Pardew definitely wasn't stitched up. He knew the deal and couldn't be arsed to get familiar with the players Carr was going after beforehand. He is a moron.
-
The thing is though why couldn't Pardew be in discussion with Carr regarding these players?!
He should have at least been shown all the scouting intel on them while Carr was in the process of getting them in, so he was prepared to at least have a clue on how to utilize them.
Absolutely ridiculous situation.

Alan Pardew became peripheral in transfers. In the January transfer window of 2013, five French players arrived at St James’ Park and Pardew didn't even recognise one of them.
Pardew man. Still makes me so angry. Clueless dipstick.
Considering how much influence Carr had, why didn't he insist on Pardew getting binned sooner as he had no clue about any of the players being provided?!
Good riddance to them both. So happy they are now both history.

Aboubakar was quite wasteful today for Cameroon, but boy is he a threat. Got in some great positions and is a handful.
-
That is ridiculous value for Gonalons.
Rafa wanted him at Napoli too.
-
Swansea is a good option for him. The manager will know him from his time at Chelsea too.
I'm more comfortable bringing in someone with more experience who will not just be on loan too, as it seems the guy wants to play a lot.

I imagine Acquah would come in as a squad player
Really? Why do you say that? Think he'll be slotting into our midfield. Looks a tough, physical DM.
He definitely looks like a good player and I must admit I haven't seen many Torino games the last seasons, but the few I've seen he looked like he likes to wander a bit too much. He tends to power forward when there's a given oportunity and likes to hold on to the ball a little too long in some situasions. Not the ideal partner to Shelvey in my book, but do correct me if my impressions are wrong
Ah, okay. Looks like he has been used as both a DM at times or a box to box midfielder at times also.

Besiktas upset that they can't compete finacially with English clubs, looks like he won't be going there whoever he ends up with.
Don't like judging players based on those highlight reel clips but the lad does seem to have a nice touch. I like strikers who aren't afraid to run at defenders.
Some outrageous skill in his one vs one dribbling clips on youtube.

This makes me think we will be interested.Going into the last year of his contract so looks like he will be available for a very reasonable fee.
Yeah, as soon as I saw that I felt the story was for real.
Plus we were interested in him when he first left France to join Porto.

Explosive and exciting striker.
Were always linked with him way back in his Lorient days.
-
Scored 34 in 31 games for Sporting last season. Damn!

What channel is this on?

Man ... I would take a punt on him for that price. That's a really good deal.

From the article you posted
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has targeted Ryan Shawcross of Stoke City as the man to build his defence around next season but Smalling would be a younger and quicker, albeit more expensive, alternative. -
Egg fried lies.
What the heck man
-
Geez ... and then clubs get criticised for not bringing in enough players from these isles.
Apparently Boudebouz, who we have also been linked with and that plays the same position, is available for £13 million after tearing it up in Ligue 1, and we can't get a Campionship player in the same position for £20 million.
-
No longer convinced this guy is a priority for Benitez.
There have been rumblings about Gray, Batshuayi, Bakambu and Ings. If any of these come in and we still have Gayle, then Abraham will not get the kind of playing time he would want or need.
He is with England over the summer at the under 21 Euros anyway, and so sealing this move now could be quite risky, as he could end up injured. Think this one is more of a contingency later down the line if moves for strikers we want don't pan out.

Very concerning.
Carr leaving worried me tbh. Think he was stuck in the middle and had enough. Ashley clearly wants to keep taking a punt on cheaper low wage French players, and Rafa does not.
Caballero, Delph and Mangala would command larger wages and have no resale value. Meanwhile the likes of Lejeune, Gonalons, Aboubakar are typical Carr signings that are right up Ashley's street.
Have a very bad feeling about this.
