He was a useful defender (and midfielder) but i wouldn't say he was bloody good in terms technique. Somewhat true. He looks like Alessandro Nesta on his classiest day compared to 'Willo' though.
-
Robert had another season in him.
-
Bellamy, Hughes, Kluivert and Robert gone in the same summer for £5m.
-
Take away Hatem, who more of a wide, wide forward and it's 8 from 7?
-
I f***ing hate Pardew man. His workrate ffs. Argh. Go buy Kuyt this summer, you moron. Any excuse to have a go.
-
Hopefully that's him in for good.
-
Far better.

Totally agree. Maybe that's always been Allardyce's problem, he wants to pass it but he's always just had s*** footballing centre halves. You think Pardew wants Simpson and Williamson in his team? Of course he doesn't.

Enqique has always had poor distribution, bar the odd ball over the top/down the line like he used to do for Martins. Actually if you had watched the last few Liverpool games you would have seen plenty examples of his poor passing. Aye, and Alan Smith's better than Scott Parker. Typical ex-Toon revisionism. What are you talking about? Enrique is comfortably a better player than Santon. We have been debating who has better technique. You said (or implied, can't be bothered to check) than Santon goes forward better than Jose. Ask Jonas about it, because our left side has less than half the attacking threat now that he's gone.

Except Wolves.

He doesn't pass the ball as well as Enrique.

We have virtually no goals in the midfield or the defence and Nolan aside that's been a problem for a while. Ben Arfa our joint 2nd top goalscorer now depsite only playing a 1/4 of games this season. To think somehow Ryan Taylor and Obertan were ahead of him.... That says it all, like.

You can attempt to convince me when Santon's half the player.
-
Nutshell to be honest. Doesn't like winter. He's from the north of France. Why doesn't he like winter?
-
Which players were worse technically? Nolan was worse than Cabaye, Carroll/Shola were worse than Ba, Enrique and Santon are very similar with the ball on the ground, Ben Arfa is more technically gifted than Barton Santon is superior to Enrique technically, no doubt. Aye, right. Do you really believe Enrique has better passing, dribbling, technique and a superior first touch to Santon? Enrique could sink 12 pints and still be superior in those areas.
-
I wonder why he crouches when players are running at him. It just makes him even more flat-footed.

Type of game that makes me wish Marveaux was fit and we had 5 players of the final 6 who'd just attack them.
-
If 'sack Pardew' Wullie and 'get him out' Mick represent the majority I'd say that's a pretty bloody comfortably place to be.
-
The left side is to blame for that. You can't expect him to stay central and give away acres of space.

Giving Arsenal the ball straight back every time we get it, yes very sensible tactics. As opposed to trying to play through them with a vastly inferior midfield? We'd have lost comfortably. I'm tired of folk projecting false qualities onto our players. Half of our team doesn't want the ball yet we should always keep it down against Arsenal, of all teams?
