  1. Cheers ...and not a stat in sight
  2. Selling our best, most creative passer to bring in a 6ft 2 striker to pump balls towards won't please me when i pay to watch the shite.
  3. In the last 10 games our short passes per game have dropped below 300 in one game, the average being 398. Southampton (285), which Cabaye sat out. We average almost 50 less short passes per game in the 3 games he's missed than in the 19 games he's played. HOOF!!!
  4. Pardew's biggest embarrassment has been categorically saying Carroll would not be sold. 100%. Then selling him He's learned not to give those assurances now. We've brought in Kinnear to talk absolute bollocks instead. His truthful answers seemed less about offloading the player and more about avoiding a repeat of his earlier mistakes.
  5. My first post on my "Mike Ashley Lies" blog in a few years. http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/i-will-not-let-any-player-leave.html It started off as an explanation of why anger might have dissipated over a couple of years but disillusionment has returned after 2 windows without a buy...then we sold Cabaye while it was unfinished and it lost any direction and turned into an emo moan.
  6. ...and someone get SEMTEX a plate.... http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,93975.msg4648643/topicseen.html#msg4648643
  7. I reckon they'll shit on Fulham & West Ham and get some breathing space.
  8. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,93975.msg4648632.html#msg4648632 Fair play to MrMojo for paying out early on this. Top lad. Telt you's Laudrup was shite.
  9. Don't massively disagree with the overall sentiments, but had we taken our chances yesterday, we'd have been 5 up by half time and out of sight. Both teams missed chances. You're right yeah, a bit like Southampton who should have been out of sight first half vs the Mackems. I've noticed people reporting more and more often that we can't 'perform' for more than 90 minutes these days too, eventually the penny will drop. Neither Southampton or villa switched to being defensive yesterday. Opponents that have been pummeled tend to come back with a flea in their ear. It takes a rare breed of shit to sit back and let it go on if they've been done for an entire 45... Or a rare breed of quality to keep hammering a team despite their renewed motivation.
  10. Apparently the jackets in The Officers Deck were originally £300 as well £10 is a bargain.
  11. Don't know what the figures say but on the surface I'd imagine NUFC's numbers must be holding up quite well against the general backdrop of the Premier League, football in general and the other north east clubs. The ticket pricing and family initiatives although undoubtedly a marketing thing are really to be applauded. Are we the cheapest ? A ticket where I sit was 68 quid yesterday and it was sold out. Not bad for a televised Sunday lunch time kick off in troubled economic times. We're the ONLY club (worth comparing) to be taking less money outside of TV in the most recent accounts than 5 years ago.... http://i41.tinypic.com/161l5ao.jpg
  12. He's got a 27% points return against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and man City while at Newcastle. Wenger has 32%. Rodgers at Liverpool is on 22%. I didn't realise that. Interesting reading. It's a statistic comparing 3 managers with sample sizes of about 18 years, 3.5 years, and 1.5 years. And 2 of them are managing sides included in the sample. I only included Wenger over the same period as Pardew. Not sure how length of service makes any difference like.
  13. He's got a 27% points return against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and man City while at Newcastle. Wenger has 32%. Rodgers at Liverpool is on 22%. I didn't realise that. Interesting reading. It's nowt special. In the same time Everton (under Moyes and Martinez) have took 40% of points off those teams. But it's satisfactory. Allardyce who has a reputation as a spoiler has only taken 14% of points off them while at West ham.

  15. Is Prozone the only company that does it? Could be that. Nah, OPTA as well, but sounds like they're lagging behind.
  16. Wonder who the one team that don't use prozone are?

  18. The take from bums on seats has been diminishing since the day Ashley walked into the club. The (almost) full stadium is only the result of the cheapest tickets in the league and the largest family enclosure in the league. Unfortunately, ticket sales are an ever-decreasing proportion of income with TV money continuing to rise exponentially. Fan power diminishes along with that shift. The ticket price is becoming more of a nominal amount to ensure the advertising in the ground is associated with a popular brand.
  19. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/jan/12/newcastle-united-defensive-structure-alan-pardew Good read EDIT: Posted elsewhere i see. Soz. Relevant here too though. That good run of five losses in a row? 4 innit? Results don't matter when performances are shit and we win. Performances don't matter when we lose valiantly. Hater's gonna hate.

  21. I stated the obvious reservations while waxing lyrical about him being the player I enjoy watching more than any other in over a decade at SJP.... and was told I want him sold. I think it's less about people slating or going crazy and more a case of posts being willfully misinterpreted.
  22. This season so far and who has had the most game time? Ben Arfa scored 3 assisted 4. Sissoko scored 1 assisted 4. I'm not making the case that Sissoko is better going forward. My response was to Bendewar who said "Sissoko makes more poor attacking decisions than Ben Arfa. He forever makes the wrong choice. but he defends better than Ben Arfa so keeps his place?? If Pardew wants to defend, play a defender. Sissoko is never a right midfielder and is therefore wasted. " Ben Arfa is clearly better at scaring defences, but Sissoko offers something and is not wasted either when we have the ball or when we don't. Ben Arfa offers less when we don't have the ball than Sissoko offers when we do.
  23. Sissoko set up the winner against Man U and a similar one against Palace, both from the right. Not sure the last time Benny laid it out on a plate for anyone like that. Sissoko's wayward passing is often a disgrace like. They all have their pros and cons.
  24. Is that the best you can come up with? The manager complained that we had tired players and dropped a player who has hardly played while others who have played virtually every game played again and you think Shola is an alternative? You're trolling now. Yeah, it should have had a safety wink after it.
  25. Are you trying to act daft, last year he blamed Europe for player tiredness while virtually fielding 2 different teams. This year he claimed tiredness after the Arsenal defeat and made 1 change a couple of days later, he dropped one of our least used players and brought in Shola. Shola has played less than Anita or Ben Arfa this year.
