Probably decided before the game.

On the other hand we have Isak, Bruno, Tonali, Gordon, Barnes, Livramento and Hall as either new or improved (closer to prime) than two years ago. Yes, I included Bruno there because I think he is one level above so far this season than he was two seasons ago, due to him being captain and taking larger responsibility on the pitch. In my eyes, the team we have today is stronger than two seasons ago, even if a few players are worse. Agree that we have not looked good so far, but if we reach what I believe is our standard, it will be a good season.

We have no idea who these targets are. Only thing said is that they really need to be an improvement on what we have. They might all be playing for CL clubs, or similar, and have turned us down because they would only go to clubs playing in CL, or to established top clubs.

I believe all worried fans are just making a mountain out of a molehill. Nothing has changed in Eddies approach. He iterates several times that Newcastle is his only priority. It has always been the case that he wants a certain amount of control and freedom in his work, it's nothing new. With all changes happening within the club it's not strange at all that he is bringing it up again that he wants to keep that. It's not like he has thought about leaving the club now. It's more that he might start to think about it if he loses the control he wants to have, but that has always been the case. As long as he still has some control of incoming players he has no problem working with a DoF. I don't think there is any reason to be worried now. Wait and see how the it works out between him and Mitchell before you start worrying about him leaving.

I don't think Eddie would enjoy being a national team manager. He is much more a club manager. What I can read out from his interviews is that he is hard working and likes the day to day work with the players. You have none of that as manager for England.

Gordon is at the Euros, and has full focus on that. They have no idea if his head has turned or not, or if he has given it any thought at all. Just lazy journalism.
-
It would be better for us if he didn't come back this season, and at the same time miss out on the Euros. Better he takes care of his shoulder and gets a proper pre season instead. Not worth it to risk him in a game or two.

Trippier said calf to the physio when he came running.
-
The 5 at the back with Livramento made a huge difference. Villa had an open lane at that side before he came on.
-
Trippier have been at his best this season. He has put in several MotM appearances, been really solid at the back and is top of the assist league together with Neto and Salah. Three bad games doesn't change that.

3-0 at Old Trafford with 6 full backs from start. Dummett and Krafth as center backs. I can't stop laughing. Howe is a mastermind.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

Didn't miss it, but we have to go to Paris when they meet Milan, and I see those two ties as equally hard for them and us. -

I think we need a win against them. If we draw, and then beat Milan at home (and they beat PSG at home), we might end up with the same points as Dortmund and they'll beat us then on head-to-head result.
