it wasn't keegan and wise hetting binned that done for us, it was what followed. Which, in a nutshell, was friction and unbalance within the management set-up. The last straw for Keegan was Wise signing a player (Gonzalez) that he wanted nothing to do with. The pair together was never going to work, and didn't. That's with the benefit of hindsight, obviously. and had a different appointment been made after keegan instead of kinnear it could all have turned out so very different. true in that it was never going to work, keegan knew from his time at fulham what happens when a DoF can't keep his nose out where it shouldn't be. Ah okay, fair enough. I dare say the situation could have been rectified, it was only two games in after all. The job was a poisoned chalice when Keegan left. Not even El Tel would touch it. Was a horrendous time.

Dont want to be a downer .. but the year we got relegated I genuinely thought we were going to finish top 4 at the start of the season. Keegan was our manager, we were making moves for Pablo Aimar for some creative spark, talk of Schweinsteiger coming. Coloccini came in. We had a strike force of Martins, Owen and Viduka. One of the best right backs in the league, in Beye. You just never know what can happen in football. Aye but to be fair mate that's because you're clearly off yer rocker. Harsh call that Sewelly You thought we'd finish top four ahead of 2008/2009 season? Seriously? Yeh i was quite optimistic .. i remember spencer prior tipping us for 4th here in Ausralia... I believed the cunt

Well spotted Columbo Dave. Not really. Ill get it. I quite like it to be honest. 100 times better than that crap they gave us in the 2010/11 season.

Turned down £30m too. He'd still be here if Liverpool stopped there. Though the club has stated if another irresistable offer is made for one of our stars, they will be gone. Though we can guarantee well be getting a cracker deal, and we'll aim to replace them with a player of equal talent or the potential to be better for a far better price.

Would piss me off thoroughly .. leaving an up and coming team in the worlds best league .. for Turkey. Would show where his priorities are. However, he may be just as concerned about his knee, as all these clubs are and jump for the money to secure his long-term financial future.

Nah theyve got Marin as well. No way they would want Hatem. The Manchester clubs dont need a player like him. Arsenal are quite strong in those positions. There is no way hed take a sideways step to Liverpool or Tottenham. Faily confident hell still be here next season. Unless someone like Schalke or Bayern offer big money for him.

How about Rene Girard or Marcelo Bielsa?

I don't find it hilarious, just belated, he should have gone on the last day of the season when Levy and Redknapp had their blazing row. Redknapp had no interest in Spurs from the day of his acquittal, the same day as Capello went, to the appointment of Hodgson as the England manager. He didn't want a new contract before Hodgson got the job because he knew the compensation clauses could put the cost of signing him beyond the reach of the FA. Taking the eye off the ball doesn't even begin to describe what was going on. Still, better late than never, all good things come to those who wait and all that. Who do you want to replace him Jol? Give me your top four realistic candidates ranked from favourtite to least favourite. I want a manager who would be loyal and hardworking to go with ability, things that Redknapp lacked. If he had worked as hard looking after Spurs as promoting himself Harry would probably still be the manager now. Levy admires Klopp but I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance of getting him. Mourinho (who is good friends with Levy) has recommended AVB, don't know how either Moyes or Martinez would get on with better players and more money to spend, the dark horse could be Benitez, Levy used to get on well with him. I'd be surprised if the new man came from outside those. Who would I want? Tough choice, not a great style but a safe pair of hands with Moyes, or playing with style with Martinez and hope he can handle it? If he can, and that's a big gamble, Martinez could be the answer, if not, Moyes. But as I like a gamble, Martinez ............ Moyes ............ Benitez ............ AVB Interesting .. you've certainlk=y got the players for Martinez to mould into an excellent side to watch. To be honest I quite like Evertons style. They played us off the park last game of the season with some wonderful football.

you cant deny that Redknapp did a good job at Spurs, had them playing attractive and successful football. Just a shame hes a fucking annoying wanker.

Pards won't go, it would be stupid in the middle of what he's making here, and they're not in champions league. I know.. I pray he doesnt... But jsut for a bit of banter .. if he did go?

In a hypothetical world, if Spurs were to opt for Pardew and he agreed to take the move. Who would you want to replace him? Would you take Redknapp? Martinez? Blanc? AVB? Rudi Garcia? I wouldnt be too disappointed with any of those names. Would probably want Garcia due to his knowledge of French football and ability to speak English.

I dont know. I think a club the size of Milan or Bayern would seriously turn his head.

Not coming! Too good!

What's this s*** Dont agree with this either! Cisse, Ba, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Jonas Coloccini and Krul are they key players in the side. Santon is very close to being a part of this group, with a little more consistancy and work defensively.

£5M-£7M spent on a replacement for Guthrie seems just very strange though. Yeah i think Amalfitano is Guthrie's replacement..... this is more a quality addition to the squad that can play DM and in both fullback positions. Disagree from what little i've seen of both... Amalfitano appears more of an attacking midfielder so replaces Lovenkrands for me whereas Anita seems to player deeper... Either way they both look like technical upgrades... Are you seriously suggesting Anita would be a Guthrie replacement as in a mere squad player for us? Why would he leave Ajax where he is a guaranteed starter and in the CL to sit on our bench? Also, can't see us spending >10m on a "Guthrie replacement". No... I'm talking basic like for like style replacements to our squad... Not sure where he would fit into first eleven considering the positions he plays are currently held by our better players... Maybe more competition for Jonas and to rotate with Tiote/Cabaye when unavailable... As for a £10m fee I can't see it myself... I reckon if we got this lad and keep Tiote then Anita will replace Jonas as DM alongside Tiote in the 4-2-1-3 That would make some of my dreams come true! Jonas could then play in Ba's position against the big teams. Offering more workrate.

Which has just quoted what they read and what we posted (the NUFC Blog story) on here, passed it off as their own. I remember reading somewhere that the club is targeting versatile players, as it is more valuable to the squad. It therefore makes sense that we would be after him. Also Pardew went to quite a few Ajax games this season, supposedly scouting Vertonghen. However it may have been Anita they were watching all along. Dont get me wrong, he's the type of player we are targetting and need tbf, but i've just looked at nearly all the paper/internet stories i could find. Every single one has the line "his agent claims". Exactly as the fans blog site claimed, i cant find one direct quote other than what the blog is claiming. I agree. Its a possibility that it is true and thats where its at at the moment.
