On the one hand it's kind of patronising from the club, but on the other when you see the clip of some of the takes (mostly elsewhere) about selling Minteh in the first place you realise it was probably needed.
Exactly

We had a sporting director, who one could argue, put us in this situation.
I just think there is so much more to it.
I think we all agree that this needs to be avoided at all costs.
Yeah, there were murmurs the club weren't happy with his work towards selling players and it was a concern.
The Muppet was too busy emailing back and forth with Ratcliffe and his gang to join Man Utd.

If that's literally all there was to it then they really needn't have put me through the ringer.
Everyone should have known full well why we signed Minteh in the first place.
Think there were some people that really needed to reckon with the reality of the alternative scenarios

Would be good news.
Need to move past all this noise now.
Brentford just forked out £35 million for Archie Gray. £30 million for Minteh is decent.
Need to sort this all out and start focusing on incomings.

1) We did need a RW and still do. I have absolutely no idea what that has to do with PSR compliance.
2) Was Barnes signed to sit on the bench? Or did Gordon make the position his own during his somewhat unfortunate injury layoff? I don't think we'll ever get an answer to that.
3) We needed to elevate the quality of the first team to compete in the Champions League and players like Isak and Tonali cost top dollar. Fans are absolutely gasping for us to chuck huge fees at players like Marmadashvili, Maddison, Szaboszlai and Paqueta, while alternatives are frequently sneered at. The club are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
4) A potent mix of hindsight and conjecture does a lot of heavy lifting here. If we breach PSR, it's a failing from those running the club, but blaming individual transfers and factors outside of our control when we've had August 2023 along with January 2024 and June 2024 to line up sales seems a bit daft.
Great post.
Point 3 is particularly infuriating to me.

What the hell is Schar doing there man.

The Italy team just seems really badly managed. Look completely lost out there.

The way they were just sat off watching him

Seems like Minteh has been talking to other clubs. If we didn’t plan on selling him why would we allow him to do it?
Minteh is the only player we seem willing to sell.
All the Gordon and Isak based stuff is what I was referring to. Seems fanciful and manufactured.

I know this place has a hard on for Chiesa, but he looks absolutely shot
The team is just pinned back watching Switzerland.
Not sure what he can be expected to do under these circumstances.

It’s unsettling our players. I don’t think it’s intentional if we take the hit.
How could we possibly know it's unsettling the players?
We won't have any clue what the club has communicated to the players regarding all this.

What a goal that is. Italy getting schooled.

It wasn't Xhaka you dimwit.

Hate the offside delay. Feel like he was reserved in his shot.
As a striker always have to assume you're onside, and finish like it.

Embolo so poor. Really telegraphed what he was going to do there too.

I get the idea, but we could have leaked it saying they enquired but the offer wasn’t enough. For us to leak we are actively trying to sell him leaves a bad taste.
Yeah, but it's far more convincing! Especially if his agent is in on it and the player is aware.
We have to be seen to be the ones taking action on this.

I see no benefit to leak a story of us trying to sell our player of the season tbh but I hope to be proven wrong.
I think we could claim that we made every effort to move players on, but can't just sell players way below their value, as it is damaging to the club.
Would just be useful when appealing any dumb point deduction, which I think we may increasingly be more likely to take and then challenge at this point.

You seem to be getting a lot of enjoyment out of this. It seems very odd. I know you enjoy throwing things back at people but why?

Lighten up guys. Just having a giggle.
I'm not convinced about any of this the more all this stuff keeps coming out, and directly from our end.
Think the club are up to something.

Fuck off with all of this man. Not today. Not ever.
I think there's a good chance we've decided to take the points deduction hit.
All this big show of trying to sell players seems very suspect.
Might be used to mitigate how much of a punishment they plan to dish out, or to buy more time.
But let's see. Something seems fishy around all this!

The difference between the first number of pages of this thread and what is being said now is amazing. Just too funny man

His contract was never disclosed was it ?
It was never mentioned, which is strange. But all the typical sites with this information say it runs till June 2026.

Just noticed Gordon signed a shorter contract.
Looks like it expires in June 2026, which is really strange.
Wonder if that has anything to do with all this. Going into the final two years from this summer.

Why does it mean he's ready to compete right now?
They signed João Pedro last season for around the same sort of fee, and despite being more experienced, even he wasn't starting consistently for them.
