's an ideal move for Philips and Man City.

I guess I'll just wipe my tears with my league title from the summer.

I also think many of you overestimate the level of "bitterness" among Milan fans. Most of them were quite skeptical of Botman and preferred giving the starting shirt to Kalulu.

You guys will be fine man. I've seen you're being linked with Arthur Theate from Bologna as a young left-footed centre back alternative. I like his potential a lot, think he's a really good option.

As you said also, you already have Fikayo and Kalulu too, and so you're in great shape. It's probably why you weren't really pushing that hard with Lille to agree a fee.

KaKa, my good man. What do you make of comments like these?

I've no doubt he preferred AC to us, but surely if loathed the idea of signing for us then he can reject the move and stay at Lille?

Sounds like sour grapes to me, if this fella is an Italian journo

My God that is pitiful

We only just agreed a fee with Lille, which was always the sticking point.

No idea who that guy is or what he's on, but he's so rattled it's ridiculous.

Funny how so many people think that once you're in the Champions League everyone will fall at your feet. It never really just comes down to that alone though. He's young enough to make that kind of move down the line if he doesn't achieve it with us first. In the meantime the Premier League is a massive pull and the chance to be a marquee signing for a team on the up is a big draw in itself. Also think the Prem has a big history with Dutch players past and present and so that will always play a part also.

Don’t know how the actual Milan employees felt about it all, but their media certainly

made dicks of themselves. Attitude all about being so better than us was shitty.

Seemed Milan were hoping Botman would refuse to go elsewhere and force Lille to bring down their valuation of him (which I don't think they were ever going to do) so Milan could get him. Never happened though.

I hope he genuinely wants to be here.

Um ... we've only just agreed a fee, and everything looks to be progressing quickly from there.

Pretty certain he was happy to join either club, and it was down to who found an agreement with Lille first.

New money upsetting the old school status quo applecart. Lovely.

It's not even like they had a bid accepted and we came in and gazumped them. They were just there making a bunch of noise.

It took us ages to agree a fee, because we weren't throwing money around ourselves, and were intent on paying a reasonable fee, which I think we did.

Really happy with our approach to the signing.

Feels like another Bruno level of signing this one. Maldini wanted him and he knows a bit about defending. Buzzing.

Yeah, absolutely. The fact Maldini was so high on him, is a heck of a good sign.

Newcastle United just casually beating AC fucking Milan to a signing.

    No big deal.

The whole thing has been weird at their end, because they never had the money. We never actually had to beat them to anything.

We're hardly paying a crazy price either, considering his age, experience and pedigree.

He needs to be targeting 10 goals and at least 10 assists next season (be it league or all competitions) if he does stay, he’s capable of the former, I’m not sure of the latter…

I think that's fair, and he should be capable of that tbh.

He managed 5 goals and 5 assists this year having missed a number of games, and also having played without Callum a lot too when he did play.

He needs to use the desire for a new contract as motivation to have a great season, and all the chips will fall into place from there. Just don't think it's justified for him at the minute.
