  1. I like Wilson but he has an injury in him (done his acl in both knees) which is terrifying considering our constant issue with those on the whole.

The more I think about it for a pure goal getter we really should go for Michy Batshuayi. He gets in behind and is so dangerous in the box. His all around game can be inconsistent, but the way we started using Joelinton as a link man coming in from out wide in the 4-2-3-1 I think that mitigates that. Worked well for Gayle who is very much a poacher and not much else as he got goals and was effective once we switched the formation.

I think most clubs are looking for more modern all around forwards and that could work to our advantage with Michy. The article below regarding why he hasn't had as much interest in him is really interesting. Think he would really suit us though. We are desperate for an out and out goal scorer. Similar to what Papiss Cisse was for us previously.

  2. So, heard from a source today that there’s zero budget for Bruce other than from player sales, two players are already linked with other clubs (Hayden being one). Targeting a striker on loan but no idea who it might be (all enquiries unsuccessful so far).

This comes from a first teamer.

    This sounds far fetched.

Yeah, not typical Newcastle at all is it.

I guess we'll all find out soon enough.

  4. Holding has the potential to easily become Newcastle’s best defender, but what’s the point on loaning him?

    Arsenal don't want to sell.

Don't think that's the case as they have William Saliba returning from his loan at Saint-Etienne and Gabriel Magalhães set to join from Lille.

In addition they have Luiz, Sokratis, Mari, Chambers and Mustafi still.

We're likely just being cheap, and don't want to get locked in to any agreement until next summer. Schar and Clark are going into their last years and so  paying a fee for a centre back likely makes more sense then.

  5. Marega is the type of striker that would work for the way Bruce plays to be fair.

He's got power and pace and although I wouldn't necessarily describe him as clinical, his style will make defences very uncomfortable and it will lead to chances out of nothing and goal scoring opportunities for the team on the whole. He should also get an okay number of goals himself as his record is solid in that regard.

The overall effect is similar to what you might expect from adding the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King who we have also been linked with, but Bournemouth are ridiculously asking for £30 million for each and so those are not happening.

  6. The ironic thing about Ashley's penny-pinching approach to recruitment is that it actually costs the club significantly more over the long-term by refusing to meet the valuations of quality players like Aubmeyang, Lacazette, Tagliafico etc. Then we end up paying over the odds for players like Muto, Joelinton etc.

    Yes, certainly.

Just as annoying is the lack of effort in identifying the talent that can be had for reasonable fees. It's not an impossible approach, but it's clear we don't really do it properly.

We should have done everything we could to have got Brentford's Director of Recruitment Phil Giles on board, he's a massive Newcastle fan and his work at Brentford has been incredible thus far

Unless he hangs out in London pubs and restaurants throwing up in fireplaces I doubt Ashley even has a clue of his existence. It's just horrendous man.

  8. Yeah, watching that was just sad.

Just a guy with a youtube channel, albeit a really good one, and you know he has thought things through and has more creative and financially viable solutions than our entire recruitment team has, and he likely doesn't even support Newcastle.

    It's embarrassing man.
