It wasnt worth the risk at all to be honest. It was a stupid thing to do. The team comes way ahead of any individual of their confidence. Had he scored and kick started his season then the team benefits from that, I doubt any of them thought he would miss it. Yes at 1-0 it was a risk but I 100% understand why they tried it. But thats really not the point. It was a game we were desprate to win, HBA had the ball and wanted to take it after scoring the one against Spurs and Jonas and Ba talked him out of it. At 2 or 3 nil I would totally agree with you, but at 1-0 it was a daft thing to do and acould have cost us. Poor Hatem. Let him do what he wants when he wants. Or.... let a player full of confidence who scored his last one and is one of two designated pen takers take the pen rather than a player totally out of confidence maybe?

He's 21, he can cope. Agreed, he's playing well at the minute, play him on wednesday and Saturday at Reading, rest him against Bordeaux to let us have a look at Fergie, bring him back for the man u league game then he gets a 2 week break while the internationals are on. Would much rather rest Santon for this rather than Bordeaux

I watched the last couple of minutes on the tv on the way out and whoever was commentating was doing their nut at him calling him a Bull in a China shop and cant be doing stuff like that. The challenge he was referring too (a one in the air) didnt look that bad?

Its was a shocking decision tbh. From what I saw at the time and the TV at half time it looked as though Ba and Jonas talked HBA into it, I was livid. The team always comes first. Luckily it didnt cost us.

Think he was my MOM today, 3 games in 6 days too. Well done lad.

First few minutes I thought we started confidently enough, then they had a cracking chance which I think Taylor deflected wide. From then we were shaky, up until the period in which we scored the goal and should have had at least one more as we cranked up the pressure and played some very good stuff. We let them off the hook though, and similar to the Everton game the away team drew confidence from getting to half time still in with a shout. We were very nervy and poor for pretty much the rest of the game. Yeah I'd tend to agree with most of that, although I wouldnt see we we very nervy. They had a couple of half chances but I didnt feel we were ever in a huge amount of danger. Score the pen before half time aand the second half is a totally different story.

HBA wanted the pen and he was talked out of it, no two ways about it. Could have cost us the game.

We played fine in the first half to be fair, second half wasnt so good. But sitting with 8 points after a pretty tough start without playiing well is a good enough start.

HBA gave it to him. After being talked into in by Jonas and Ba. He didnt want to give it to him.

Thought he was great today actually, however I stand by my comments in so much he shouldnt be out on the left. He cant create. I tend to agree with you but I think if Santon had a left foot this would be less of an issue. Himself and Santon do work well together though, I think Jonas very much knows his limitations when it comes to attacking these days. If Santon figures out what to do when he gets in the box he isi going to be a force, but thats a different issue. Jonas just isnt a winger anymore. You need two outlets at home and he really isnt one. We need another idea at home on the left.

My piss was boiling when they took the ball off HBA, was a shocjing dicision. Good tthree points though and glimpses that we are getting back to our best.
