Yeah, for sure. I think if someone we like is available for a fair fee I'm sure we will. Hopefully that is the case. If we are looking for top quality for the first team though, it might prove difficult.

January tends to be for clubs that are in a position to pay over the odds in order to get a player they really like at a time clubs aren't as open to selling. Unless for some reason a player has been made available for some reason e.g. Gordon's palava at Everton. Or a player is looking to go out on loan as things aren't working out great at their current club. We aren't really in position to pay over the odds, and so we'd have to be really lucky with someone we like being made available for a good fee, or on loan. I'm not that optimistic. Think more business will start being done from the summer.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I recognise the team/squad is unbalanced and things aren't perfect. Just think it's a big shame that it wasn't recognised from earlier on that we needed legs in the deeper midfield position, and also that we needed a more stable first team. Even with all our issues, these things would have made a big difference I believe. And because of how open the league is, we'd have been in a great place even if it still didn't look perfect all the time. As bad as things have been we're still just 5 points off still. Unfortunately, even now I'm concerned about what lineup we'll see next game. Doesn't seem problems are being recognised.

Yeah, seems an over reactionary rash decision. Ruud was looking like he would have been able to stabilise things until the summer.

I can't really go for this at all I'm afraid. Two things. Committing to a better suited midfielder (the best of which is Tonali at the minute) at the base of our midfield in front of the back four. Making a firm decision on who would start on the left and who would start on the right. If these decisions had been made with more confidence, and we played said team regularly as our agreed first team, I'm pretty certain we would have been a lot more convincing and consistent this season. And if so, we would have been right in the mix for European football at the minimum, with how the league has played out. Instead, we still don't even know what our first 11 is, and there's still a bunch of chopping and changing going on.

Amorim looks to be a very talented manager. I just think his approach is not well suited to a number of key players they have. And so they are going to have to revamp the team significantly.

This is from way back in May, before Mitchell even came on board. https://trigger-the-press.com/newcastle-adi-hutter-monaco-44072/

Very interesting read. Wonder if Ashworth was the one pushing the Premier League experience thing with us. Seemed to be a focus with them too, when looking at managers. We can also see why we didn't have any data driven capabilities in house. Ashworth looked to outsource it. Lastly, seems he would have stayed if he knew Staveley was leaving. Felt the relationship Howe had already established there meant he was out of the loop at times. Happy Man Utd came in for him and we had to make a change. Doesn't seem up to it on recruitment where we really need to be exceptional going forward. Some snippets ... The signs of disharmony were detectable at the very moment that Ashworth would have been expected to prove his worth. In searching for a replacement for Erik ten Hag as manager, Ratcliffe wanted to hear ideas from the man he had sanctioned spending around £2.5million ($3.2million) to bring in from Newcastle United due to his expertise at building structures. Ashworth, it is claimed, did not provide clear, compelling arguments for who to bring in. Instead, there was a list and those he did propose had a theme: Premier League experience. Suggestions included Eddie Howe, despite the picture not always being rosy at Newcastle United; Marco Silva, the Fulham head coach; and Thomas Frank, the Brentford head coach. Graham Potter was another name mentioned by Ashworth, possibly as an interim until the end of the season. -------------------------------------------- Friction was also apparent when Ashworth proposed bringing in a data company to evaluate the candidates to replace Ten Hag. Ratcliffe was said to have reacted badly, countering that it was Ashworth’s job to know such matters rather than outsource, while also making him question United’s in-house capabilities. In his interview with fanzine United We Stand, Ratcliffe said: “Data analysis comes alongside recruitment. It doesn’t really exist here. We’re still in the last century on data analysis here.” -------------------------------------------- Ashworth has expressed to people a feeling of working in a highly pressurised environment and suggested he may not have left Newcastle had he known Amanda Staveley would subsequently depart. Howe’s strong relationship with Staveley, at the time a Newcastle minority shareholder and director, had been built before Ashworth’s arrival at the club and the Newcastle manager had always had a direct dialogue with her, so did not go via Ashworth.

Levy is a disgrace. Been holding them back on the pitch for forever.
-
Thought Sancho was really good today. Poor Man Utd Must be a sickener watching him in this sort of form for Chelsea.
-
The face on Daniel Levy man This guy has been incapable of hiring the right manager for how many years now?! If Ange is incompetent, what on Earth is he then? Guy is a joke.
-
I mean it was somewhat inevitable, but still pretty outrageous nonetheless
-
Yeah, think people have forgotten how much Pochettino was struggling to put it all together. He's come in right off the bat and got everything ticking.
-
Spotting Spurs a two nil lead at home, only to come back and put four past them and win is so outrageous man.
-
Maresca pushed him further forward. Maybe one day we'll do the same with Bruno.
-
Cole Palmer is so rude for that But love it after those gimps kept chucking stuff at him on those corners.
-
Think he's really good tactically. Really like how he sets up the team to accommodate all of Enzo, Palmer, Lavia and Caicedo to get the best out of them. Sancho looks great too, as does Cucurella. He's doing a lot right.
-
So so bad. Ange is a mess. The boos at the end might bring down their brand new stadium.
-
Forgot about that
-
Not if he were at Man Utd
-
That face says Ange is gone in the morning
-
Enzo having a break out season. Thought he just wasn't able to perform in the Prem based off previous seasons. Maresca figured out how to get more out of him. Turning out to be an incredible hiring.
-
It's all coming up Spursy.
-
How does Son miss that

Bissouma is so daft man.
