    Players in public

surely he would have been at the PFA awards as club captain EDIT: he definetely was
  2. Jesus Wept... The whole defence is Man Utd's My team would be: Cech(he is better then EVS any day of the week) Chimbonda Rio Ferdinand Carvalho Riise Ronaldo Scholes Lampard Matthew Taylor Drogba Benni McCarthy(although my countryman Berbatov fully deserves this award) Anyone interested in the PFA Team of the Year in the Championship: Murray Alexander Davies D.Moore Bale Edwards Koumas Whitehead McSheffrey Kamara Chopra Riise ahead of Evra, Bridge and Clichy? what
  3. to be honest, before the Alkmaar (a) game, he'd given good performances 5 times in a row
  4. He didn't do too bad, but he made some shocking decisions to backup the idea that he is not capable of having an entirely good game. Overall, i'd give him a 6/10. Keeping Bramble would be an acknowledgement that s*** is good enough. a 6 out of 10 (harsh btw) implies a sound performance. Against Chelsea i'd say that is a good game personally i thought he was shakey first 5 mintes of both halves, but apart from that, he was great. The way he was imposing himself in the last half hour, winning everything, putting in killer tackles............ i'll miss that if he goes, we don't really have another defender in that mould
  5. Sibierski a poor man's Gravesen??? where the fuck does he get this shit?

    Lee Bowyer

Bow is probably the most manufactured player i've ever seen, using terrfic stamina and agression to compensate for lack of genuine 'talent' still, the guy deserves respect for that, according to pretty much every manager he's played for he's not a bad lad, just has a lot of intensity which manifests itself in the wrong things every so often
  7. Has Anelka ever hit 20 in a season before, even with penalties? he is also 28 years old and a cunt
  8. No - That was 2 years previous, when tino put his shirt on the corner flag. You're getting mixed up because we got him from Metz. And im pretty sure the blackburn goal was his only one. I remember wanting to sign him though. I think we wanted to but wouldnt pay their price it was not his only one, as i said, coventry at home, gallowgate end, header
  9. it's got to be said though, Roeder himself is making Ameobi look bad with such stupid comments
  10. I hate Souness with a passion but at least he wasn't a pretentious weed. Roeder is an embarrassment to the club everytime he opens his mouth
  11. he also scored in what was either a 4-1 or a 5-1 win over Coventry at home nice header at the near post from a corner, through Hedman's legs
  12. looks like Boothroyd has fooled Delima intelligent my left nut
  13. For a very big man Gooch seems to be king of the amateurish header, Taylor's goal being a case in point

    Lee Bowyer

in all fairness to Bow, he's being given a deeper role for West Ham, and has been unclucky with injuries this season btw, who was our last CM who managed 7 goals in a season? and before that?
  15. I agree, apart from what's bolded. He doesn't have to compare to Pele to truly be one of the greats of our game. He needs to consistently perform for the next few years and influence a major tournement in a big way (not just through non-footballing methods) before he will be a top class player. Even then Cruyff and Zidane really do and will eat his skills with ease. Veron? Would you have a manger that makes so few mistakes ? And Veron wasnt that bad, either. If he's the worst.... Well you just said he never seems to fail but for the price tag surely Veron was a failure? Not to forget Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Taibi and Carrick (who I am repulsed by quite frankly, as a footballer). including Carrick in that list is mental, the guy is pure class
  16. Shearer in his prime was for me the best all-round centre-forward on the planet so therefore is one of the best players I've ever seen. Yes he lacked Ronaldo's skill and pace but Ronaldo lacked his strength, heading ability and general leading of the line. People underestimate just how good Shearer was. Me, if I could choose between a Shearer or a Ronaldo in their pomp, I'd go for Shearer, more of a team player, braver and lead the line far better, would get you a goal from his head, right, left, set-piece or off his arse. Ronaldo, if he wasn't scoring or getting at teams, was pretty ineffective. Just my opinions though. when both Ronaldo and Shearer were in their prime (96 i reckon for Shearer) I think Ronaldo was clearly the strongest of the two when Shearer lost his pace and started hitting the gym his strength may have been a match for Ronaldo's, but i doubt it. In fact doesn't Robson's book refer to Ronaldo looking, as being as strong 'as a boxer' SBR made Ronaldo sit down and watch videos of Shearer leading the line, heading etc. so even he knew who was the better all-round striker, as for strength, I think Shearer was stronger myself, Ronaldo was the stronger runner but Shearer often held two markers in his pomp with ease. In Euro 96 there is a moment when Nadal and another Spanish player try to bully Shearer off the ball, but Shearer with his back to them helf firm before turning them and pulling it back for Sheringham I think, and the look on the Spanish players faces was one of "f****** hell". let's not forget that Ronaldo was probably 20ish then whilst Shearer was 27. Robson strongly suggests in his book that Ronaldo was the world's best player at that time anyway as it happens if Ronaldo's intelligence for the game had coincided with his fantastic physical attributes in his early 20's this thread wouldn't exist. or maybe it did, WC 2002, 8 goals.....

my christ, the players washing their own kit, what the fuck was going on?

  19. to be honest, how HTT can rank Shearer alongside THE Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Zidane is beyond me THE Ronaldo 10 years ago was better than CRonaldo now
  20. He was s****. in one game? your point being? And Krul was f****** class in one game. If he's the first choice, Krul must be in with a shout of pipping him to that spot sooner or later! you're actually proving my point with that first bit
  21. He was s****. in one game? your point being?
