  1. Name 4 strikers better or 4 attacking midfielders better. No? Exactly. Rooney is a striker who has Kane, Vardy, Sturridge at the very least ahead of him. They won't take four attacking midfielders but he surely would be behind Alli and Barkley. On this season's form, he should be nowhere near the England squad, and nor should he on tournament history. You still can't name 4 strikers who should go ahead of him. It's worth mentioning that Rooney's generally been good for England since the WC and scored plenty of goals. He's been poor for Man U with the shackles on, granted. Rewriting history again Ron, as is your wont. I remember you giving it a couple of years before informing us that Rooney had had a good Euro 2012. He's been average despite knocking in a few goals, and we look far better without him. FWIW, I'd take Welbeck ahead of him too.
  2. What happened to the Mackems thread?

  4. The improvement in England since the WC has been astonishing. Superb.
  5. Danny Rose has been exceptionally good.
  6. That is absolutely beautiful
  7. Sign of a cracking striker that. Great goal.
  8. The full back has to do something there challenge wise surely. Even contesting might've put Gomez off.
  9. Nothing going right for Harry tonight.
  10. Good first half, don't deserve to be behind yet lucky we're not further behind. Liking Lallana and Alli, unfortunately Kane having one of those King Midas in reverse games at the moment.
  11. FA yes man. Doesn't rock the boat. Uninspiring.
  12. He was a box to box midfielder with a knack of being in the right place at the right time. He wasn't especially good with the ball nor was he especially good winning the ball, I totally agree that Rob Lee was a superior player.
  13. Hmm, he's absolutely right though Ron.

Rolf never watched beast porn did he? He may have done. Might've been where he got his "can you see what it is yet" catchphrase from before he took up painting.[emoji6]

He really isn't, and if you don't believe be you should read the judge's sentencing remarks regarding Rolf. 6 years does seem a excessive sentence when you compare it to other cases involving very young children but I have no sympathy for him. I'd be happy if all sentencing for all nonces was increased massively. Johnson has came across as an arrogant tw@t in this trial. You should call yourself Strange Mackem. You try to appear even-handed on here but you come across as a smart arse who tries to deflect responsibility from the role your club played in this whole sorry affair and the true extent of what others apart from Byrne really knew when he was welcomed back into the club. Thousands (if not tens of thousands) of your fans sung in defence of Johnson and if Sunderland forums and social media are reflective then it is not a small minority who still support Johnson and blame the child. Your time would be better spent back on RTG - whatever you're called on there - addressing the weird opinions of your fellow Sunderland fans and the manner in which your club has behaved. I don't try and come over as even handed, I give my opinion, hopefully one which has been formed using facts. When I joined this forum I said I would interact on here as I do with my Newcastle supporting mates, I have quite a few, and not like some of the tossers you see at the matches or on internet forums. Obviously some people don't like it which to be honest doesn't surprise me. I've condemned the part played by Margaret Byrne (and therefore the club) and the PFA. I've condemned Johnson, and I've condemned the idiot fans who sang some of the more ludicrous songs in support of him. I've also condemned the idiots on Facebook and RTG, I have accounts on both. Most fans, like me, thought the reason Johnson was brought back from suspension was because he had provided evidence to the club and the PFA which proved his innocence. We were lied to. I feel no shame for that because I had no part in it. My last reply was in response to a poster who seemed to be saying that Johnson is worse than Rolf Harris. He isn't, and such statements come from complete ignorance and add absolutely nothing to the debate. If that makes me look like a 'smart arse' then tough sh*t It was an "Animal Hospital" based pun, clearly humour doesn't translate to Mackemdom .

Usurping Rolf Harris in every step.

    Johan Cruyff

Back then, obviously you didn't get the widespread coverage of football from abroad back then, but most weeks on On the Ball, Brian Moore would show a classic goal from abroad. Cruyff figured many times either in the Barca side or Ajax colours. The worldwide name the game needed in between the times of Pele and Maradona.

I'm 99% certain the Dutch side of 78 would have won in Argentina if Argentina had not cheated. It would have been much fairer if Peru had to play the Argentine team without an Argentinian in goal agreed. Still , with Cruyff in that side, Holland would have pissed that tournament.

Fuck me, the Judge is going to don the black cap at this rate.
  21. Paul Ince was a cracking all round midfielder. He excelled as a defensive midfielder but he was much more than that. He'd walk into any England midfield since 1996, not just today's.

    Johan Cruyff

I remember the 74 World Cup and kids in the playground pretending to be him. A massive loss to the game of football, he was an absolute magician with the ball at his feet. I'm 99% certain the Dutch side of 78 would have won in Argentina had Johan not been in dispute with the Dutch FA. RIP to a great of the game.

I'd have thought knowingly playing a paedophile kind of brings the game into disrepute. Absolutely an offence worthy of points docking.
  24. It'd be interesting to spend time with Wilkins, getting him to explain that selection. Ince wasn't that great, but Alli for Platt is bold. Wilshere is exceptional, but along with a lot of young Arsenal players, he's struggled for fitness. Along with Ox-C, Ramsey and Walcott, you wonder whether Wenger, with his youth policy, over-plays them at this high level at too young an age, and they end up with problems. Ince wasn't that great? You're fucking mental you like.
