  1. It’s a bit unfair to compare them tbh. They are very different types of players. Miley is a gem for sure. But I bet Anderson will do well for us as well. He’s got the lot that lad to be an effective PL player in my view.
  2. Gyokeres would be good. Full of running, great presser and a nose for a goal. Plus - another Swede, what’s not to like? Him and Roony Bardaghji and I’d be a happy camper.
  3. Well played in the end and 3 pts in the bag. Krafth was great, Miley is a gem, clean sheet for Dubs and so good to see Sven again. Let’s hope for the best with the injuries.
  4. It’s unreal how sloppy we are in possession at the moment. 😫
  5. Howe said to Swedish TV that Isak hasn’t been and isn’t 100% fit. They are trying to nurse him back slowly from his last injury and he’s carrying a knock that makes him struggle going full pelt.
  6. Must be injured. There’s really no other explanation for him being this lethargic. He was blowing out of his arse 7-8 mins after coming on.
  7. Super proud of the team. We gave it our best shot - superb first 30-35 mins but in the end we didn’t have the nous or the energy levels to close to game out or get back in to it when they went ahead. I feel deflated as fuck though - the sadness is real. I sincerely hope that we can get the season back on track against Fulham this weekend and try and crawl over the finish line towards reinforcements in January.
  8. I love Big Dan Burn. Of course we'll be better with him in and around the team. Tino look shattered against Spurs as well by the way - not that I think Howe starts Burn tomorrow.
  9. The Phillips link won't go away - can't really see the point in a loan deal though considering how Howe likes to introduce new signings. At that rate he won't be starting games for us until late March/early April and then it's back to Man City after a couple of months.
  10. If we do buy (not a loan or free transfer) a GK in january it will be our future no 1 IMO. It would probably have happened in the next 18 months anyway. Pope's freak injury might have brought that forward though.
  11. Still firmly behind him (and I can't really see us getting results so bad that that'll change over a period of time). He's obviously a darn good manager who's also learning and growing along with the rest of the club. There are still aspects that needs changing though - but that'll come over the next few windows. We don't have the type of squad to contain other teams or control games through possession to give us a breather. As others (as well as myself) have said - we are at our best when pressing high, keeping the intensity up and in the opponents' faces. When we either can't or won't do that we're not that good. Couple that with an injury list from hell and the fatigue it brings you'll get the performances and results from Everton and Spurs away. Wouldn't shock me though to see us turning both Milan and Fulham over this week. Get us some more bodies back and maybe strengthen a position or two (GK seems like no-brainer unfortunately for Pope) and we'll be fine after New Year's.
  12. We’ve been absolutely shit today - fatigued or not. And as a whole we’ve been poor away from home this season. Mitigating circumstances of course but still. Minging.
  13. This is true. We’re turgid when trying to be more balanced and conserve energy. Could always try to press them in the second half I guess.
  14. Would be nice of Spurs to let us have the ball for a bit. Just to test the water a little. Poor game so far with loads of niggly fouls from both teams and some laughable early timewasting from us. Still in it though.
  15. We're obviously fatigued. That's an explanation of sorts for this kind of performance. But it's not an excuse - and Eddie himself seems to see this game as a missed chance. We've been terribly unlucky with injuries - most of them freak injuries, some probably related to over extertion and fatigue as well if analysed. We've also had a hellish schedule which is also an explanation and not an excuse. My biggest concern (and it is a rather small one in the grand scheme of things since we're overall doing great - particularly with the above taken into account) is that when we rock up to games trying to contain or control the flow (eg. play more possession football, lowering our starting positions, and not pressing as much as we use to) we seem a bit lost. When we go guns blazing we're often fine but overall our away performances this season has been of the more energy-conserving variety which is far from our strong point. Anyways, Eddie will get it right and there will be more bumps in the road. Wouldn't be totally surprised to see us blitz Spurs on sunday either.
  16. No matter how you dress it up, a 3-0 loss at Everton is not good at all. Disappointing.
  17. This is not just tiredness. We are actively playing passive football away from home atm. Maybe to conserve energy, maybe because of something else. Whatever the reason it’s not working unfortunately. We’re at our best when we’re on the front foot and in our opponents faces from the get go. When we try to control games we’re letting ourselves down.
  18. Well, that wasn’t great to say the least.
  19. They look OK. We look like we’ve had a case of Broon each. Both Tino and Tripps look a bit lost position-wise this far - both been caught a bit high a few times. Let’s just contain them for a bit and go for the killer blow in the second half.
  20. Kim Hellberg is an interesting one. Done wonders at a small club and there've been rumors that he was going to Hammarby (one of the biggest clubs in Sweden). His brand of football is nice as well, high intensity and possession-based. If given time he'd (unfortunately) be a good signing for Sunderland I'd think.
