  1. you think it will just be Good, then Dave? They must have pretth high hopes for him if they see him as 4th/5th choice, with Perchinho always being an option.
  2. Yeh I can't see us not signing a centre-half for the starting 11. Its ludicrous if we dont.
  3. So according to Douglas our Best 11 would be the follwing if all of our transfers go to plan: Krul Debuchy S.Taylor Coloccini Santon Tiote Anita HBA Cabaye De Jong Cisse With Ba and Jonas behing heabily rotated into that side. Pretty decent. Though still concerned about Williamsons inability to pass a football should Saylor get injured again.
  4. Think thats bollocks, Good wouldnt be a first team signing.
  5. What do we think. Im thinking Defensive Mid, Striker, Right Back and Centre Back,
  6. Hes in the current u/20's team. Olympic team didnt qualify for the Olympics, because the coach Aurelio Vidmar picked all the wrong players for the qualifiers and this current batch of youngsters is rather shit. There are a few gems amongst them though like Jason Davidson, Tommy Oar, Curtis Good, Tom Rogic (Nike Academy), Mustafa Amini, Eli Babalj and Josh Risdon. Unfortunately none of them featured for the u/23's much.
  7. Babalj is going to be some player. Went to Belgrade due to his Serbian roots, played against him when he was young. Hes about 6 foot 5 with incredible touch and skills. Starting to add more goals to his game, certainyl one to watch out for in the Serb league. Bit of a Viduka type player, but more of a dribbler.
  8. Pardew didn't mention a name on Talksport did he, just said a loan player had made an impression? After the signing of Lubomir Satka I assumed it was him and not Curtis. Hope you're right and he's ready for some first team action this season already. Certainly a position where we've been lacking a young up and coming player after Kadar fell off the radar.. At the time Pards was talking the French Centre half we had on trial as i remember it, Christophe...... "something" from OM i think. Seeing as he didn't mention a name and we had three CB trialists how do you know who he was talking about at the time, especially as, with the benefit of hindsight, we've signed or are in the process of signing the other two..? He didn't mention the name but he did say "we have a French lad on trial who we think a lot of and are trying to sort something out regarding him" i pretty much think that was nearly it, word for word. I put the 2 and 2 together because we had taken "Christophe Lowinsky" on trial a week or 2 before, tbf he could haver been talking about another player though. I heard, "weve had a young defender on trial for a few weeks, and Im telling you now, we like what we see from the lad, hes got alot of potential and we think hes going to be a star" at the time i was pretty certain it was Good he was talking about, and if its true that weve agreed a fee for him, i think that it would have been he who he was talking about.
  9. The Great Craig Moore! To be fair Ive always thought he was a good defender, lacked pace, was injusry prone and enjoyed the piss far too much.
  10. Pardew didn't mention a name on Talksport did he, just said a loan player had made an impression? After the signing of Lubomir Satka I assumed it was him and not Curtis. Hope you're right and he's ready for some first team action this season already. Certainly a position where we've been lacking a young up and coming player after Kadar fell off the radar.. yeh, though i was under the impression that it was Good he was talking about. Hed spent 3 weeks at the club and it was reported in Australia that hed been doing alot of one on one training with Pardew, whod taking a likeing to him.
  11. If he's s*** you're to blame thar. He wont be shit.
  12. Rated incredibly high by John" van 't Schip and Alan Pardew according to that interview on Talksport. Think he will be much in a similar mould to Abeid this season. Will train with the first team, make rare appearances, play alot of reserves football. But Australia is a market that is still incredibly good value for players. If we sign Good for 300k he has a "good" few games in the first team. His price is going to go up ten fold. Cant really lose. Teams like Dortmund are already ahead of the game and have signed Mustafa Amini, one of the most technically gifted Australian youth players in generations.
  13. Apparently Harry Kewell is close to signing with Blackburn as well. Going to be a team of has beens.
  14. He had a good season in the Turkish league last year. Not good enough for Juventus currently, but playing regularly in the Serie A will improve him. Still don't think he would have made it here. Players need to move on to develop.
  15. Yeh i have no doubt. Josh Kennedy absolutely destroys the J-league, one of the top scorers 2 seasons running, just due to his superior height and heading ability. Id hate to see what Drogba is going to do to the far inferior Chinese Super League.
  16. Well it's easy to see why that Krul overhead kick would cause any Spurs fan to lose hope tbh. you all know what i meant
  17. your still reading that shit!?
  18. KD left the forum the day Spurs thumped us 5-1. Was quite strange.
  19. Its funny, in Australia its a disgrace if you dont support the country of your parents birth. All the Australian bred Italians and Porto's are massive fans of those countries even if they have never been there in their life. A portuguese girl I know the other day was schocked and apalled that I wasnt supporting England, so I had to explain to her, Im Australian so i support Australia and Newcastle. Therfore Im going for France coz i have a massive man crush on both Ben Arfa and Cabaye.
  20. Buffon Coentrao Pepe Jordi Alba Schweinsteiger Iniesta Fabregas Pilar Gomez Ronaldo Cassano
  21. Im picking mostly Portoguese, German, Spanish and Italian players .. with a sprinkle of Czech just to make up the numbers.
  22. tmonkey's analysis was bloody awful overall, but that particular observation was pretty dead-on. not quite, as Colo is okay when we keep a high line and there's enough space in behind for him to catch up. he's usually got the ability, nous, strength and top speed to shepherd the attacker towards the flanks and enable us to wait for reinforcements. he's also damned good running back to cover for other people's mistakes and putting in last ditch tackles so it's wrong to say he has no ability to recover. it's more that he's not agile enough to change directions quickly or accelerate powerfully over shorter distances and that causes probs. Apologies for being a pedant, but the one thing I felt colo truly struggled against last season was pace. Re-watch the WBA home game for example, Long and Odemwingie tore colo a new one. We 100% need a quick centre half Colo was not 100% fit for this game and was carrying a thigh strain, that would be why it looked like he was exposed for lack of pace.
  23. England have done alot better than I thought, which to me is all down to Hodgson. He has the team united and playing for eachother. Gerrard has been a revelation since given the captaincy.
