Seeing the effect Rafa had on Townsend in those short few months, makes me feel a lot more confident in bringing in someone who may be a bit raw, and helping them figure it out.
We just need to sign some players man, so the manager can get to work with them nice and early.
I don't think Townsend was raw, he'd done for us what he'd done when he played for England. Rafa just helped bring on his consistency.
Adama Traore on the other hand has no footballing ability to be able to nurture as far as end product is concerned, he's as much of a headless chicken as Obertan was.
Yeah, there is some truth to that for sure. Townsend had performed well at times previously I agree.
We'll see. If Rafa does bring Traore in though, I just can't see him performing at the same standard as he has previously. What level he would ultimately reach though is difficult to say.
I know Rafa liked Sissoko, and saw him as a valuable piece, and maybe he is looking at Traore being used in a similar way. Both have great physicality, pace and workrate, though Traore is a more gifted dribbler.

Murphy looks exactly like the player we should be signing from lower leagues and developing into a really good squad player.
He does look good . Looks very effective coming in from the left, and boy do wee need someone to play on that side.

Just been watching some Adama Traore videos. He is comically explosive. It's an absolute joke man.
However the lack of discipline is so shocking. Lost track of the number of times he was dribbling out past 3, 4 or 5 defenders from his own box. Just a complete waste of energy, not to mention a huge risk.
God knows how Boro were setup, but perhaps that had a lot to do with it, as there was no one to get the ball forward to with everyone sitting back.
If someone can get some kind of instruction to this guy and help him figure it out he will be a terror. Even just having him stay high up the pitch and encouraging him to run at people in the final third and not do so from so deep would make a massive difference and save him a ton of energy, which would likely lead to improvements in his final ball etc.
I'd be comfortable with the signing. I like the fact his initial development was in Spain. Would hopefully make it easier for Rafa to communicate what he wants to him. Guy has some scary tools.

Pogba is quite irritating, yes. Just tries too hard man. Guy really needs to chill out some.
Literally the next post
Geeeeez!
If they add those two I will have a cheeky punt on them winning the league, as the odds would be pretty sweet.
I didn't say they would win (Everton that is). Just that it might be worth a punt if the odds are crazy. Say 70 to 1 or something.
You're so silly man

Worth a punt no?
The odds will be good man. You never know.

A CM should be the very top of our list. Very worrying that Rafa doesn't think so.
We've apparently made a bid for one from one of the top sides in Spain. Someone suggested Mateo Kovacic at Real Madrid, who is apparently available for around £17.5 million. Rafa took him to Madrid from Inter. Would be a great signing.
-
I feel sick
These two are pretty close huh? That might end up being a big factor for them both if they click. Chelsea are ridiculous missing out on him when they were his preference. Ridiculous stuff.
-
Adama Traore has so much talent it's unreal how badly he uses it. Rafa is a big details guy though. He'll have specific instructions for the guy and that may really help him. Would be amazing if he managed to help the kid realise his potential.
I remember Rafa using Cisse out wide when he first joined Liverpool, in order to use his space to really stretch teams, it was all a bit chaotic, but proved to be quite useful at times. Maybe a similar sort of approach with Traore.
We just need to get some players in at this point though. This is ridiculous.
-
He plays off the front man as well apparently, which we need help with badly.
Think there were family issues back home when he returned rather than just home sickness, but in any case he seems more settled now.

Lejeune only joined them last season.Jota was at Eibar season before last interestingly enough.
Have a word Lejeune, you big oaf.
Yeah, you are right. Jota was there up until January of last season though.
It also appears Jota is entering the last year of his contract. Something we are always drawn to.

Fantastic read. Sounds promising.

He definitely doesn't seem like a Man U striker. I know what you mean.
Don't think this will go well especially with Mou at the helm. Got a bad feeling about it.
-
Urgh ... hate to see Lukaku put his career in Mourinho's hands again. Can't believe Mou has actually gone for him the cheeky git.
-
Clichy is really not that great. So mistake prone. Don't like him at all.
-
Lukaku is going to be unstoppable for them.
Really? Man Utd didn't exactly thrill going forward last season. Mourinho ball does not create that much going forward, and Lukaku isn't the most ruthlessly efficient type, which is what Man U need IMO.
Lukaku would be far more exciting at Chelsea sharing the load in that front three, which would be incredibly dynamic.
-
Lukaku getting stuck with Mourinho again. Sucks for him.
Why is Chelsea not matching that offer? It's not as crazy as expected all things considered.
-
Rennes have contacted Chelsea about a move for Loic Remy, according to L'Equipe.
Totally forgot he existed.
The guy just wasted away on their bench the last few years. Terrible stuff considering his talent.
-
That PFM is looking for British and so will pay through the nose.
He benched Slimani as soon as he came in last season. Hence why he's looking to sign Deeney.
-
Well its been rejected, apparently
£20m+ could get you a much, much better than Troy Deeney.
Not anymore it doesn't. Have you seen the prices being quoted nowadays?!
-
Leicester apparently spending £20m on Troy Deeney
Think Slimani has been written off by the new manager, who wants some authentic British beef upfront instead.

As far as wingers go Jefferson Montero was also mentioned over the weekend. 27 years old and is going into the final year of his contract. Apparently available for £4 million.
He had an amazing run of games at one point, and then tailed off badly, but some of his performances earlier on were so good on that left side. If more consistency could be coaxed out of him that may be a fantastic value signing.
