    Nick Woltemade

Nagelsman: “Sure, he’s scored two headers now, which was also good and important for him. I think it’s important that you make a good impression when you have such a price tag,” Nagelsmann explained. While praising Woltemade’s instinct in front of goal, the coach underlined that the striker must still integrate fully into Eddie Howe’s system. “He still has a few steps to take within the team. He still needs to find his perfect fit,” he added. Eddie: Howe stopped short of being dragged into a war of words with Rummenigge, but defended the club's outlay. "It's irrelevant, really," the Newcastle head coach said of the comments. "The market forces dictate transfers fees – not necessarily any one club. "We're very pleased to have Nick with us. I think he's started very strongly in what has been a difficult period for him because he's been thrust straight into action with no training time of note with us. "He's done really well. We're really pleased to have him with us and the transfer fee is absolutely irrelevant." Woltemade, 23, has not appeared to have been affected by the comments or his price tag, scoring two goals in his opening three Premier League games. "He's not that type of character," Howe said. "I don't think he necessarily overthinks too much, which is a really big strength. Whatever we have paid for him is irrelevant. What he is going to be judged on is how he performs in the team and what he gives to the club going forward. "I would urge any footballer to try and dust that off, but it's easier said than done. I've seen players myself be weighed down by either the fee or the expectation but he's very relaxed. He looks like he's enjoying his football, enjoying being here, and ultimately that's key."
  4. Yilmaz bodied Szobo into the dirt just then. My goodness
  5. Who is this team Bayern are torturing?
  6. So glad Liverpool and Arsenal passed on him. Would have been so annoying seeing him at either of them.
  7. Wirtz still giving the ball away cheaply.
  8. Yilmaz is such a powerhouse driving forward. Like his style.
  9. Gala look up for this. Yilmaz should have scored one on one with Alisson.
  10. Woltemade will still be a goal threat as well but later on in the phase of play. Yes he'll sometimes play the wingers in on goal to try to score directly, but sometimes it will just be a case of linking play so we can recycle the ball to either side of the pitch with more space, for the winger to attack their full back one on one. In these instances the other teams defence will have to retreat and we can then pin them back and work the ball around a bit more as Woltemade and the two 8s get forward and into the box for the final ball. We just need to give the team more opportunities to get into those sorts of positions up the pitch. I think that's going to be really difficult with just Gordon as an outlet that can carry the ball.
  11. I hope this wasn't the thought process. Ultimately the goal came from a cross from Tonali anyway. We'll manage to create chances from other players. The biggest issue was managing to get up the pitch more often and more consistently without having to clear it long, but it was proving very difficult. We really only ever managed it down the left with Gordon. When Isak was here either he or Gordon could get the ball in space down the channels and carry the ball forward and get the team up the pitch. Murphy in fact usually looked to play Isak into space early rather than carry it, which worked well. Now it's really just Gordon we can rely on as such a ball carrying outlet, which is a big part of how the team plays. Woltemade drops and looks to receive to feet. We need to give him an option either side he can then play it to,so both can then get at the opposition's full backs. He can then get forward himself and try to arrive in the box for the finish.
  12. He really isn't. He's one of the biggest problems when it comes to building up play and keeping possession down that right side. It's funny the stick Gordon has got after the Arsenal game, but he was constantly getting on the ball and trying to make things happen, even though not much came off for him unfortunately. Having Burn at left back definitely didn't help going forward. Especially as Gordon was facing probably the best defender at right back in the league, in Jurrien Timber, who is quick, strong and aggressive. Meanwhile not much was happening down our right side at all. As is usually the case when Murphy plays the team becomes overly reliant on the left side. It's just not good enough. Calafiori had absolutely nothing to challenge him or worry about all game. Also, because Murphy can't get on the ball and take on players it didn't allow much opportunity for Tino to then get forward and overlap, so he was rendered pretty ineffective also. I also think it puts more pressure on Bruno on that side as he never has the luxury of just giving the ball to the winger on that side who can then carry the ball up the pitch like Gordon often does on the left. Murphy really needs to be more of a specialist against teams that are happy to sit back and not pressure the team during the build up phase. That way we can also develop play down the right without issue and Murphy can have plenty opportunities to get in a lot more crosses to cause them problems. The sooner we get Elanga settled in on that right side the better. There's far too many benefits to our general play and the overall balance of the team that are being overlooked.
  13. From the current options available, until we start playing Gordon, Woltemade and Elanga together from the start we're not going to get going. We need speed and ball carrying either side of Woltemade. Murphy's lack of ball carrying and lack of confidence on the ball and passing the ball in build up is hurting the starting 11 currently.

    Jacob Murphy

What happened when he was put through on goal?! Looked like he should have been able to get a shot off with his left before the defender could get close. Why did he hesitate, or did he lose control of the ball? Haven't seen it back.

Even an ex-player has said this?! My God It's one thing to not fancy his style of play or whatever. But a donkey?! Personally, I really can't stand this sort of shit. I bet if he goes on to have a stormer of a season and you pull them up on it later, they'll start getting annoyed and crying about it. They always do. Idiots.

    Anthony Elanga

Yeah, I'm not a fan of it though. He's disciplined defensively, but I think it causes far more problems when trying to escape pressure and get further up the pitch.

What a shit analogy. What kind of abomination of an establishment are you eating at that has people coming up to you flogging dodgy merchandise. Do better man.
  18. The summers don't help. Key players tend to come in late on and it takes a while for the team to settle and adjust.
