  1. I've changed my stance on owen. I would like him to stay, and if he wants to, i will be pleased. But if he doesn't, he can go and i will hold no grudge - and it may be fine for us. With £9mil we can get someone suited to partners martins and that does not have a bad injury record. You have to think, even if owen tries to do the honourable thing and stays another year, he wont be here past that - unless we improve fast.
  2. bad move for him i think @dave - SS website. SS 'understand' wasnt he one of the ones getting death threats from chelsea?
  3. Bolton Ipswich, Norwich, Crystal Palace and Leicester down not bad considering i was 5 at the time
  4. I want to see progress. If that means being 11th like under Bobby, ill take it. I voted top 10
  5. I think if we lose owen, to make it as positive as possible, we need to replace him with a player suited to play with martins - i dont think bellamy is.
  6. I walked out. Didn't boo, just walked out on the final whistle. First time i've not stayed for it
  7. well what about roy keane....the sunderlands fans can live with it We need something long term to develop. Phil will not stay here long term
  8. Wouldn't want him anyway as i don't think he'd hang about long term.
  9. I I agree actualy. We're so erratic. We could well end up around the relegation zone, but i also wouldnt be totally surprised to see us just outside the top 4 with Allardyce. We're weird.
  10. good manager, but overrated. I don't rate him any higher than allardyce.
  11. Dunno about that like. I don't think a player should have to pledge the rest of his career to us for us to keep him. Loads of players wouldnt sign new contracts, even if they felt at the time they'd stay, they dont know what will happen. Before people rip owen too, we dont know for sure he had anything to do with this.
  12. Why have you praised his character? And why be surprised? If he ruthlessly got away from Liverpool for half his market value, why would he hesitate to do the same to us? He wanted a new challenge at liverpool and had served them well. I've always thought he's a good proffesional and would want at least one good season here. As for people saying get rid of him if he's here for the money/doesnt want to be here - i dont agree. I believe he will play to the best of his ability regardless. He'll still want to uphold his reputation, and the better he does here, the better move he'll get.
  13. I really want to see owen for a year. When we first got him, i thought he'd be off quick, but expected to see him for a season. I want to see him for more than the odd game. And i would have thought now is the time to be most optimistic since he arrived, with seemingly a good manager coming in. I'll be disappointed in him if he goes this summer, as i've always praised him as a character as well as a player. However, as said, he is more dispensable now. We have martins who is young, good now and looking very promising, and with 9million and a saving on wages, i'm sure if we get the right man as manager, he'll be able to get another v good striker, tailor made to partners martins.
  14. The other thing, ManU? Do you think he really wants to ruin any ties he has with liverpool? He'll be hated there.
  15. I'd be very disspointed if he left this summer. I'd understand, but i think he should have a good year with us and see how the new manager works out. If he leaves next summer, I'll wish him good luck. If he leaves this summer, i will be quite bitter about it.
  16. Play off trophy. I hope you're not using that as a point against him?
  17. Alkmaar was by no means our worst performance. At least they were actually a decent team
  18. Very happy. I think he's the true successor to Bobby we've been waiting for and could make us a team to be proud of again. I think he's perfect. I can't wait for an official confirmation
  19. which hunt? (ha that sounds like witch hunt)
  20. Ben Haim was going to leave bolton before he knew Sam was didn't he? That doesn't suggest to me he will want to follow.
  21. Emre will be off, and with 3 quality wingers (Milner, Duff, N'Zogbia) it seems a shame to waste them Zoggy can play where Emre plays, in fact i think that position would suit him well, and Milner can play where Owen is positioned in that team, he's finding his shooting boots. This also leaves the option of a 442 if ever we need it, without committing to the formation indefinite. I suppose yeah. And that's actually the sort of role duff had at chelsea. Owen--------Ameobi (?)---------Martins Milner------------------------------Duff
