Dunno, I reckon Steven Taylor is a very good third choice centre back.
-
Just our luck that this is the case whilst we have Barry Chuckle in charge.
-
But if he'd agreed to Smart Price bog roll instead of Andrex supersoft he could have got it over the line.

The Official Alan Pardew Excuses Thread

"We wuz seeing the chemical weapons as a frett. But we need to see how the kids react to those pressure situations that Kevin Webster can put you under, I mean he can absolutely rape you....oh yeah sorry, Kevin Nolan is always a frett, or is it Benoit Assad Ekotto" -
Pardew for me is deliberately saying this sort of crap to irritate fans on behalf of Fat c*nt. In my view he is complicit in ALL of the sh*te thats presently going on. Thanking Ashley (and Derek) for getting signings over the line (what other bosses do that?), saying how grateful we should be that we still have a footy club because of "Mike", saying how glad he was we didn't qualify for Europe again because it makes our precious players too tired, saying we cant compete financially with fuckin Swansea, not giving a f*ck if we lost at home to Arsenal, touting our best players for sale at fattys behest in his media interviews blah blah blah. How much longer will some people give this smarmy c*nt before it sinks in what a complete cock womble he is. I used to think the same and he probably did just that for a while but now I think he's saying the things he does to put pressure on Ashley and Co. He is or was complicit in a lot of things I agree and I'm in now way defending him here but its clear to me anyway, that everyone at NUFC is pulling in different directions and its basically become a free for all. Pardew's nose has been put right out of joint first with the appointment of Kinnear, secondly with the resignation of Llambias and thirdly with zero investment into the playing squad which to be fair to Pardew he has been strong in saying needs to happen, all summer and that he was confident it would. He's been made to look like a bit of a muppet, especially by Kinnear/with his appointment and although Pardew's been in on the inside in the past, it appears he's now on the outside. He won't resign or say anything to upset Ashley because he's not going to give up on his cushy number. But he knows he has a good rapport with the fans and the media in general so can say these things, in the hope it gets to fans and with it cranks up any pressure on Ashley and Co. Speaking to many people away from here and Pardew has been shat on and undermined by Ashley and Kinnear. Pardew's very media savvy and doesn't just trot out shit here and there for the sake of it, he's very calculated in what he says. The overdraft thing won't have the general fan on the street questioning him or sticking the boot into him, but Ashley, a billionaire whose company has just reached the FTSE100 with huge increases in profits in a season where we get a big TV windfall. He's complicit in it all man.

Whether Shepherd was the right man for Newcastle United is doubtful but his commitment to the cause and his passion for the club are sadly lacking in the current incumbant.
-
He really hasn't, not by any measure. I keep having this same argument with a mate of mine. Ashley has turned a club capable of competing financially with even the likes of Arsenal at the time, to one that cannot, in the manager's own words, compete with Southampton. FS may have spent more than he should have on players and used future ST money etc. to do so and yes we were in debt but the club could handle it and because we actually had ambition, we were only ever a good appointment away from succeeding as we showed under Sir Bobby. Ha we kept Sir Bobby and gave him 50m even if it was borrowed, we would have succeeded somehow at some point. Oh and while we did owe the banks a lot of money, we didn't owe anywhere near as much to them as what is owed to MA, a malicious cunt of a man who has zero interes in the club other than what we spend and where he can plaster his tacky two-bit SD brand. Brilliant post, MA and his cronies have rammed financial FairPlay and our supposed whiter than white accounts so far up people's arses its coming out of their mouths I agree the FFP thing is what Ashley will use sooner or later as an excuse for the neglectful lack of investment over 2 summers. The thing is, it seems like we are the only club adhering to it amongst clubs that aren't in the "big 4 or 5"

How much longer will some people give this smarmy c*nt before it sinks in what a complete cock womble he is. Golfmag informed us what his remit is. And therefore we can be certain that he is complicit with the lack of investment there is and also the cost cutting task he was given. See his regular advertisements for our squad members, despite it lacking depth, pre window closing. Aside from that he is a shite manager with no stones or professional pride whatsoever. It really is no wonder 99.9 recurring per cent see him for the clueless patsy tosser that he is.

We threw his name around but as you say we weren't sure without cheating. Who's the other one though? Heynckes?
-
And that is how good Gerrard was. Drove Liverpool on that night with a phenomenal second half display. I'd be careful about praising an Englishman in the England thread if i was you, tread carefully. In my eyes Gerrard is the best midfielder we've had since Scholes.

He really is. And he spent the housekeeping in January.
-
It's not, I can't be arsed and need to do some work. That's a relief. Come on Brett, playtime is over.

Why have you totally taken the subject we were talking about and turned it into something else? Nobody was saying Cisse was this 'extravagant luxury' or we never needed more forwards? Sure you just try to cause tensions across the forum polic! We were simply debating if Ashley would spend in January and i was simply making a case of i think our position in the league isn't relevant in whether he would spend or not as he’s proved in the past when we flying high under Pardew and Ba was banging the goals in, we still added Cisse to the squad because the deal was financially right for the club regardless of whether we were desperate for him or not. Take your Andy Carroll along with your 35 million into another debate please. He wouldn't have spent anywhere near as much in January if we weren't in the Pardew inspired relegation threatened position we were in. They've told us that already. By saying we were using the Summer transfer budget . Surely even you must comprehend that.
-
For once we have a subject we can agree on.
-
Incidentally Steven Gerrard has 9 fewer assists in 200 odd fewer games. And I'd wager fewer of Stevie G's have come from wayward or deflected 30 yard pot shots.
-
Only Giggs has more. Fair play to Lampard for having such longevity.
-
Aye... who would want a 20 goals a season something midfielder who also happens to create a shit load of goals too. Much rather have someone who scores next to no goals but can spray da baal aboot like a boss man innit! He isnt a 20 goal a season midfielder, he averages 12 or so per season. Outstanding figures nevertheless.
-
He's made 91 assists in the Premiership since his debut. Averages around 5 a season. Hardly earth shattering stats. Certainly not for one of the finest England has ever produced.
-
Agreed, was like when Pardew ruled himself out of the England vacancy, showed a lot of respect for both country and club. Nice touch when managers can do this unlike Redknapp at Spurs. Especially good batch of crack today by the looks.
-
MYM can defo match him for pace. Think Taylor would be more likely to get to a header tbh. Don't know why he hasnt tried the 3 centre back with wing backs formation before. He should've maybe tried it at Citeh.Might work with Colo sweeping behind the other 2.
-
Gerrard can't get forward like he used to though. I'm a Gerrard fan but this is correct. However he played the anchor man role sufficiently in Tuesday and I think he's more than good enough at prompting from deeper than he used to play. I think he's looked better for England over the past year or so because he now knows he can't bomb forward like he used to if that makes sense? Always found him previously too tactically indisciplined whilst playing for England, but now he knows that he has to play within himself he seems more than happy to do so. I think the responsibility of the armband has aided this too.

He is As far as fascist madmen go I suppose.
