Really good to hear this from people that watch him week in and week out. Always liked the look of him when I've seen him for Bournemouth and thought he stood out, and was really beginning to wonder if I was imagining things, when I saw some of the responses to the original links. Looking forward to us tying this one up.

Really get the impression Wilson is leaving. Seems we're after a striker with experience of the league to play a similar role to what he has recently, rotating for Isak when needed, and sometimes partnering with him.
-
Fair enough. Just think there was so much more on the lead up to that relegation, which Southgate doesn't really have, and so wasn't comparable. But reading back over it, I can kind of see what you meant
-
Yeah, never mind the fact Howe brought Bournemouth up to the Premier league from administration in league 2 against all the odds, and kept them in the Premier league for a number of years, all while playing football that was enjoyable to watch, before eventually going down that COVID year. Come on now. Are we really comparing all that to Southgate's stint at Boro?
-
He actually looks like he could do with some strength work off of the pitch, at least initially. It's a weird one though. As important as experience playing is, it can also go the other way, if a player is kept out there, when they could do with some seasoning outside of that weekly pressure of starting games.
-
That's Emery's guy from his time back at Arsenal. I imagine he'll be going to Villa. Wouldn't really make sense for us at the minute, probably just a contingency plan, for if Bruno leaves.
-
That is incredibly unfortunate if it is a Newcastle specific thing. You really have to wonder how that then correlates to a clubs success on the pitch over time.
-
Trafford looks like he needs to work on his strength and presence more than anything, and so think he can do with a year or two of focusing on that and playing in some cup games, or when Pope is injured. As he's so young still in goal keeping terms especially, I don't think that sets him back.
-
I think we're not just after a backup though. If they feel this guy can be a long term top tier keeper and take over from Pope eventually, then they likely think it's worth going for him now, and at the current price, because it will reap huge dividends.
-
I will continue to maintain that a huge percentage of football fans don't actually like the sport or pay attention when they watch it. It's just an outlet for them to take out their anger. Shouting at players on the pitch, or constantly complaining about everything that goes on at the club, in some form or fashion.
-
Can tell a big part of the issue with him is worrying too much about what people are saying, which sucks big time, because it makes him very tentative and fearful on the pitch, leading to some terrible looking play from him. He'll always find it very difficult going with that mindset.
-
Are you trolling? The guy from abroad was quoted at £35 million, which is why they've seemingly opted for Trafford for less than half of that. Seriously, what is happening on here man.
-
Yeah, possibly. Think it would be tough though.
-
If Wilson stays we'd bring in a younger versatile striker as the third option. If Wilson leaves, then signing Kelechi on a free to replace him and still signing the younger versatile striker as well, is what I'd expect.
-
The only type of younger striker likely to be interested in being a backup to Isak, would be one that is still inexperienced and needs some development e.g. Moukoko let's say. Having this kind of player as the only option behind Isak is playing with fire.
-
Yeah, that's fair. It's more that I think Wilson could have bailed us out at times with a key goal that got us a result, but we couldn't turn to him, because he wasn't available.
-
Adams is on a free, just like Kelechi is, but I don't think he's as good. Don't think he finishes as well. Broja still has a fair bit of uncertainty around him, due to the injuries he has suffered, and is still quite inexperienced. Would also have to pay Chelsea a fee for him.
-
It's not about goals with Wilson, it's an increasingly ridiculous injury record. Can we really go into next season with him as Isak's backup again? It ended up costing us Europe this season.
-
Just out of interest, genuinely. If Wilson does go, can I just have some idea of some examples of players people think we should be looking at as a rotation option with Isak?
-
I remember a similar back and forth on here when we went for Rondon, who hadn't been utilised to anywhere near his best elsewhere. The thinking on here seems to mostly be that every signing has to be a player coming off a great season, or some hot prospect. Let's see how we manage that within the current PSR and FFP climate.
-
Only the ones that make sense to me. Not my fault if you can't see it from your low horse. Judging by how well the signings we make keep panning out, seems I'm not far off.
-
This isn't how players are scouted. Not sure why Leicester haven't used him more, as his numbers by the mins are really good there. He's a talented player available on a free transfer that would accept a squad player role. I see Villa are interested too. They are making very smart additions for their squad this summer. He'll likely end up there. They seem to be on it.
-
Nah, you just don't get it. Thankfully it seems we have some really sharp minds in our recruitment team, that are looking at some really clever ways to improve our squad, despite the restrictions in place.
