West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Elliottman replied to Pilko's topic in Football
from danwalkerbbc So why was a £35m bid rejected then.. It wasnt. They released that we rejected their 2nd offer & gave no details on what that was, we may well have accepted a 3rd by that point & been calming a backlash. Its common sense. Common sense?, really? Its common sense to say that we hadn't rejected a bid, because we probably, maybe, perhaps had accepted a third bid, so Carroll then asked to leave instead of just leaving and picking up his part of the transfer? That's common sense now? You've tangled up your own thoughts there. Im purely saying that we simply released that we'd turned down a 2nd offer. The idea that this meant a deal was off the table or hadnt already been agreed since that point is all assumptions. David craig was making a point of saying Ashley was resisting selling as much as he could, as if he was "trying his best" & a further way to back this up would be to leak that we'd turned down 2 offers in a row. This purely suggests that we were trying hard to keep him, which is what you're being lead to think. The fact that we made no attempt to take any deal off the table & were quiet all day suggests the opposite. Still no explanation as to why he handed in a transfer request. Does it not maker more sense that we actually DID reject the bids, Caroll decides he wants a payrise - hands in a transfer request, leaving little option but to accept bid? -
West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

from danwalkerbbc Makes no sense at all. Its an absolute nonsense. Carroll will play the "I love the Toon, never wanted to leave" card but he's f***ed off for a massive pay hike. He'll rightly get a shed load of abuse. Totally agree. Just signed a 5 year contract here, realise he could potenially double/treble what he is on - slaps in a transfer request. simples. -

Quoted for brilliance. -
City fan at work says he had one really good season for them playing alongside Elano, the rest of the time very mediocre. 1 good season in 5 is nothing to get excited about - unless of course he can recreate that season. Season before last he scored 9 goals and contributed 10 assists in 34 starts. 07/08, 30 starts 4 goals, 4 assists. If we can get him back to playing like he was the season before last, we're going to have an excellent palyer on our hands. It's going to be up to Pardew, Nolan et al and us as supporters to do this. Besides, it's only a loan? Agreed. Nothing to lose if its a loan. If its even happening at all!?

Striker, then attacking midfield, then midfield, then def midfield, next will be defence, and finally a goalkeeper before he retires. -
SWP is good enough for us.

Colo actually played more in a DM role for Deportivo. I personally think he's more suited to that position, rather than CB. No, just no. He's just put in a World Class peformance the game before, why on earth would you move him to CM where he hasnt played for the last 3 years against a pacey Spurs team? Who else you gonna stick there? Strong tackler and good passer of the ball. He's wasted in defence IMO. How is he wasted when he is our number 1 centre half? Guthrie will come in id imagine. Maybe Gosling depending on fitness. Leave Colo where he is. -

The hatred for the chicken dance has got me creasing.

This is a f***ing wind up surely? He did give away the ball really cheaply at the end, which led to the counterattack they scored from. Saying someone is slow and is unable to retain possesion from a 10 minutes sub appearance after 6/7 months out is barmy.
