It would have to be only if Wilson left IMO. And also if there is a young striker prospect we'd like to sign, but who might need a bit of protection, as he may not necessarily be ready to cover for Isak every game if he misses time.
-
I mentioned Iheanacho as a striker to get in January on the cheap when Wilson was always injured. If we're losing Wilson and want a Prem experienced striker option on the bench as an option to replace him, it would make sense. He also won't bitch and moan about it, and would play that role. He'd also be on a free and is still only 27. I don't know why folks act as though Kelechi is trash. We could then also still bring in a younger striker prospect like Moukoko (as an example), who wouldn't then be under as much pressure if Isak gets injured at any point.

Genuine question. Is this just the norm or is this a Newcastle thing? It's so awful man. Just relentless.
-
Will come in as the clear number two and will have a chance to work on his strength and dealing with crosses. He'll also be learning behind one of the best at it. At 6 ft 6 and just 21 years old, will still be growing into his body. Looks like he's highly rated and has big potential. Should be in position to take over from Pope as he ages out. Solid signing.
-
And I'm totally with you. Hopefully we can manage shifting the others before the 30th. However, I'm thinking this article is a sign it's not looking too promising.
-
Did you read the article? Why do you think they are considering selling him? Just for a laugh? Do you think they'd be considering this if there was interest in the players we'd happily let go?
-
Pick whichever you prefer. If no one is coming in for them then we'll have to figure something else out.
-
So you want to keep Minteh, keep all our top players and also go and get a quality first team right winger? Basically, you want to have your cake and eat it too. If it was down to the fans we would never be any good I swear.
-
Yeah, but we already know the club is looking at bringing in a top end right winger, so why keep on about this?
-
I think Southgate probably would have happened, but he'll be so poor in the Euros that they'll bottle it.
-
There's definitely a chance Slot is getting carried away. ten Hag brought what looked like a pretty exciting right winger with him from Ajax. We all know how that turned out.
-
Clearly it's maybe not proving quite as easy to shift those lot.
-
But the full £60 million doesn't count against us all in one year ... that's not how it works. Anyway, never mind. Not getting into this nonsense again

Liverpool's title push was based off the back of selling Coutinho for top dollar and manoeuvring from there. Sometimes tough calls need to be made. Much rather sell this kid than the likes of Isak and Bruno. Once we go into the next 3 year cycle from July, we can then start spending normally again. Just as an example it looks like Moukoko is done at Dortmund. Same age, more highly rated, but due to tough circumstances last season will be available for half of what we sell Minteh for. If we then go and bring him in as a replacement, I'm not complaining.
-
I think it's really fortunate we have the option. £40 million is incredible really. It will mean we can keep all our best players. We definitely should sell him to someone other than Liverpool if we can manage it. However, if they are willing to pay loads more than others I would do the deal.
-
He played for slot last season, so that will be a big part of it too.
-
Minteh is a legit wonder kid so not surprised there are offers of £40 million. We paid what £5 million for him, and so the majority of the fee will be profit. Not ideal selling, but if it means we keep all our top players I'm fine with it. There's some great value on the market this summer. We can do very well after June 30th, once the 3 year period for losses gets reset
-
Yeah ... Southgate should be hammering that into him all the time. Having said that though, no idea why Foden doesn't get it. Should realise he needs to be getting far more involved and looking to make more happen. Actually thought Palmer has done more of that the past two games, even though he hasn't quite had things go for him yet.
-
Couldn't even enjoy the new Southgate to Man Utd rumours for a day, without him bottling it.
-
Guilty of playing like he's on the Man City team. Too slow too much sideways passing. Grealish often guilty of the same. But there's no De Bruyne to then open things up with a killer ball. Needs to play a different way for England, with far more urgency and greater responsibility.
-
Foden should have been off. Gordon and Palmer have been far more present and dangerous.
-
No one making overlapping runs in the final third. This is pitiful.
-
Foden needs to do better than this. Very ordinary. Needs to be far more influential if he's going to play off the striker.
