  1. I remember when Kaka told us Mikel has had a rubbish career

He's had a solid career, just a disappointing one for me personally.

Really thought he should have gone to Man U at the time and played for Fergie. Keane and Scholes were big fans after he trained with them as a school boy and told Fergie they had to sign him. Think he would have come along as more of a forward thinking midfielder there, in the mould of a Pogba, which is more of the player he was as a youngster.

Didn't really think there was a place at Chelsea for him to play that role, and he ended up becoming a pretty ordinary holding midfielder stuck under the tutelage of a pretty cynical manager in Mourinho. The article below pretty much details the whole thing.

"a disappointing one for me personally" haha

I'm actually understating it. I hated his time at Chelsea so much man. Still annoys me really.

He was a massively talented young player that we had very high hopes for. It's a big shame he never really got a chance to even develop his more natural game.

Just remember him stuck at holding midfield playing sideways and backwards passes under Mourinho. Urgh.

A tall bloke who is pretty slow was never going to work as number 10 at the top level in Europe tbf

He would have developed into more of a number 6 , didn't have to be a number 10 at all.

That's why I mentioned Pogba in an earlier post, or an Alonso, a Shelvey. More those types of players.

Not an ultra deep, safe sidewards and backwards passer. It was clearly down to Mourinho's approach IMO.

  4. Wooooooo ... that third kit is funky. The gold lettering and crest make it even more so. I'm liking it. Be interesting to see what the shorts and socks are like for both.

Lime one has same coloured shorts and socks. Purple one goes with black shirts and socks.

    Ah, okay. Cool.

  5. I think it's possible to say that you like the 3rd kit, without saying you'd WEAR the third kit, like ?

I think it'll look good on the pitch... wouldn't be caught dead wearing it.

I don't understand why people don't get this

Think it will look great on the pitch. And off the pitch while actually playing football.

There'll be a few out there that could put it together off the pitch casually too, but it's not one for the majority to be wearing out and about.

  6. But he managed 10 up until then in an ordinary team, which is some feat

From what I recall Fulham really fell off later in the season after starting off okay.

Give that man some respect and credit man. My goodness.

  7. Yeah, I understand, but it was still 11 goals man at what 23? In a team that mostly struggled.

Personally, I was surprised no one in the prem went for him after that season. He'd get more goals than Deeney at Watford, Calvert-Lewin at Everton or Callum Wislon at Bournemouth if you slotted him into any of those teams in my opinion.

    The guy is really talented.

Couldn't disagree more. He wasn't winning headers, his positional play was shocking, his finishing was average and he was fairly slow during his time here.

I said he'd get more goals. His overall play is another thing entirely, and even then I feel that is underrated at this point.

All those strikers I mentioned play in much better teams than the Fulham team he scored 11 for a couple of seasons ago. They have all managed 11 goals or more only once in the last number of seasons.

I'd get more goals playing for Crystal Palace if I was their designated penalty taker. What's your point? Mitro is no better than a lot of average strikers in the prem (Glenn Murray, Danny Ings, Neal Maupay) and has been one of the best strikers in the championship over the last two seasons. I really don't get why we you go on about him like we've let a 20 year old Gabriel Batistuta slip through our grasp.

I said he's a productive prem player. No idea why Batistuta is being mentioned.

You're going on like he's a useless lump. He isn't.
