Ah, of course, because all 'star players' (whatever that means) lack work ethic and camaraderie. Amazing insight

I think Chris Wood be a solid signing. He's a polished striker, and would be part of the furniture in a Bruce setup.
He's the kind of player we should have signed ages ago. If we're going to be a functional but quite shit team, we may as well get the right tools for the job.
Newcastle haven't been functional since the day Rafa left, and won't be until the day a new owner makes a solid appointment.
Newcastle under Mike Ashley have consistently hired managers that do not work with the approach to recruitment. This has always been the issue.
Mike Ashley wants one of the boys he can have a pint with as manager. It's ridiculous and annoying, yes, but it could feasibly 'work' if you let them get the type of players that work with their approach. Work in the sense of an Allardyce's Bolton or a Dyche's Burnley who were both European teams, and so it won't be the prettiest necessarily. Under Bruce it shouldn't be quite that ugly hopefully.
Don't know why it's been so difficult to just get the basics of allowing the manager to bring in the types of players he wants all of these years. Absolutely crazy stuff.
But if you buy the type of players the PFM managers want to work with, there's no resale value in big hard cloggers. I mean they might keep you up, but no club who wants to go anywhere will want to buy them, so Big Mike wouldn't be happy about that.
Well, he has to pick his poison. It's been the problem all along.
Either go with the preferred recruitment policy and get in a manager that can make it work, or pick one of your pub buddies and give up the idea of young foreign talent and bigger resale values.
Guy wants to have his cake and eat it, and it is just a waste of time.
He's desperate to get out - more so than ever it seems. He's more than likely sacked off that transfer policy and is instead just opting for the absolute bare minimum investment (more so than normal) to keep our head above water until he finds a buyer.
Yeah, hopefully that's the case. Him getting out.

Only really worked once with the Sissoko, Cabaye etc.
Yes, indeed. The ones that did kind of work out were with players that were a bit more akin to the typical premier league player.
And yet they didn't even have the sense to look for more like that who were a bit tougher, physical, or high energy etc.
It's been an absolute farce really. Completely blew it with the likes of Ben Arfa, Thauvin, Cabella, Marveaux and Saivet. Just flushing money down the toilet bringing in players like this under the likes of Pardew.
And that's not to say they would have all been a roaring success, but the right type of manager would have got far more use out of most of those guys. I mean for a start, maybe get a manager from the league you keep buying all of them from?!
So frustrating man.

Yeah, I agree with that actually.

Not many better out and out centre-forwards than Lukaku like.
I'm a big fan man.
He just isn't one to play in teams that want to play a more cute style.
Love him in more direct attacking teams.

Happy for Ivan Toney man, wow.
Has really done well to continue to work and improve.
Heck of a spot by Graham Carr at the time. However, we never ever bring youth through so it was a terrible place for him.
Glad it's still worked out for him.

He hardly ever really plays Rodri and Gundogan together. He usually plays one of them sitting (Or Fernandinho) with DeBruyne and David Silva in central midfield alongside. Only did it yesterday because he was seemingly nervous.
Unbelievable that he started the game with Both Silvas, Foden and Mahrez on the bench. Pep pretty much bottled it.
Went too defensive with Fernandinho, Rodri and Gundogan starting.
He's played them together 24 teams this season prior. What are you talking about? He starts them in a lot of the big games together - Real Madrid, this game, Liverpool. The one he didn't against Arsenal - they lost.
There's a good article in the Athletic about it a few days ago.
It all stems from poor recruitment. No proper replacements for Fernandinho, Kompany & Silva.
Interesting, appears I had that wrong then. Ultimately their midfield 3 look their best with one of Fernandinho, Rodri or Gundogan holding and DeBruyne and David Silva with more attacking responsibilities.
I had presumed Bernardo Silva was going to pick up David Silva's role through the middle as he got phased out, but Gundogan seems to be getting more of a nod there and he's nowhere near as dangerous going forward.

Also appear to have swung from one end to the other on human rights

Interesting article from 2018. The bit at the end about sports would line up. Don't think these lot should be written off so quickly.
-
Shearer would be a terrible choice and the only argument to hire him is nostalgia. Good thing these people look like they're all over the place and won't buy the club.
It would be an executive role not a managerial one. Think there's been a mixup with that bit. Later on in the article it even says.
The Asian finance company and private equity firm based in France claim that the Premier League’s highest goalscorer of all time has accepted to work with them if they take over the St. James’ Park outfit, but it’s not specifically known if that will be as a manager. The bad news of course is that it will likely mean Bruce gets a chance to continue on. At this stage though, Mike Ashley leaving is the priority, and at least then we will have someone that can be more objective if Bruce gets a chance to spend and makes a mess of things.

Love this so much man.

Novena Global Lifecare Group is another they own that has a lot of info out there.

Man U seemed to lack nous in the final third.
Rashford I still find a very frustrating player. Often seems to hang on to the ball too long, or try to beat players when it's not on. I know he's young, but he seems to be on a very slow learning curve. Greenwood will overtake him, if he hasn't done so already.
Very very true regarding Rashford and Greenwood. I was actually thinking the same towards the end of the season when Man U were on a very decent run of form.
Greenwood's game is far more mature and cerebral. Typically releases it when he should and has much better movement. Rashford seems to get caught up in trying to do something spectacular a lot of the time.

Great game. Man U wasted so many chances man, although a lot of it was down to some sensational last ditch defending from Sevilla.
Well done Sevilla.
-
Of course it's De Jong
-
Hope this is a spawny win by Sevilla now.
It's looking like it will be
The chances being wasted by Man United here man. Yikes!
-
Incredible defending by Sevilla

What is that boy doing exactly?
So pathetic.

Great goal. Got another fantastic game brewing here.

Fred has improved so much. Unlucky on the finish.
