Midfielder isn't he? Yeah the fact that he can play LB as well as CM is really attractive. Can't understand why some people think CM isn't a real need, we only have 2 at the moment. I'd feel more confident starting Williamson at CB than I would depending on any of the youngsters or playing the likes of Raylor in CM. With Guthrie gone we could certainly do with another central mid. If anything happens to Tiote or Cabs you'll be relying on kids. and relying on jonas more central if you want to go 3 in the middle. Doesn't that new French lad play CM? I imagine with/if Marveux available Jonas will be a back up for a midfield 2 too. He does but we've no idea how good he is or how he'll settle to the prem. Not sure if he looks like your typical centre medfielder too, although i've seen very little of him. Not sure if he looks physical enough to dominate the middle,

Yeah happy with Jonas in there as a three not in a 4-4-2 aye.

You would think a right footed fullback would be able to play right back though wouldn't you?? It must feel more natural than playing on the wrong foot. The only thing natural about it is you have the chance to cross with your best foot. From personal experience I have played more on the left than right, mostly because it feels easier all round from a right foot perspective. the only times i've found it makes much difference what foot you kick with and what side you play on is if you have the mindset of hitting the bye-line whenever you can. there are advantages and disadvantages to whichever side you play on. I like the full backs to be able to overlap, get past the last man and whip a cross in. That tends to be less effective if you are cutting back inside. We've seen Santon do both to be fair though. He's good enough to play Left back long term. The cutting in from the left onto his right could be a good weapon for us.

Cool. What else has he got right?

Lets hope HBA gets 45. -
Seen a couple of snippets the last couple of days from the local rags talking about HBA consistency already. Correct me if i'm wrong but he hasnt played a single f***ing minute yet. And he finished last season pretty consistently so i'm not sure where this is coming from. f***ing Chris Waddle gets a whole article in todays Chron about it - by Lee Ryder of course. Ryder being the one who was on his back last season until HBA hit his form then he couldnt get out of his arse. Bunch of wankers.

How come you always put up these stupid formations? -
Its beyond ridiculous now, its one thing being tough on negotiations but this time it seems to be backfiring. They are only the right player if they are cheap enough, its not always going to work that way, at times you are going to have to pay the asking price if you want the player. It only becomes ridiculous when the window shuts.
-
Hope you're right. Pardew disagrees like. How is HBA not being fit - the club making a balls up of pre season??
-
I'd imagine its just a kick up the arse to spur them on.

Sounds positive.

Agree with this. I don't know why people think we've not bid enough for him, £6m for a full back is still a pretty major investment. Sure Lille would like us to give them another couple of mill but it's still a lot of money for a full back. You would expect them to play hardball and they are. At the end of the day though they won't want an unhappy player on their hands and a compromise will be reached. If not then we'll have to look elsewhere because when it starts going closer to £7m I think we'll start looking at alternatives...maybe a young left back with Santon switching to the right. We've only bid 6million Euros though not £. If we bid £6mil then we'd probably have him by now.

Anyone know if this little fucker is back training yet?

where's this from?

was clearly taking the piss with this post and its followed by two or three posts berating Ashley. God love the Toon.
