  1. "I can’t see the ownership of Newcastle changing for 1,000 years." Fingers crossed, Bob! "Which clubs have the heritage of Newcastle? They are top 20 in the world, a special club." They'll ignore that bit down the road, I'm sure.... Unless they genuinely reckon they're top 19!
  2. Yeah the Milan one was mildly amusing because of the chants from the last time we played there 20 years ago, but it needs knocking on the head now. Let's treat them like the irrelevance that they are.
  3. Doesn't matter who we draw, just got to keep hearing them and we'll lift the trophy. Bring it on.
  4. They definitely watch our highlights when we lose. I reckon our result is the key determinant on Wearside as to whether they switch that program on or not.
  5. Given the reputations of both sides owners and their status as human rights champions, I bet that if you looked back on their forum to before our takeover they would have been rooting for us when we played Man City. Surely.

    Paul Dummett

Paul Dummett loves a slide tackle.
  7. Charnley's the only one with a login and he's refusing to answer his phone.

Isak "can" play in goal, but he shouldn't. He's our record signing and one of the most promising strikers in Europe. Putting him at LW is stupid when he's needed at CF and we have others who can play out wide. "Isak LW" seems to be the new "Schar / Coloccini DM". And it's no less stupid.

That's an absolutely insane stat. Woodgate was excellent, I had a season ticket then myself, but the brevity of his tenure here should surely preclude him being quite so high in people's all-time lists. Most of us watched at best a dozen of his games.
  10. I think shirts should be designed to just tear apart really easily, make them out of something like crepe paper so that when someone grabs your shirt they're just left with a handful of material whilst you run off Firstly it makes shirt pulling almost pointless if it doesn't stop the player, but secondly there's clear evidence it has happened because the opponent is left holding half the shirt. Downside is that at least until people stop doing it, players will need about 10 shirts each per match.

Can you imagine a midfield duo of Coloccini and Schar? We'd win the league.
  12. I mean I agree in general with your point, but his height didn't win that header. Even Peter Beardsley would've had to stoop to nod that one in.
  13. Probably want a bit more than that for him TBF, especially as he counts as homegrown for the CL squad places.
  14. It is a great idea. That way he can continue to play well in future matches against 'harder' opposition. Plus you show a promising youngster who you've invested heavily in and convinced to join your project that he does have a place here and will get minutes in situations other than when Trippier is injured or banned. Everyone wins. For the record I'm not saying specifically rest Trippier today. But we should rest some players today, quite a few of them for my money, and whether today or another day at some point we should voluntarily rest Trippier. It's a squad game and we have lots of matches this year.
  15. Rest. Not drop. And yes, that's exactly what you do.
  16. Which games don't we need 3 points in this season? You could say we don't expect to win away Vs Man City, but everyone wanted our strongest XI out there because it was such a hard game. Which games do you rotate for by your logic? FWIW I don't think we will rotate much today, if at all, but I think that's an area Howe needs to look to improve on because it's going to be a bloody long season for the first XI if he doesn't, and we'll have some seriously pissed reserves.
  17. Each to their own, but I'm fucking miles away from that. Under Ashley, now that was 'not caring' when the opposition equalised. I'd shrug, maybe even laugh. A few times I even bloody cheered. Cheered my own team conceding, that's what he drove me to. I'll never forgive that. I was livid when Liverpool beat us this season. Properly threw my toys out the pram, and refused to even engage with any football-related content for days. And much though it hurt, you know what? I'll take that hurt any day of the week compared to how I felt under almost all of Ashley's tenure, where I was feeling almost nothing for a team I've followed since I was old enough to kick a ball. I got over the Liverpool game in a few days, and got back to hoping again. Under Ashley, that unbearable feeling of apathy gnawed away at my soul, every day for over a decade.
  18. Why did they raise the prices for the women's team?
  19. What's their excuse for hiding all their racism and misogyny then? I guess the same excuse works, but I'd like to hear it stated for the record.
  20. I love Eddie but we got battered 0-0 tonight. You can point to the result all you like, which was indeed a good result, but we play 10 more games like that and we lose 8 or 9 of them. It's not sustainable, and we need more fret going forwards. We had one shot of note and it was in the 94th minute. They tested out GK repeatedly. That we came away with a point today is lucky, not good work by the players or manager.
  21. I have such polarised opinions on this game. On the one hand, going to the San Siro and getting a point is a brilliant result, and a great start to being back in the CL after 20 years away. On the other hand, not having a shot on target until the 94th minute is fucking criminal, and indicative of a team that just hasn't turned up. Basically if they'd put a couple of their chances away, we'd have had no complaints at all and would now be launching an inquest into why we were so shit. But they didn't, and we got a draw. Weird game.
