  1. I wouldnt say it was something he 'badly needs to work on'. Its not like if he doesnt practice his shooting in training over the summer and puts some extra curricular shooting in as well that he's going to stop being a good footballer and the rest of his future is doomed. He doesnt get too many chances with his feet, we put crosses in for him, so he scores headers. He is inexperienced in front of goal, his thinking time and decisions aren't like Rooneys, Torres etc. But look at Defoe, he only started scoring in the last couple of years. He's a good prospect, a very good header of the ball, competent with the ball at his feet (he may not carry the ball as far as Jonas but he still looks like he has it under control at least) decent touch and learning well. I don't get your disdain with Carroll. Such a bad example man, sorry. I'm sure if you watched a video of 'Jermain Defoe 04-08 at Spurs' you'd agree more. Or dig out forum posts on defoe in 05/06.... much the same I would bet. No he wouldn't.
  2. Defoe was notorious for not scoring enough goals, not taking his chances, swinging his feet at the ball..... Then he got a run of games in a good team and showed his ability. He was always a good prospect but he hasn't been considered a finished article until the last couple of years, and he's 27! I know he needs to shoot to be a striker, but its not as if he has a ticking clock against him.... just relax. If he has it he'll be good if he doesn't he wont, he doesn't need people on forums he needs to be working on his shooting....its not like he's going to listen even if it would help, Im sure he must have been advised against growing corn-rows... All I said was is shooting is a weakness and needs to be worked on.
  3. Defoe only started scoring in the last couple of years? Of course it's something Carroll badly needs to work on, he's a striker.
  4. He has about 6 or 7 goals with his feet this season, he's proved nowt but it's something he badly needs to work on.
  5. Doesn't score goals with his feet. He's scored a couple of cracking goals with his feet this year, definately needs to work on his consistency in front of goal, but he's proven he can strike a ball. Jonas has scored 4, it proves nowt. His finishing with his feet is still his major weakness.
  6. Never though i'd say it, but yes, he's far superior in the air.
  7. Take it you missed the Cardiff and Coventry games then, he was absolutely taking the piss with his pace.

A couple. None were quite as bad as him.

A midfielder who can't run, pass or tackle isn't OK in my book. You can't seriously think he was OK last season.
  10. No wonder the press take the piss, we shouldn't even be acknowledging this rubbish.
  11. Could be the fact he's completely unproven at top level.

Oliver's words mean less than shite to me. We've all got eyes, he's been abysmal 90% of the time, as a captain and footballer.
  13. I thought you were against signing Ambrose? In any case, Routledge must easily have 10 assists since joining us, he's been absolutely brilliant, even better than Jonas.
  14. Yeah, i've only seen him play 4 or 5 times but he does look a bit special.
  15. None of them should go out the door, until we get 2 in.

    Nobby Nicked.

    Forgive me, but:
  17. Which is why a new striker should be a priority. He's not a top league player anymore.
  18. He just doesn't impose himself well enough on the game. He's peripheral for 85 minutes but against the weaker defences he's very likely to get you a goal because of his pace and instinct in the box. In the premier league he's far too much of a luxury player though.
  19. Lovenkrands and Best should probably be the first strikers out the door.
  20. He'd cost about £10m, I can't see it happening at all.
