  1. My point being though, if you replace him with WR you will get nothing different. If WR cant do it in his favorite position, he's hardly going to fancy taking someone on with his left foot. Stick with Jonas and hopefull he can regain some confidence and get that understanding with Jose back.
  2. Routledge has been clueless on the right this season when he's played. He is scared of this league. Puttinghim on the left would be asking to get hammered down that side. Whilst Jonas would be a dream down that side?! The side he normally plays on? Im not sure where this is coming from? He has had a few bads games lately, he is lacking confidence. Putting WR on the left would be criminal. He wouldnt have a sniff and would totally disapear like he has done on many occasions this season. Rather that than a player who goes past two players then loses the ball. Errrr yes.

  5. I could have sworn there was a post here a minute ago about Lewington rejecting the post?! Im I going fucking crazy?
  6. Routledge is struggling enough on his stronger side, I don't think he'd fare any better playing on the left. It would be revolting.

What do you think?! Have you even read any of his tweets? I only signed up today so i could follow Jose and Jonas! I just seen something on Smiths about Perch eating scotch eggs and getting a right hook off Carroll. ok, maybe its not real
  10. What do you class as ball retention? He picks the ball up outside his own box and carries it, relives pressure. Now of course lately he hasnt been doing this as well, but when he's full of confidence he does it as well as anyone in the team. That's not really ball retention though, as while he might on occasion carry the ball forward 10-20 yards, he usually ends up walking into trouble. That's what bugs me about his game, he never tries to run past players. He stands, waits for the ball to played into feet, puts the ball on right foot, waits until the defender (or two) come in to close him down, and then tries to take the ball forward. It is ball retention. Im not sure what else carrying the ball into the oppositions half is classed as then? I could dribble 90 yards up the field, but if I pass the ball to opposition defence I haven't retained the ball. Iniesta and Xavi are ball retainers, as nearly everything they do goes to a team mate. I personally don't feel that Jonas has that quality, his decision making is a major flaw which effects everything he does, include retention of the ball. He picks the wrong pass, picks the wrong time to run and where to run. Like I said, his passing stats are flattering because he'll pass 3-5 yards to Enrique 20 times a game, but those passes are usually concentrated around the halfway line. His forward passing his terrible. If you took passes to Jose away his figures aren't that stellar. There arent many Xavi's or Iniestsa about though to be fair. He's not a world beater, but he will do a job for us for where we are at the moment. Im not sure what you suggest we would do otherwise? Who would you drop him for?

Look, I think its clear he isnt on top of his game, but there is no one better to put in his position. He needs a kick up the arse and some confidence. Until HBA returns he is going to be in the team as far as I can see.

  13. Saying he is unable to retain the ball is harsh imo. Fair enough on his final ball, but he can certainly retain the ball.
  14. would be great for the dressing room morale i suppose. ....
  15. He said yesterday that he is going to speak with Dezza about making the deal permanant.
  16. I'm sure if we even tracked secondary assists (passes to the player who assisted) it'd be low. I know people love him because he's foreign and flashy, but they'd be on Wayne Routledge's case if he had put in similar performances. People are on his back though so im not sure of the point? The point is that if Jonas wasn't Argentinian people would be pulling him up for his performances and saying he should be dropped. And his defenders wouldn't bother to defend him with the 'But he runs a lot' business. Tired of it, not going to hide it. On his day, which seems to be 29th February, he can be class, but he's so inconsistent over the course of the season, and within the 90mins, I'd feel unsure about passing him the ball. The problem being though, there are no other options. On the right we can use Barton, WR and if needs be Guthrie. On the left we have no one else. That's always been a problem at NUFC, we need some competition for Jonas as well, because he gets into this comfort zone. I dont think he'll get the competition until HBA returns. But I agree, he needs to buck his ideas up.

  19. He has been poor, but it doesnt help one bit when everytime he gets the ball the crowd go mental following a misplaced pass or unsuccessful run. Agreed. There was around the 70 - 75 minute mark yesterday where he won a 50/50 and you could see it gave him a huge lift and he finished the game fairly strongly. Needs a good 90 minutes to give him a lift.
