.. and the obvious one - Gene Hackman

emm it's hard to tell.. He's not a pussy, but he ain't no workhorse either.. Just think of him as another O'Hara.. he doesn't offer much protection to the full backs, but he is still a better option defensively than Bentley or Dos Santos (whatever happened to him?)
-
I'd say that N'Zogbia's not a bad tackler and is more powerful than he seems, but his positioning and general defensive awareness are awful, so I don't think he'll ever become even a mediocre left back
-
I'd rather see talented arrogant fuckers than gutless honest pro crap like Smith, Duff and Butt..

The bad news. Shorey is f***ing gash. He's absolutely no physical presence, no pace *whatsoever* and no idea what to do when he does get forward. Put it like this. MON prefers to play Luke Young on the wrong side of the pitch, and NRC or Cuellar at RB to avoid playing Shorey. When Freddie Bouma comes back, he'll have even less of a prayer Please, please, please take him. Actually, if he did go to you, it would make much more sense of the N'Zogbia rumours. To be fair, this guy has played for England and therefore cannot be f***ing gash......he hasnt performed for Villa, but he's hardly played.Like you say Bouma will be fit soon and Shorey will be further down the pecking order,i think he'd be a good acquisition. If he was f***ing gash, why did o'neill buy him in the first place.....he must have watched him. but yeah, I agree he's not that bad.. Like I said in another thread, if he's up to the challenge to raise his game here (of all places), then sure - Enrique could do with a little competition

As it all comes down to Kinnear now, I think he has to be really turbo s*** in training to not get a contract.. It'd be good if the scouts have done their homework and Lovenkrands has the right kind of personality and is determined enough to do well for us, because we don't need more disinterested players right now.. The players we bought in the summer (except Xisco and the other one) have so far shown great character and are already key players, despite the difficult circumstances.. So yeah, if Lovenkrands is mentally up to it and is at least remotely capable to run at people, he'd be an asset to the squad
-
what if Lovenkrands is completely finished (like Duff) and yet Kinnear insists on starting him, instead of let's say Jonas.. I'd say that's not very likely, but in recent years we've seen Pattison start ahead of Luque, Duff ahead of N'Zogbia and Carroll ahead of Xisco, so this wont be the first time a manager f***s up, because he favors his players.

I'd say they're equally inadequate, although I've never seen him play for Schalke.. I have no complaints on this transfer, as long as we keep N'Zogbia Its still a winner then. £12m for milner or £0m for this chap. it's not a winner if he's motivation is gone a la Duff, Smith and Viduka and yet keeps on starting games

because we have eyes.. I'm sure Taylor has more than 10 games this season and he certainly hasn't performed better than Colo.. as for Enrique, he's a tougher bastard than he looks.. he's been as solid as Beye and Bassong defensively and that's good enough for me
-
Enrique has been better than at least half the Premier league's left backs and if Coloccini is a flop then surely Berbatov, Nasri, Keane, Deco and Crouch have flopped as well..
-
hope you're right.. we could do without another not particularly good heavy CF
-
agree.. N'Zogbia can do a good job as an attacking midfielder.. that'd probably weaken our defence, despite Guthrie's brilliant form lately, but I'd rather have a weakened defence than Nicky Butt trying to break both teams' attacking play.. especially against weaker sides like fucking Hull - Guthrie and N'Zogbia will work better
-
Well summarised. that's ridiculous, have you ever played football boys.. Jonas is able to get the ball in our half, go through 3 players with ease and pick the striker with a clever pass.. he's not shy of taking responsibility with the ball at his feet and that's good enough for me. Jonas may not score or get an assist and he may be funny when he runs, but his contribution to our attacking play is invaluable.. Not a typical winger, of course, just a brilliant team player
-
he was untouchable the first.. pretty involved and they literally couldn't take the ball off him, faded in the second, but I have no complaints
