Oh aye, that would really help us.
  2. His opinion is a valid one. You may not like what he has to say but he's been closer to the regime than anyone on this board which gives his views some gravitas. I know his opinion is a valid one, I just don't agree with it. And whether he's close to the regime or not is irrelevant to my criticism, Barton should keep his mouth shut whether he's right or wrong. Where has keeping your mouth shut ever got you? I proudly participated in chants of SOUNESS OUT repeatedly at SJP and I'd like to think that helped to get him sacked. You're a fan of NUFC, that's fine. Barton is a professional footballer who plays for QPR. There's a lot of distance between those two.

I think it goes a bit deeper than that Ian, doesn't it? The fact he was lined up for yonks beforehand and has a history with the two stooges doesn't aid your point. Nor does it help that if it was a Manager with no links or an ounce of integrity they would have fucked off by now. The best we can hope for? Perhaps. Sad none the less, don't you think? Well bearing in mind that he's working under conditions that some managers couldn't, I think he's a good option for us. I genuinely like him as a guy and think he always goes out to win and tries his best. The fact he was lined up for ages reflects badly on most of the people involved, seems worse because Hughton was a nice guy who didn't deserve that treatment. But from Pardews point of view I can see that he couldn't turn down such a good opportunity. But I don't agree he should walk away, and I fucking hope he doesn't for our sake.

We have also signed some players that Fulham and Stoke would be very happy to have.
  6. Not really, it's definitely amateurish to try and hijack someone else's deal at the last minute like that. On the other hand if it had come off we would all be saying it was a brilliant transfer window. I believe we were trying to get another striker throughout the summer though, we just maybe weren't prepared to pay what it would have taken to get a high-quality one. We obviously should have signed another striker, but for whatever reason we didn't. I don't really know enough about the available players and what it would have taken to get them to know if that's right or wrong.
  7. Not surprised that people like Lee Ryder, who are used to dealing with the average footballer, like Joey Barton. I would probably like him as well if I knew him personally, and he is more down to earth than the average player. But that doesn't mask his obvious character flaws or mean it is right for him to be talking shit about NUFC in public.

Obviously he won't be able to remove his links to the regime, he's the manager and is employed by the owner. Any manager will be that, the best we can hope for is someone who does a decent job in these difficult circumstances, and Pardew is doing that.
  9. Good post. Joey played well for a small amount of time for us, he was a good player but he's not the people's champion or football philosopher that he likes to make out.
  10. So people are mugs for wanting to go the match now? Jesus wept, this has gone too far.
  11. Well in some cases, but in some cases we succeed. For example, Cabaye is a French league winner and chose to come here, and Marveaux rejected Liverpool for us.
  12. Exactly. This could be the weakest PL for a while, and therefore a golden opportunity to progress. It's a shame we haven't taken it. For me, this window was 5/10 - we signed some good players but also sold some of our best and most influential. Our squad hasn't really improved, in my opinion, except in the midfield area. I'm hopeful that some of our signings can push us on, but this depends on whether they settle in quickly. Unfortunately, we've sold many of the 'characters' in our dressing room, so it may take longer to integrate them than it would have otherwise. Hopefully some of our youth - Krul, Sameobi, Vuckic - really come through this season. Yeah, but there is a reason that all those other clubs haven't invested, and those reasons all apply to us as well. Overpriced players, clubs with massive wage bills, banks reducing cheap lending, owners finding their other business interests squeezed in the economy, financial fair play on the horizon. Of course you could argue that when other clubs don't invest then that means we should invest more to overtake them, but that's a bit simplistic IMO.
  13. don't think it would make any difference, if i lived there i'd still go, support the name of the club and it's players. Except that won't even be on the stadium anymore... You get my point In reality now by turning up all you're doing is supporting Mike Ashley. I do not recognize Newcastle United any more. My passion for football in general is pretty much gone and right now I couldn't care less. I'll watch the odd game on TV if it's free to view, other than that I haven't bought any merchandise in over a year. Why? Because I used to think my shirt money would go towards improving our squad. Now I know it just goes into Mike Ashley's pocket. Probably get a load of stick but I really don't care any more, that NUST thing needs to get going again to be honest. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!

    The Arsenal

Arteta and Benayoun seem strange signings for Arsenal, but then again Rosicky and Arshavin look terrible at the moment so I suppose they have upgraded them a bit.
  15. I think Barton is intelligent in a way, he's just also a bit immature and lacks self awareness, so he places too much importance on his schoolboy posturing and philosophy quotes he gets from Google. Either way, I just think he should respect the fact that he's a QPR player now and has no business slagging off NUFC in public.
  16. The club didn't need loans overnight though, did it? Weren't we massively indebted to the bank already?
  17. I enjoyed it as well, I genuinely laughed out loud. Amazing stuff.
  18. Well you would say that wouldn't you, since every fucking post you make is an apology for the fuckwits running the club. No offence intended of course you spastic. Wow.
  19. Nice one What good is he doing? Telling the fans something they already know? Good lad! Needs to f*** off and keep out of it tbh, doesn't help anyone have this s*** aroudn the club. Why not? The s*** is here anyway. And the ownership have noone to blame but themselves for that s*** being there. As far as I'm concerned, he can say what he likes. If people are glad to see the back of him/don't like him saying this stuff, then don't read it and don't get bothered by it., So you don't mind your club being dragged more and more through the dirt unnecessarily? Because you're pissed at the ownership too? Just as much a selfish attitude as Joey fucking Barton. I hate the clowns in charge and since I've been here I've made that clear (even been ridiculed by some of you who are now high and mighty). But I will NEVER be grateful or appreciative of some cunt publicly and constantly slagging the club off. Like I said before...We should all be protective of the club as an entity. It's not defined by the current or ex players. Nor is it defined by the current or ex owners. We need to have some pride back in the support and hate those who attack it as much as those who run it badly. Sorry, but the completely justifiable anger for the cunt of an owner is clouding a lot of people's judgement of the cunts who also continue to embarrass us, shit stir and slag of new blood. You're so right mate, seems like people almost take pleasure in NUFC looking bad at the moment, just because Ashley happens to be in charge.
  20. Totally agree that it was wrong to say the whole £35m would be invested, but I think it was more an instinctive reaction of a regime trying to justify a very unpopular sale than a devious plan to sell season tickets.
  21. Why? It's been obvious to most for months and months that this is what the plan is. Barton is just saying it, nothing wrong with that. It really hasn't. There's no way the club is actively planning to sell Tiote and Krul. Obviously if Chelsea come in with a £40m bid we will probably sell, but the vast majority of clubs are in that position. I am worried about the contracts of the likes of Colo and Jonas though, as they must be on more than we're offering to new players. You and a few others must be living on a different planet if you think that's not the case. It's become quite clear that ANY player has a price on his head and it won't have to be a large amount (as shown by the Enrique departure). Ashley is happy to keep us in the PL while recovering of much money as possible. Barton probably has a better idea of what's happening than us, it's worth listening TBH We had to sell Enrique for slightly less than he's really worth because his contract was ending. I just don't see any evidence that we're looking to sell our best players all the time. We have a lot of failings, but that's not one of them IMO.
  22. How can you rate the transfer window a 6,5 when our squad is arguably weaker than it was a year ago and we have made a huge profit on transfers in that period? Because I think we've replaced Enrique with quality, replaced Nolan & Barton with quality, signed a striker but could have done with another, and signed people like Obertan to beafen up the numbers. Nowhere near the doom and gloom you'd think people would make out. Ah honestly f*** this s***. Don't enjoy this forum anymore. Bunch of depressing bastards. f*** off. I don't really understand why not? If you believe in what we are doing then you should have no problem explaining why. I never believed in signing Kevin Nolan even when he was a hero here but I believed in what I said and so had no problem with arguing my case. I believe we do some things right, and I try to argue my point as well as possible. But it does seem totally pointless sometimes, and I'm being made to feel like some sort of imbecile or not a proper fan for putting my point of view. I can understand what Nut is saying, I'm close to not bothering coming on here anymore. No offence to anyone personally, there's just enough reasonable chat to keep me going, but I know the feeling. Ian man, you get grief because you dont say reasons of annoyance without explaining why you potentially understand whats happened or listing off all the other positives of the situation. Most people react to the singular event, having accepted all the previous positives that have been before it. Its ok to just feel annoyed about something without balancing that out constantly, its only temporary & quite normal. I don't really get what you mean, are you saying I should go mad about individual negatives and deliberately ignore the bigger picture? Sorry, it's late.
  23. Yawn. :gm's dummy: Sorry, that was childish of me TBF!
  24. Fair enough You can though, I hope, see that they have actually gambled on our long-term future by essentially cutting our feet from under us (Carroll, Nolan, Barton, Enrique) and then hoping the new legs (Obertan, Santon, Ba, Cabaye) keep us in the division over the course of two transfer windows? And it is hoping, really. It isn't even financially prudent. It's gambling on one of the key components of all our revenue streams - Premiership football. We survived the second half of last season (thank you Leon Best, Jonas and Joey Barton, among others! ), but it's conceivable - at the time Carroll was sold we could have sunk like a stone. He was either getting our goals, or flicking them on for Nolan! (Pre-injury). IMO, building on the core we had with lower staff/player turnover could have yielded better football, higher rankings, more money. Ashley/Llambias must be Conservatives though, because they're cutting public services left, right and centre and they don't really give a shit about the consequences it has as long as it is ostensibly improving the balance sheet (oh look, an exaggerated analogy Apologies for the 'last refuge' gibe. Immature of me to say in retrospect). Yeah, I've said before that the pace of the change in the squad is too fast for my liking. Any change of that pace is a risk. But at the same time I don't think our outgoings are as bad as people think. Carroll obviously a massive blow, but Nolan not so much and he wanted to seek a better deal which we were right not to match. Barton again I would have liked to have kept but he accelerated his own departure with his twitter bollocks. I think the club overreacted a bit, but the principle was right. Enrique I believe was inevitable, he had just got good enough to play for a better team at the same time that his contract was running out. Specifics aside, I agree we are gambling to a certain extent, I just think our chance of relegation is tiny enough to make me not that scared about it. Wood touched.
