  1. it’s a shame Krafth got injured, he was brilliant at the end of last season.
  2. pretty sure Kuol is on the same. Must be the going rate for promising talent.
  3. i hope so! Would be great for NUFC and Australian football. He does seem like a really humble and grounded kid, so the signs are good.
  4. i think you need to understand that in a nation like Australia, the World Cup is the only way football makes it into the main stream media. It’s one opportunity every 4 years to make a statement, draw attention and hopefully funding into the sport. This can only happen by being successful and winning games at the World Cup. The sport is so poorly funded by both commercial partners and the government. All government money goes to AFL, Cricket and Rugby. Kuol was brought into the squad as an impact player to help create and score goals at the end of games. Not for experience or for helping him with his work permit.
  5. Australia were holding onto 1-0 leads and defending for their lives in both those games, It’s not the time to bring on a raw, x-factor attacking player who has only played minimal professional games in his young career. I would have loved to have seen more of him though.

    The Round of 16

I agree with your post flip, except for terrible side. Terrible sides don't win 2 games at a world cup and push a tournament favourite in a KO games. Yes, it isn't beautiful football, but its effective at getting results.

    The Round of 16

Exactly. Souttar was playing up front. Australia were playing with one centre back at that stage. Argentina were not great in that match.

    The Round of 16

I would fancy the Dutch to beat Argentina on tonights performances. Without Messi and a massive fuck up by Mat Ryan, the Argentines didnt threaten the Aussie goal too much.
  9. He is normally played wide right, using his pace and dribbling skills to outdo opponents. Perhaps the occasion got to him also, hes the youngest player to feature in the world cup KO since Pele.

    The Round of 16

Proud of Australia. We pushed a tournament favourite to the last minute. We were never going to dominate possession or create a heap of chances. Our team is full of championship, A-league and SPL players. And yes, I nearly died when Garang had that chance.

This Dutch team is so boring to watch. Since when do Dutch teams not want possession of the ball.

This stadium is a bit shit btw. Crowd seems miles away from the pitch. It’s like London Stadium.

Very nice goal. Come on USMNT!
  17. it’s probably to give major nations like China a better chance of qualifying. China, Indonesia and India have some of the largest populations in the world. Imagine what it would do for FIFAs bank account If they can get those populations more invested.
  18. Both teams will be exhausted at about 75 minutes. A fresh Kuol could create some problems for Argentina if the game is somehow close.
  19. I think it’s also worth remembering, that the current ownership like to consistently play things down to the media. Anything can happen in January.
  20. He will only make it onto the pitch if Australia nerd a goal with less than 25 minutes to go. The last 2 games Australia have been leading and he’s too inexperienced to help see out a game.
  21. haha, I was thinking more like the team that beat Leeds away last season and scrounged results.
  22. This Australia side reminds me of us under Eddie Howe. Massive amounts of spirit; togethernes and belief. It can count for a lot, when the team isn’t full of stars.
  23. I dont think we would pay 70mill for a midfielder. We would back ourselves to find a player of similar quality for half of that price. I do think Howe would get far more out of Rice in our midfield 3. Hed be perfect to be the sitting midfielder.
