  1. I like his mindset regarding his playing time. Might be what has given us a chance to sign him ahead of the likes of Arsenal.

"The first and most important thing for a player is to get playing time," Onyekuru told ESPN.

"I'm still young and I still have a long career to pursue but now I need to play.

"It's not just about going to a big club and sitting on the bench. It's not good for me, or being loaned to a club where I won't play or where I will struggle to play.

"The money can come later but for now, I just want to play to improve, not just to play for a big club."

  2. Wonder how much Spurs will get for Walker. Shouldn't be too hard to replace either.

Yeah, was just thinking it's great for them. They should get a pile of money, and for someone that isn't really that vital to them. Trippier did great stepping in for him. Walker can be quite error prone defensively too.

  3.

Moreso that it's just been one season, and for that amount of money you'd want to have seen a bit more surely?! I mean he wasn't even a fixture in the first team every week.

It is clear he is talented though, yes. I am a big fan. But charging folks upwards of £87 million because of what he did last year is a bit crazy to me.

  4.

I mean it's definitely crazy, but this is the world nowadays man. The guy guarantees you 20 goals in the prem, and he's done it for a team that wasn't that great creative really.

I mean how are Monaco turning down £87 million for an 18 year old kid that is still for the most part quite unproven.

    Scary stuff.

  5. Monaco rejected an £87 million offer from Arsenal for Mbappe. I mean ... really?! That's crazy to me. That's a great offer IMO.

Everton apparently want £90 million for Lukaku. Wenger should probably look at that deal instead. Although they aren't in the Champion's League, which Lukaku wants.

  6. Mata was already there when Mourinho came over though.

This is very different. Kind of weird Mourinho is now happy to bring him in.

if I were Lukaku I'd not be comfortable with it. I'm sure there are other top teams that would be interested. Apparently Chelsea are interested in bringing him back also.

  7. http://www.ojogo.pt/futebol/1a-liga/sporting/noticias/interior/newcastle-tem-semedo-na-mao-8529883.html

SAD led by Bruno de Carvalho waits for the leaders of magpies to send the final document, with details such as payment deadlines, something that should happen in the coming days

Sporting agreed to transfer Reuben Semedo to Newcastle, know O JOGO, in exchange for 14 million euros for 80% of the economic rights of the central defender who graduated in Alvalade. As our paper has advanced in its online version during the afternoon of yesterday, emissaries of the English emblem, duly mandated for the purpose, met in Alvalade with the leonine leaders last Wednesday - a meeting attended by the president of the Sporting, Bruno de Carvalho - and the parties reached a verbal agreement for the definitive transfer of the 23-year-old athlete for the amount mentioned, but safeguarding a compensation of 30 million euros if Rúben Semedo returned to Portugal in the next five years , In addition to the right of first refusal in a future sale.

    ah reet

Some peculiar terms there regarding future sales back to a Portuguese club - although there is ample room for "lost in translation" with that article...

Yeah, can't figure out that whole deal about that massive compensation if he ends up back in Portugal in 5 years

I'm guessing it's to prevent him ending up at a rival maybe?

  8. Man Utd are going after Lukaku?!

Do they not realise their manager drove him for the club after criticising him and insinuating that he wasn't good enough

Be interesting to see how Lukaku feels about it.

  9. Based on what I have read about him, I'm not 100% convinced he will turn out to be the signing we need. It seems he has a lot of potential but is very error prone, obviously I have faith in Rafa that he can and will turn out great. However the position we are in I would have been much happier with someone already proven in the league, something we haven't had at CB in years.

I don't understand this kind of thinking.

If the manager scouted him and they feel he will perform in this league and this team then what is the problem?

I remember us being linked with Van Dijk numerous times before he ultimately went to Southampton, and I recall not so flattering comments about him, especially as he was coming over from the Scottish league.

We have a manager that is clearly more involved in who is being signed now, and one that actually has a clue, so we need to chill with this panicking over any signing from other leagues.

  10. Nevertheless a decision has to be made on the basis of Abraham’s development and while the promise is that he will be the lead striker at both clubs it is felt that there will be more opportunity at Brighton.

Hmmm ... surely cannot have been guaranteed that with us.

I could see Brighton offering him the chance to be their number 1 striker though, which would make things very difficult for us.

The article also says he lives in Surrey, and so Brighton won't be too far from him.
