Yep, looks way off the pace. Gets caught in possession repeatedly, which is in stark contrast to last year when you couldn't get the ball off him. Hopefully it's been spotted and they're working on it, I think we're past the point where we can blame his naff pre-season. He's such an important player for us that we need him on form in the games he's available. I know this is getting chucked about every other post regarding Cheik, but isn't he fasting for Ramadan? Certainly isn't his usual self and I don't get how he can go from being so class to so naff. Agreed, he seems to be lacking confidence on the ball, you can see the panick in his body while the ball is at his feet. Perhaps its him getting used to new team mates, fasting for ramadan, lacking preaseason.. who knows. He doesn't look half the player he was last season and its concerning

tiotes been absolutely shit to be honest

Good win, but we still are not fluent or quick enough in posession. Tiote looks miles off the pace and is far from confident on the ball. Positives were Krul, Coloccini, Saylor, Cabaye and Best. Obertan was more impressive today, needs to take his man on one on one more and utilise his pace. knock it pasty and run. Ba also looked alot better than he has in his previous 2 outings.

lets complain about it if we dont get a result. Howay the lads

lets hope loven plays shit and scores 2

I think playing Joey Barton as a right midfielder after andy carroll left was a useless exercise. We did not have the strikers to thrive on the long ball service and were therefore over reliant on scoring at set pieces. We lacked genuine width on the right wing, as simpson doesnt have the quality to overlap effectively. We would be better served palying a pacy winger to stretch the opposition defence more.

It's clear we are only interested in deals that are "value for money" such as Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa. The club is not interested in investing rediculous amounts of money on players as done so in the past, as results showed in the past it is not succesfully on the pitch or financially.
-
Its disappointing in the sense that Barton was versatile enough to be a starting player on the right or midfield and was a quality replacement, in the inevitable case that either Cabaye or Tiote get injured. I would like someone with that versatility, I guess someone a bit like James Milner.
-
Now that Joey Barton has left, who would you like to see him replaced with? Would you like a player with similar attributes, or more of a outright winger? Do you think he will be replaced? Personally id like a winger with the crossing ability of Barton but with a lot more pace. Someone like Adam Johnson. Being realistic though, i dont know who we can attract.

Agreed positive stuff on here for once

the news keeps getting better. There is no doubt the club are keen to get his wages and media attention away.
